@DundeeDoll - so sorry to hear about doggy - but when it is time, it is for the best. It is hard to see them suffer. You did the right thing for the doggy and took good care of him. Sending hugs from America.7

I’m so sorry to hear that DD, such a tough decision to make but the last & perhaps greatest act of love that we can give them, take care of yourself x
For yesterday,
More chores, this time washing down all the upstairs walls & skirting boards, gradual stirring of spring nesting ☺️Washed two of my yard coats and hung them outside to dry in the sunshine.
The window cleaner did his first clean of the year, £25 for 17 windows isn’t so bad and neither of us are keen on ladders!
At the yard, my girlie was ok on the softer ground but took the harder stuff in the yard a bit gingerly so definitely no work. Lovely farrier is coming today to put the shoe back on.Jacket spuds for tea then watched the footie, we have loved ones who support those two teams and were at the match, just hope the drive home wasn’t too bad!5 -
@DundeeDoll Big hugs, letting them go is the hardest part of loving them but your beautiful doggy is now running free over that rainbow bridge with no more pain.
Pleasures are still hard to find for me this week, but:
1) Lots of hugs and kind words from my friends at the community larder last night. I didn’t really need any of the smashing food they hand out there, I just needed to do something ‘normal’ and following my usual weekly routine was very comforting. I did pick up several posh M&S ready meals (looking forward to trying the halloumi shakshuka tonight) - ready meals are not usually my thing but I’m not quite in the headspace to be able to cook for one yet, and at least this means I will eat (and I need to look after myself).
2) The company who provided the hospital bed and other equipment which allowed me to look after Mister CJ at home are coming (any minute now) to collect everything. I haven’t been able to go into the living room all week as I cannot bear to see the empty bed, the pleasure will be able to do so again. It is such a cosy room, and it was always lovely for us to light the wood burner and watch telly in there so I am looking forward to doing that again tonight.3) I found the valentine’s card which Mister CJ gave me last year when I was tidying out a drawer yesterday, so after a few tears I have put it up on the sideboard so that I have a valentine’s message from him again this year.
4) Rufus the Wonder Dog, my great, clumsy, hairy loon, continues to be a massive comfort to me. The fact I have to walk him, feed him, and cuddle him gives me a purpose and stops me collapsing.
5) I am grateful for all of you. I’ve never posted much on these fora but have been an avid reader for many years, and it is truly a great comfort to be able to get things out of my head and onto the screen amongst such truly kind company. Thank you.7 -
DD oh what sad news to read this morning. Just to send you a big gentle hug.

Hello again.
DD - just adding my condolences and sending a hug on your sad news. It can be so very hard to do the right thing.
A quietish week here - always a pleasure. We celebrated little chappie's 10th birthday, we have gifted him several 'events' to take place over the next few months and he seemed very happy with these.A very selfish pressie really as it means we will get to spend lots of quality time with him! Big grandson goes back to Uni at the end of this week so baking is stashed in the freezer for his 'tuck box'. Lovely sunny day again so we will have a good brisk walk in the sunshine later on. Hubby is out set-building for the March production so I am currently home alone with a coffee enjoying a peaceful morning.
Take care, everyone, go gently.

My day off! Nothing workety at all today. So I wrote a list and worked my way through it doing a bit at a time and doing nice stuff in between! So everywhere hoovered ( again) floors washed, bathrooms cleaned, porch glass cleaned ( again…this is where the pup sits and puts his nose on all the time! ) filled the log basket, stripped bed ( and remade before bedtime! ) I did not get the table cleared…had gone through a box of stuff…half of which is still in a to be decided pile! It’s been a beautiful day with the bluest of skies although cold. I’d a washing out that was almost dried between the sunshine and the wee breeze.
Baked potato for lunch and then chilli for tea.Going to have an early night and get all cosy in my freshly made bed ( with spring like quilts on top…and big fleecy one hanging up to dry!)
Nice chat to DD2…she just assumed her dog was here! He wasn’t!Beautiful star filled and shiny mooned sky.6 -
DD I'm so sorry, it never gets any easier.
For yesterday
Feeling a bit snug as I had changed all the ferret bedding, and the wash loads all hung about to dry, and ordered up meds all by 9.15
I then tidied up the kitchen cupboards, I must do some freezer tidying, I know where things are, but it’s all very chucked in and not logical, but that’s another day.
We went to visit the in laws, helped them research some bits and bobs they would like, we then popped out and bought back fish and chips us all. We put the world to rights and conversation flowed freely.
Thankfully, easy travels there and back.
For today
The fibro has beaten me up this week so trying to continue but also trying to be kind to myself. I did the basics today tidying and wash loads
Made an egg mayo and home-grown cress sandwich, dinner is a homemade chilli bowl.
Refilled the bird feeders after the squirrels complained that I hadn’t put some food out for them.
The yellow and purple crocuses are starting.
Cleaned out the cutlery trays that appear to be designed for collecting grit.
Dug out a colouring book and noticed we have fancy paints but nothing for just colouring in.

I'm sorry to hear your sad news, DD.
Pleasures for today (Friday)
1) Good to get up after a miniscule sleep.
2) The tiler was back here by 9. I think the floors are two thirds done.
3) i did very little during the morning but kept out of the way, read magazines and played chess. The cat stayed in bed with smaller son as they didn't want to interrupt the tiler either.
4) Popped to M and S for a pot of tea.
5) Sent a few people messages and might be going to see a friend in Birmingham next week.
6) Helped smaller son rotate his dart board (so the 20 segment doesn't get worn out).
ETA - took smaller son to cast his vote in the town council election. (I had a postal vote).
