Friday…went to bed early! Dropped off 2 Vinted parcels and got a log delivery. Paid off all my outstanding debts…house sale related stuff ( not really a pleasure in spending money when nothing transpired at the end of it but a line is now drawn mentally/financially under it)
Today : drove to beach just before sunrise. Tide way out and we had a lovely walk. And that’s about really all I’ve done! Been rather headachey all day. Watched Rivals …bit trashy but watchable !It’s been bright but chilly here today but nice to see blue sky instead of grey.6 -
Pleasures for today (Saturday)
1) Good to get up after a poor sleep.
2) Went to Waitrose for a cup of tea and to do the prize crossword in the free paper.
3) Bigger son was here on my return as he wanted to see the hundreds of mushrooms that had come up in the garden. They are edible but not worth the effort (honey fungus). We had a cup of tea and played cards.
4) I tidied and hoovered downstairs, put the rubbish out and pootled around.
5) Our team won 3-0 against Needham Market.
6) Smaller son and I went to Tesco.
7) I watched Strictly.
8) Talked to my school friend on the phone.6 -
Hello again.
Well, we have had some lovely weather recently but woke up this morning to torrential rain and high winds. Does the weather know when we have booked to go away?!
Anyway, some pleasures:
1) We HAVE had some beautiful autumn days this week, glorious colours on the trees and gentle autumn light. Even had a lovely foggy start the other morning though still very mild. Everything is starting to hunker down for the winter months and it's getting dark earlier and earlier. My favourite season.
2) Son is cracking on with his kitchen, worktops have been measured up so all should be finished in a couple of weeks. We have been in this house for 5 years this week, took it apart to build it up again, maybe it's time we took stock of everything we have done and give ourselves a huge pat on the back as life has still gone in the meantime but we pretty much have two houses finished now to a very high spec - son and I are both perfectionists which can be a real pain but not now it's done! Nearly time to just 'live'.
3) Grandsons are all settled at uni, college and school, all getting into a new routine, x boxes and the like are now confined to weekends again - good!
4) Had a lovely afternoon in our favourite garden, sat on our favourite seat with our favourite view and had happy memories of my dad on his anniversary. A very soothing couple of hours.
5) As mentioned above, hubby and I are off on a mini-break jaunt for a couple of days. A National Trust house we have wanted to visit for a long time which is just too far for a day trip and then we will visit the National Memorial Arboretum. Never been and looking forward to it, also looking forward to a couple of days on our own doing our own thing. We had a lovely holiday in Cornwall with family but also enjoy just being 'us'. Relaxed hotel breakfasts on Monday mornings are one of life's big pleasures. More coffee? Don't mind if I do!
Hope you are all having a good weekend and that the poorlies are recovering and feeling a bit better.

First attempt disappeared so once again!
For yesterday,
We all had a lie-in after a 4am start with small dog.
Made a loaf, sorted out some pension stuff and generally pottered around the house.
An afternoon at the yard, I was going to work my girl in the lunge pen but my mate had her new, somewhat nervous horse in the arena next door and I didn’t want any of Missy’s shenanigans to set him off so she got to be a lazy stable ornament for the day. Cuppa in the kitchen and a good natter, love our yard.
Home and a big slice of cake didn’t put me off the loaded nachos I made for tea.
Outside and tried to spot the comet again, it remained elusive but we did see the satellites go over, a big line of them coming up from the horizon and disappearing into the night sky, very impressive.7 -
SSue, I can relate a bit, I’m bored with feeling not quite well enough to plunder on.
We both tested clear today happily, but feeling tired and achy still, was rather hoping the all clear would magic away the remnants.
1 I cracked open the box of celebrations, er no excuses really, in fairness it lasted since last Christmas.
2 Leftover pizza slices from a few days ago was lunch, hm chilli from the freezer for tea
3 Cleaned up our bedding and ferret bedding and relevant wash loads.
4 Looking forward to soaking in a bath.
5 It’s the time of year when we can see the moon moving around from the french windows but not a comet.
1 Made a concerted effort not to do any cleaning, in memory of my mum whose Sundays were always cleaning free, while she did a full roast dinner!!!
2 Sorted some clothes out that I knew I had but wasn’t sure where.
3 From freezer to oven for chicken and chips with curry sauce for dinner, as I forgot to get anything out, it was lovely with the last bread crusts.
4 The leaves spiralling down and our old and loopy one chasing them as they landed, very pure.

When your day doesn’t quite got to plan….plan was to tidy away things that are in little piles of to be put away ( this is before I bring anything into the house from boxes in garage)
Rubbish sleep so was relieved to get up.Went to supermarket…got quite a lot by my standards. But stocked up on veggies and a few RTC things for fridge and freezer. Filled fridge and freezer ( after washing down the fridge)
Hoovered downstairs.Put a wee shelf doodah that DD2 had given me weeks ago, that has been loitering, in the downstairs loo. Looks nice in there and I will give it a paint at some point.
Chatted to DD1…laughed as she described a potential house mate…said it sounded exactly like her…she didn’t fancy them coming to live with them! Honestly she could have been describing herself but they were three years older!Hoovered the car. Usual half a beach and half a tree. Then this is where the day went awry. DD2 had a big amount of water pouring through her kitchen ceiling. Couldn’t get stop doodah (MSE won’t let me say it!) to stop so the water was just pouring. So by the time I got over there ( about 15 minutes drive) it was a mess. Plumber came not long after I got there and managed to stop the water. Tried calling insurance but need to call back first thing and speak to someone who knows what’s going on. They were both in a panic so I was the voice of reason! Been there and done that a few times! Water just goes everywhere! So I took the Pup and brought him here where it was slightly calmer. And then they followed with enough stuff for a long visit…and all the wet towels that had been used to sop up the wet! And bags of food from the freezer and fridge as the water had poured down the back of their FF…so managed to squeeze most of it in…however of course I had a fridge and freezer full that I don’t normally do…freezer was on a permanent state of not much in it as I would be moving!Anyway they’ve just went for chocolate supplies.Tomorrow is another day!7 -
Bad news about the leak, MHags.
Pleasures for today (Sunday)
1) Not a bad sleep but an early start.
2) Worked 8-12 and that went OK.
3) Put the washing on before I went. I have only one uniform jumper and that was in the washing machine but I stayed quite warm at work without it. Also tidied various other bits of the house up and have put a bag ready for the charity shops and 2 pairs of shoes aside for my sister.
4) Back on the blood sugar diet tomorrow so I had a Greek takeaway for lunch and smaller son had a McDonalds!
5) Took the old stair carpet from the spare room (where smaller son had rolled it up for me) and hoovered both sides of it and it is now a very long rug in the hallway! This being carpet town, most visitors could tell you which factory made it and the name of the design. (Someone actually did tell me it was a 32 colour (?) and all the info but I have forgotten now).
6) Looking forward to watching Gone Fishing later.6 -
For yesterday,
A bad night when small dog had us up several times so the pleasure of it being Sunday and we could have a lie-in.
We were supposed to be going out for lunch but due to above decided to stay at home instead. It was a wild and woolly day with high winds so probably for the best. Got a text from the yard to say that they were keeping the horses in.
Caught up on all things Ambridge and downloaded JAM to listen to as well.
Watched and enjoyed the cricket, many congratulations to the NZ women on their fine win.
Reading in bed, a collection of Ghost stories by MR James, perfect as the wind howls around the cottage.

Hello.Today’s been the longest day ever! And it’s only 8pm
Rubbish sleep so I was glad to get up.Quick doggy walk. Was dry but still windy though not as windy as last night was! Holy moly.
Made tablet for Halloween. ( we celebrate at end of this week as it’s the last Friday of the month)
The lodgers were up. Phone calls to insurance company at 8am.
Went a big walk with both dogs and dropped off a Vinted parcel.
Went over to their house mid morning so they could take photos.
Got four loads of laundry done today! And mostly dried outside. I had 14 towels out first thing! As we’d had to use them to try and sop up the wet floor. Windy but dry thankfully.
Mobile library.
Made a mince pie for tea with potatoes and veggies.
Tidied my bedroom and bathroom. I’d got a shelf unit for free from local FB page ( I’d given so much furniture away as it wasn’t going to fit in the new house that never was! ) so I lugged that upstairs and it’s inside my wardrobe for shelf space. I’ll paint it at some point.
I washed and DD2 dried dishes. He’s at work. She’s upstairs. All is quiet!7
