For today. Just about to go and walk doggy quickly then bed but I think we are both enjoying the peace and quiet. Was given a time slot of 11-2 for delivery, they came at 1.59pm so a bit of a waste of my time waiting ( with nothing to do as they had all the boxes!) but two nice chaps who were directed by me…either in the front room or in the garage. And basically that’s all I did for 4 hours was unpack boxes.
Guests over at 7pm. A nice evening of food and chatter and plates and glasses and cutlery and napkins and salad servers!Mostly tidied up hoovering can wait till tomorrow!Been a cold and wet day!8 -
Pleasures for today (Friday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Went to the coffee morning locally.
3) Cooked the leftover chicken thighs from the batch cooking yesterday plus some stuffing so we could have nice sandwiches for lunch.
4) My work discount card arrived!
5) Went to work which went ok.
6) Got back at 8.30 and have been mainly watching television.7 -
Good morning
Frith - Wasn't the U in Mr U for 'unsuitable ' Perhaps it should be ' unstable'! You've come a long way since then. Well done you !
My pleasures this week are all one .
DH had a 6 months check and all is well. Continue with the immunotherapy (3 sessions) and another check in 6 months.
The operations and treatment have been hard, but we couldn't have wished for a better outcome
So blessed
Happy Saturday everyone7 -
Hello again.
Happycas - wonderful news for you and Mr Happycas, you must be so relieved, definitely all your pleasures in one!
Recent pleasures:
1) Some beautiful autumn days, chilly but warm in the sun and trees changing colour against a clear blue sky are a delight. Love autumn.
2) Now recovered from our flu and Covid jabs. A couple of days of feeling a bit under par but fine now and thankful for the protection.
3) Back on the proper diet after the Cornish Pasty Diet of last week though all the walking we did on holiday somewhat made up for the yummy food and wine. Managed a couple of walks with my bairn earlier this week before the jabs so back into an exercise routine too.
4) A lovely new autumn candle - cinnamon, cloves and orange, very cosy.
5) Done a stack of baking ready for taking to Uni grandson on Monday. Will also take him food shopping and make sure he is stocked up. SuffolkSue - how is your lad getting on at Uni? Has he settled in ok?
It's my dad's three year anniversary today and feeling strangely settled with that. He was a wonderful man and, by his own admission, lived a wonderful life to the good age of 96. RIP dad.
Hope you all enjoy your Saturday, whatever you are up to.

That’s great news HappyCas 🎉
For yesterday,
Horsey town first thing for a quick food shop, not used to emporium on a Friday morning and it was busy so in and out quick!
Lovely sunny day with lots of blue skies, over to see my pony in the morning as fancied an afternoon at home. Sorted out a fly rug to go for cleaning and a few other jobs before popping out to see her in the field. She automatically opens her mouth for the syringe of meds now and then politely asks for her polo. The red kites were flying above with a very brave jackdaw in pursuit, thought they only did that when they had babies nearby but guess it’s a territory thing too.
Home and Capt S was working from home for the afternoon so lunch together.
Then fancied a sweet treat so quickly whipped up a batch of rock cakes to have with our afternoon cuppa.
The moon was only half full but low in the sky and quite bright, starry night too.6 -
Hello. A day of so much weather! Much of it rain! With a few hailstorms and windy and cold! In the dry bits I’d nip out to the garage with boxes! An alright sleep. Which is much better than a rubbish sleep. Most of day spent unpacking. I have floor space again. About 30 boxes now unpacked. Pile of stuff on the stairs to go up. Box of stuff for charity. Bag of books in the car. Stuff for caravan in the car. Box of things for DD2. The kitchen in new house that won’t be my new house had much less cupboards ( probably a bigger floor space but not well designed) so I would have had to have had a further cull of my things. So I don’t need to do that now. Silver linings…
And that’s been in mainly! Back and forth. Up stool and down stool. A few what on earth is this as it was well wrapped in paper. Then an awhhh…hadn’t thought about you in 5 months! The main joys are plates, cushions, rag rugs in kitchen and vases. As I love having flowers always. And my bookcase being full of books.Made mince with gravy ( in my special gravy making enamel jug I bought in Healesville, Australia in 2013) …had to boil water in a pan as my kettle is at the caravan! With potato croquettes, sprouts , green beans and broccoli for my tea. The joy of using two pans and a ladle and a flat plate!Hoovered up and washed floors.8 -
@Happycas - Great News.6

mhagster - well done you getting off the roundabout. Ach some photos are just timebombs, plus the shoulda been banner - it will recover its use as other peoples idiocy is Not Your Fault. May decent sleep return soon. Back with library. Tuesday Tea. The colours as leaves turn. Preparing for your container, ulp. Plates & cutlery & guests - you're moving back in! Flowers & books, oh yes, home is being reinstalled.Frith - you'll have to fend off the uniform fetishists, but can claim the tax allowance for washing it if your employers don't offer a service https://www.gov.uk/tax-relief-for-employees/uniforms-work-clothing-and-tools "Watched Strictly with the cat." sounds impressively civilised after Madam episode! Slipping in mud & not melting - you're amazing. Glad there was a hem to let down. No Aurora locally, either. U for uncalledfor? A discount card, splendid.LaineyT - windows open, eh? liberty work & poles to trot over, wonderful. Yeay cricket skills catching apples! Out unrugged so can roll! Quiz night <gallumphs off to iplayer> Of course your girl's a unicorn is disguise. Hear hear, Joe Root! Crooning here at idea of dog in spa robe. A quick batch of rock cakes...VJsmum - welcome back from olidis & hurrah your own bed! Laundry part of the undocumented price of olidis.BoP - welcome Empress Chloe, & I trust she's sound on Newts as there's a massive lack of the Yellow Stuff, but I do appreciate she may need the right diet.Purple kitten - hurrah you're jabbed. So so sorry to hear of Boost & touched Freddo trying to help.Ampersand - love your rugby families! Handsome motor. Banana fritters?! Wonderful to hear sense on AI! Tea-soaked sultana loaf sounds amazing - any particular tea?Highdays - ah, Cornwall... These odd anniversaries, but glad you're feeling settled.Happycas - yikes antibiotics hunting, glad they're with you & working. Hurrah your so far so good news!DundeeDoll- yikes vintage dog, presently recovering.OS Pleasures recently as well as reading yoursI love the animation at the start of Ludwig - the animators clearly used footage of David Mitchell walking & production stills to get the coat right. (I’m all for the twin thing, but I do wonder about shoes. Feet are very individual.) Drat. Six episodes evaporate rather quickly. Bring on season two!Youngest brushes his teeth twice a day “to impress the biddies at college”. (I’m pretty sure he doesn’t use that language there, he can still walk.)Had “the gentle art of Swedish death cleaning” brought to my attention again. In a kindly way. Struggling to word the reply that had the dead only done this themselves, my life would be loads simpler. Doing it for three (& trying to collaborate with the remaining two) is hard. All washed & brushed & packed for work on Monday. Pleasure in being certain, even if setting the alarm not so much.I have a new Playmobil figure, a caveman, & already have left him somewhere in the house. Since his next stop is likely a Pringles tube (top storage!), perhaps only kindly to let him enjoy space a while longer.Disconcerting visit where colleague in charge looked to me for advice. We all got home in time for the football. (He was watching with his dad: I was touched.)Brother-in-law sent me a thankyou card for his 60th birthday present. Youngest outraged I gave a not-child money. Me just giggling I’m not the only parent who teaches thank you cards are wonderful!I love snuggling under the covers. Only a few minutes til I have a nest of warmth & zonk…What the Dickens is a tuatara? Henry & ooh handsome - no wonder an NZ national treasure!Scouts! One of our young leaders chose & led a game with great good cheer & just a pinch of nasty, which the scouts adored.Planning the Oxford run. Have I Good Housekeeping, sundry treats, my meds, enough clothes? Student has games night so departure will be later o’clock than usual, but that he’s coming At All is very much appreciated!Long drive to swing, Ella, Lehrer & co complete! We see stars! And mutter extra blanket…Carer left her lacy thong on chair in bathroom - took me a few blinks to identify garment!Mum puttered to loo after we’d arrived: croons & hugs heartfelt but muted lest we wake folks.Mum’s garden full of autumn colour & small birds bickering over fatballs! When next I downgrade my bank account, I will have to take out a subscription to Good Housekeeping - mum adores it!Cat mistakenly thinks I’m on his side but I did feed him. There are berries on some of the holly! Several photos taken as the lines & colours are beautiful.Sister waited til I’d bought stamps to say “don’t buy”. So will take my investment home & wish communications were better.Mum’s carer affected by the Middle East missiles, her flight home diverted & had a bonus 10 hour layover to rechart safe airspace & to refuel. She’s wryly amused her badge got back with her.Lovely sight of mum reading her book club book, feet up, lap rug & on lap, cat snoozing. Everyone happy!Walked & watched squirrels - mum amazed all over again as they skip straight up trees…Mum’s vocabulary struggling “he was a friend to anarchy” so we pondered the possibilities of not heeding one’s mother, driving on the wrong side of the road & other conduct indicating non-recognition of controlling systems… That I immediately shelved “anarchy” alongside “not heeding your mother” drew a chuckle. The boiler is on the wibble & is so smart it needs a Real Engineer to fix. I do not approve of this, preferring technology I can reboot personally.Ah, the family sign language of “go brush your teeth!”… The Tucking In Ritual has various component stages. The cat utterly fails to understand family sign language. Yet has taught us the gentle pat of “feed me”. Baffling.Nice man who sells me pizza calmly wry one of his lads likely to be shipped to Cyprus soon. Unit medic, the previous lot rotated out without weapons, the next lot will be armed. He’s very calm, having served. If it happens, they’re the right folk in the right place at the right time, they hope.Watching the Arc! Oh my, what a race.Ah, Stardust. One of the lad’s favourite films & so cherished even as I have to keep on blowing my nose.Sister job hunting & looking at the civil service. Nearest her? Lot of prisons. (Although the Rutherford lab is recruiting for a new MD.) Me struggling to keep a straight face.Shocking news, son has thrown quite a lot of rubbish in the bin & set several loads of laundry running as he was looking for a game & it had fallen down the side of his bed. I can see areas of carpet!Trying to explain cloud kitchens to youngest. In the end, it was simpler with Lego.Fun with new tech - persuading the young that really, they are allowed to interrogate that machine. Once they’re engrossed, I can gently introduce the idea of “and associated paperwork”….“Ooh you are sentimental” - days later I’m still arguing with myself as to whether that was a compliment or not.Someone left half a bagel, so (like any tidy minded parent) I finished it. No wonder my dress size is this big!Ah, Youngest. “Ma mee ma mee mah maw: that means hit the bricks old timer”. Off I trundle, promised a cup of tea.A coop discount if I spend over £125. They do make me laugh, these email adverts.Whereas the Playmobil sale had a lot of charming gift ideas but also “70908 starter pack bank robbery” - Hm, that opens to door to Plenty of active imaginative play!“Find a man that ruins your lipstick not your mascara” Hm…. M Munroe, seemingly.Saw 2kg box of chocolates in the Amazon sale, consulted Youngest & we turned our backs on it. So proud of him! (& me.)Bought ‘the Thursday murder club’ & am giggling happily at the first chapter. This could be the beginning of a beautiful friendship…Virtuously doing a shuffle so the savings lump is in the highest interest account. Pondering a platform account to try to get better ratesScouts! Gleefully running around & our previously thought to be elective mute has taken to declaiming “Tig!” As she nibbles victims (me included).I have also been Told to attend the AGM. I was invested with my wood beads at an AGM, & got the 5 year ticket at a fireworks display - which after covid we stopped doing, handy fundraiser though it was. I’m intrigued now!Only connect on iplayer, on a school night & well past my bedtime but wfh tomorrow so can sleep in an extra hour minimum!Middleson took my recycling bin, emptied it, washed it, read me a stern lecture on the correct disposal of cooking fat (which I routed onto Youngest) & all being well we can return to polite society recycling as we should.Obama campaigning for Kamala as he’s “the hopey-changey guy” - and I do so love hope. He’s the one man who can say “I’ve got a problem with that” & coax folks onwards.Flu & covid jab tomorrow, so I’ve sewing bee stacked up on the tablet… I back Patrick & Esme to take my mind right off my immune system!Wanting to see the northern lights but wryly recognising I may have to go hunting a bit.Prepping for next week’s class. Stacking a load of code up tidy, but it’s working & the YouTube videos make sense. Which is a bit disconcerting but also reassuring.Made a nest to recover from the jabs. All proceeding well so far but sons looking a bit dubious! (I have a perfectly good bed, after all.) “Where’s the machine gun?” My beloved sons….Ah, being the sister-with-Prime. Middle sis now has a scart to HDMI cable & a figure 8 power cable headed to her & plans to stop the Labradors nibbling on either!Health Strength Love & Courage to all as have need, reliable HWBs & extra blankets as we get colder in patches. Bleed your radiators, if you haven't already? Gives that lovely illusion you're in control.5

Good news, @Happycas and MrHappycas.
Pleasures for today (Saturday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Went to Waitrose for a pot of tea and to do the prize crossword.
3) Went to watch our football team get knocked out of the FA Cup...
4) Chicken wrap for tea.
5) Watched Strictly.
6) Phoned my school friend.
7) Not in chronological order now but bigger son brought his cats round as the roofing man was visiting his house.7 -
For yesterday,
Cup of tea and reading in bed while small dog snoozed in her basket.
Out to the farm shop for breakfast and we both had a Snorkers bap with a big mug of coffee, just ordered when a big party of farmers turned up wanting to be fed so was well timed!
Made a loaf and finally framed & hung a picture that we picked up on a Northumberland holiday a few years back, it’s of the sunrise at Cresswell beach and brings back many happy memories of walks there.
Spent the afternoon at the yard, by this time the rain had set in so settled my girlie in her stable with a big hay net then sat in with my friend as she clipped her pony’s legs.
Lit the candles, opened the wine and watched a couple of episodes of Ludwig.
