My 5 mse pleasures from today:
1) singing - today was choir practice service then back at 4 for practice then evening service - totally free financially (music and robes provided), indeed we offer scholarships for students and senior pupils
2) trees - in between services I went to hear an excellent talk at the Botanics about the value of trees
3) cotoneaster - according to the lecture the best plant for absorbing traffic pollution - noted!
4) dogs - i have no idea how ill dog has dodged the grim reaper again but he has - skin and bones but eating again, wagging his tail and very lively - that is the 5th time
5) audible - finished Along in Berlin (brilliant) and now onto Monkey, read by Kenneth WilliamsMrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

For yesterday,
Breakfast and then out to the garden to tidy up ahead of the forecasted heavy wind & rain. It was much colder than on Saturday and my hat was kept on!
Into the warm again and listened to the Hurchers omnibus.
Tasty lunch of meat pie with various veg, too full for afters but enjoyed some dark choc.
Watched the last LW programme in series, this time about Mary 1, very interesting.
Finished my latest book, that’s 4 so far this year and I’m making a note of what I’m reading, this one was a ValMc and very good.
Yes Amps the weather was much worse yesterday afternoon and we were glad to be at home.6 -
Hello.Early schmearly after a rubbish night.
The tiniest eeking out of the day.A few chores before friend picked me up and off we went to local castle for breakfast. Had fried eggs on toast.
We just sit and yak for ages! Good to catch up.
Library bus. Hurrah. It’s been a while. Quick chat with librarian.Went a doggy walk with DD2. And we found a big eucalyptus branch blown off the tree…so pulled off some stems and they’re now in a vase. I quite often just buy eucalyptus at the florist.Made a rice/ veggie stir fry for tea just using up what was in fridge.
Going through paperwork. Big pile to shred.7 -
Purple Kitten hope everything is okay with you?

work continues to be stressful and just heard a friend's cancer has spread and it's now palliative care 😢 so let's think of 5
1) the boy wonder has got his appetite back (but oh boy does he have very smelly wind!)
2) the walk home from work - a lovely time to unwind and catch up on Monkey
3) mum's chilli - the very best of comfort foods
4) nearly an hour of piano practice - fingers are definitely getting stronger
5) then 30 minutes on the exercise bike (Mr Piano left it for me, lifesaver during covid, rather ignored since but knee still sore after tumble yesterday and it definitely loosened it up)MrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

I’m here, things are okay, a bit sad but here. I’m currently caring for Freddo, who’s taken a very bad turn tonight, but he’s on his Christmas bed that he loves, one of those doughnut beds where he can sink into the edge, with a new fleece and has just had a load of food.
I applied for a role that I could have done, and they got back to me today, saying that’s the problem I could have done it, so I’m not shortlisted – I’m fuming and miffed in all honesty, but onwards it wasn’t meant to be.
1 We popped out first thing this morning in prep for not having a car this week, we popped over to where there was a Joyelles as they had wood pellet litter on offer, we normally buy this by the tonne, but we need to paint the garden fence and can’t have a tonne of litter in the shed to get to the fence. I’ve just run out of the last tonne ordered and the weather isn’t giving a chance to paint the fence just now. They also had the bird balls on offer at five pounds off so they were snaffled as well.
2 Popped next door to Food Warehouse and picked up some bits and bobs mainly from their pound range, and a couple of rtcs.
3 Then it was B and M as it was there and so were we, this time litter pads and animal treats, with 2 incontinent poorly ones I am running out of fleeces in the wash rounds. I couldn’t believe my timing, they had 3 sales bins full of reduced to clear fleeces so I picked up 9, varying from 1.50 dinosaur fleeces with the biggest fleece being reduced from £22 to £6. Very happy indeed.
4 Home and got on with cleaning, animal meds and lunch, and tried to de clutter in the afternoon, but not very successfully – err decluttered last years Lindt easter egg to be snaffled tonight thou it counts… sort of.
5 Dinner tonight was chicken kiev, bbq hash browns and some mixed veg for er good measure. Tonight, will be spent doing some pre reading on a new software piece before I download and learn it, in the hope to be proficient enough to add it to my cv in future.

Sending love to all with poorly animal companions.
For yesterday,
Trip into horsey town for a few bits of F&V, then through to pick up clean horse rugs and finally, squaring my shoulders as I went, picked up our little girl’s ashes from the V E T S. One last ride in Mum’s car and she was finally home. I’m going to ask my DSS to make a wooden casket and she will go in the garden with her big sister.
Keeping busy and watching the birds on the feeders, the Woodpeckers have turned up again and we are seeing a Jay once or twice a week.
Ominous clouds looming and then we had a thunder hail storm so heavy that it left the grass looking as if it has snowed.
My pony was waiting at the gate for me and called as I came into sight, heavy mud that sucked at my wellies and her legs needed washing down, thank goodness for a hot wash!
Tested little grey cells with UC then enjoyed Silent Witness.

oh pk how frustrating. i remember being told 'you were the best candidate but we've given it to X' then blow me happened to another friend when X got her next promotion. i have no idea what went on. however i then got a job that was a better option for me so fingers crossed you have the same outcome.
today has been long and not sure where it went! but 5 good things, a mix of food and music
1) colleagues - one of them brought neeps and tatties in for the students (I'd taken in a veggie haggis)
2) mum's cooking - had the last of the chilli for lunch
3) and cooking - tuesday is my turn - i did another recipe out of the big pasta book and there is of course enough left for tomorrow's breakfast AND lunch
4) my piano - another blissful 40 minutes
5) the lark ascending - my sil (professional violinist) played it at my wedding in 1987 and I still love it so have rewound it on sounds and listening again
