Thanks Highdays, we’ve been at this yard for 2.5 years now but time flies etc. I did hear yesterday that two of my current neighbours will be moving to the new one as well so at least there will be some familiar faces, for me and the beautiful grey one ☺️For yesterday,
A cuppa in bed and watched the cricket get underway, not good enough again.
There was a very welcome spell of sunshine, just for an hour or so but we made the most of it outside in the garden with more clearing done and growing plans made.
Roast chicken dinner and bittersweet memories of small dog waiting for her share.
A few games of Yahtzee with half an eye on the footie, oh dear Capt S.
The welcome return of the Unforgotten series.8 -
Tired beyond tired and forgot to bring laptop home which has forced me at last to set new password on my iPad hooray.
1) took the peace lily into work - beautiful and cheering
2) also took amaryllis in for colleague with health warning that at £2 it might not grow but worth a punt
3) last of pasta in hm Sicilian sauce for lunch - will defo cook that again
4) mum’s fab chicken casserole for tea
5) after decluttering 10 items for the 10th hopped into bed with a square of dark chocolate and green tea - now to brave the chill to brush my teeth while standing on one leg. I have indeed been listening to Michael Moseley just one thingMrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

Pleasures for today (Monday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) The tiler was here (day 3). He will do the grouting tomorrow.
3) I went to art class. I had a lift from someone who goes to coffee morning also. The topic today was orchids.
4) Read the paperwork from work about redundancies (52 pages!) I will be guaranteed interviews if any jobs appear before then.
5) I started emailing people about possible apprenticeships etc for smaller son and the country apprenticeships lady has emailed back already and will talk to us on Friday!
6) Worked from 4-8 and was by myself the whole time so I got a lot done and had a proper clean up afterwards. Came home from work to see the tiling is almost complete.
7) Realised smaller son's window sill was completely mouldy as he hasn't opened his blackout curtains in so long! Just cleaned it all down and put the anti mould stuff on.7 -
Pleasures for today
1. No rain on way into work
2. Other Manager back so work load halted today and managed to catch up on some admin.
3. Encouraged a colleague to apply for a development post.
4. Chat with DS2.
5. Lunch made for tomorrow & now in bed ready to get up at 4am.8 -
For Monday
Some work stuff.
Lovely walk at CP . Lots of busy birds.
Re-covered my third pelmet…I’m improving.
Home. Made a curry for lunch. Hoovered (again) then hoovered and tidied car.Sorted out car insurance.
Was a bright day but oooft at the cold wind!Early to bed.8 -
I do the standing on one leg thing too DD!
For yesterday,
Into horsey town for a food shop and met someone that I used to work with, bit of a catch up.
A few surveys and caught up on a frugal blogger that I follow.
Weather was awful so messaged yard to ask if they could bring my girl in at midday as I know she would have been miserable and standing at gate which she was! Went over to see her after lunch, long groom and plenty of Mum time. Did catch a quick cuppa with fellow owner C who is also moving to the new yard.
We didn’t see the sun all day so lamps on when I got home, these grey Feb days are tough with spring just around the corner so anything to cosy things up is very welcome.
Cold meat & chips for tea, easy peasy.6 -
It’s still hard to find pleasures, but I am trying!1) Grateful that I am sleeping well. I hadn’t quite realised how exhausted I was from giving Mister CJ twenty four hour care for so long.
2) Gentle sorting and tidying is definitely a pleasure. Gawd love him, he had an annoying habit of keeping random cables and instruction manuals for tech etc we no longer have, “just in case”. Very MSE I know, but I have ruthlessly recycled boxes and boxes of them. 😂 I hope he’s not too cross with me.
3) I made some delicious butternut squash, chilli and red lentil soup for lunch today using ingredients from the Community Larder, just what was needed as it’s bitingly cold outside.
4) The sad admin is chugging along without any hitches.
5) Coffee out with a friend yesterday was a nice distracting break, I need to get out of the house from time to time as it all gets a bit overwhelming otherwise. We had a lovely chat, some reminiscing and quite a lot of laughter through the tears. Did me the world of good.7 -
Pleasures for today (Tuesday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) The tiler was here (day 4) and has done everything except putting the kitchen plinths back. He will return tomorrow. He has done a good job, especially cutting tiles to fit around various pipes.
3) Went to the local volunteer cafe, saw smaller son's old TA volunteering again and she said he can work with her on Tuesdays! (He is still making his mind up). Had Miriam Margolyes' book off the swap book shelf and have been reading it on and off all day.
4) The apprenticeship lady will phone at a time when we are here on Friday.
5) Horrible, stressful phone call from Universal Credit who asked me lots of questions about smaller son and his bank account. They wanted to know every incoming and outgoing (very few!) but I was able to remember the 2 cheques were Christmas presents to him and the outgoings are for Just Eat...
6) Had meals from the freezer for tea as the kitchen was inaccessible all day. Goulash for smaller son and chicken tikka for tea.
7) I made some fairy cakes and we sat and listened to the commentary of our football team on the radio, A 1-1 draw.
8) Will have an early night and listen to a podcast.6
