Condolences Paulie x
Just about to head out for last doggy walk
Up early and out with doggy.Made Stovies in the slow cooker.Went to supermarket…slightly mortified when I realised yesterdays jumper I’d just pulled on had pasta sauce on it…but never got that close to anyone 😆
Made meringues when I got home…not made in a long time and as I say every time I make ‘em…I do make a good meringue 😆. Made some little ones for my friend to take home!
Halloween celebrated in my town on the last Friday of October so we had a themed tea…with the Halloween plates and glassware out! I do love to set a table. We had stovies, sausages, sausage rolls ( I was trying to use up fridge/freezer stuff) crusty bread. RTC hummus and salad. And wee roast potatoes.Pud was meringues, RTC caramel shortbread and tablet…there were tangerines 🍊 on the table too!Friend had brought goody bags!Gingerbread men /ladies decorating competition with a Halloween theme!Lots of chatter and laughter.Rescued a dog this morning which had escaped! However it was absolutely plastered in dog poop and was all a bit stinky and ridiculous…me having a conversation with the owner through their ring doorbell!!! The main thing is dog was safely returned!Right better go walk my boy!8 -
Good morning. We've had some really lovely autumn days recently. Crisp, blue skies - refreshing almost. Unfortunately yesterday was wall to wall grey. Hoping we're back to the good stuff today.
Sad news Paulie, but glad DH is coping well
Thank you all for the reassurance re cataract operation. I will wait until after DH finished his treatment to sign up. The optician did say there was no rush but I am aware that my left eye is definitely getting worse.
Had both jabs now and fortunately no problems so onward and upward.
Tried to make biscuits in the air fryer yesterday but not a success. It wasn't an air fryer recipe and actually they took ages to cook. And are now cakey and a bit boring! Think the birds may benefit!
Family breakfast planned tomorrow. DGD is 16 !! Where did those years go?!
Happy weekend everyone

Condolences on your loss PaulieH but how comforting that DH got to see his Dad the day before.
For yesterday,
Early trip into horsey town for a food shop, forgot how busy it can be on a Friday but made use of the offer available on wine to stock up a bit, got a free Tiramisu bun to share later as well.
Went over to see my equine pal, she’d been turned out early in the morning when it was foggy and cool so was rugged up but by the time I got over the sun was out & it was 16 degrees so took it off. Meds given and treats distributed, then a bit of cloud watching and leaning into her strong side.
Another influx of ladybirds, warm weather I guess.
Bit of financial admin done but grateful to be interrupted by bf who wanted a good blether.
Sitting on back doorstep and enjoying the last of the sunshine.

For today
Up early.
Went to CP ( briefly) my SIL’s were coming over to this side of the country for a visit. And wanted to see my caravan so we met them there, then went to the garden centre for lunch. It was very busy. So lovely to see them as always. They kindly brought me a candle for a caravan gift.
Lovely drive from the opposite direction I usually go. Trees were stunning.
Home…a wee snoozette.Brought washing in just as rain was starting, thankfully as it’s been lashing since.Fire on. Candles on. Cosy.6 -
Quick pleasures for today (Saturday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Phoned the Red Cross shop where I saw some woods ware on Thursday. It was still there so they put it aside for me and I drove to floody city to pick it up. 8 cups and saucers for my sister's Christmas present, for £4. They had another 8 on the shelf but I didn't think she would need 16.
3) Had time to kill so went to Waitrose for a pot of tea.
4) Met my friend at midday for a chat.
5) Listened to the football commentary online and our team beat Peterborough 1-0.
6) Some lovely fireworks we could see in the distance but the cat hated them, despite being completely deaf now. Smaller son was holding her and said he felt her heart rate increase.
7) Cleaned the kitchen properly then the stairs.
8) Watched Strictly.
9) Phoned my school friend.
10) The clocks going forward will be good for me doing an early shift tomorrow!6 -
For yesterday,
Small dog had a rough night so ours was quite disturbed, lovely to have a lie-in. Not so nice to turn on the radio and find out that England had already been beaten in the cricket! NZ had a good result though which I hope Amps enjoyed.
Breakfast was boiled egg and marmite soldiers, it’s been a while.
Busy morning in the garden, tidying up and clearing the veggie planters ahead of the brassicas being transplanted. Capt S caught me giving the apple tree a big hug but I wanted to say thank you for all our lovely apples this year, it’s been a good harvest.
I managed a quick 15 minute lunge session with the beautiful grey one, Saturdays are always so busy at the yard that it’s sometimes hard to get a slot and I’m mindful that the owners who work all week need them more than me. Afterwards I sat in her stable with her and listened to the football, United won again, that’s 3 on the bounce now.
The treat of a payday takeaway, followed by more Chelsea Detective.9 -
Morning all
Condolences, PaulieH.
Pleasures for the past few days
1. Some catching up with friends - much food has been consumed. Doesn't bode well for Slimming World this week
2. Went to yet another historic building this week, lovely.
3. a concert at the conservatoire, excellent quality performances from the students
4. a trip to the large Swedish place yesterday with DD. Got some good ideas for the new kitchen and they got some idea of the type of new sofa they want.
5. watched Rivals - loved it.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend.I wanna be in the room where it happens7 -
Went to bed early last night and must have fallen asleep quite quickly. But woke up through the night a bit discombobulated about what actual blooming time it was.Went to CP…well, I left early enough and nipped into supermarket and was going through the till and met someone I’ve not seen for ages so we stood chatting for ages! Me…I’ve got the dog in the car…blether, blether! Anyway was lovely to see her! And then , the plan had been dog walk then garden centre for a scone but because I’d chatted so long it was garden centre ( and first in the queue for it opening at 10am and dash to get the scone) then dog walk ( then scone once we’d had a nice walk!)
Busy carpark, last weekend of the main season so was busier.Started a library book, which I’ve just lain in bed ( to keep warm) and finished. Was raining, nice to hear it on the caravan roof. Then gathered up all my bits and pieces and headed home.Just been reading till I finished the book. And the chap is cooking dinner.
And the non pleasure is of course the clocks have changed and it was dark by 5.30pm. I don’t like the dark. Don’t see well to drive in it. Don’t want to be out in it particularly so shall countdown for the slow return to light! I do like moonlight and stars, I like twinkly fairy lights, I like candles. I like hats and thick socks. I love a jumper. I like frosty days. I just don’t like the dark!9 -
Pleasures for today (Sunday)
1) Not a bad sleep, with the extra hour.
2) My shift at work came and went.
3) Back home and spoke to the neighbours and saw their cat (who comes in here often) who is now able to go outside after a car accident.
4) About 20 minutes to shower and get changed then... went to a flat warming party! Good food and about 20 people there, which is 20 people more than I normally talk to in a day. Everyone very jolly. First time I had seen Mr M since our bit of seeing each other stopped. He seemed to not care at all (not that he cared about me at all when seeing me either...) but I found it very awkward so kept moving to a different room when he loomed close.
5) Had a lift from another friend so gave someone a lift home afterwards, in to Brum, where I rarely go at night, so that was exciting.
6) Having a cup of tea now and waiting for Gone Fishing.
Feel quite flat now, which is often the way when you come home after a nice day.7
