Such a tough decision Mhags but with your lovely little bolt hole to escape to hopefully things can become less stressful now and hurrah to no longer living as a minimalist!
For yesterday,
Another sunny day, windows open to freshen up the cottage and Mr Hoover was deployed.
Sitting on the back doorstep with a restorative cuppa and watched small dog enjoy the sunshine.
At the stables, worked girlie in the school and she was a little poppet. Tucked her up with a hay net and watched my friend work her mare, she is far more advanced than we are but good to get tips.
Dropped into local equine hospital to get her daily meds and drove home through rush hour traffic, count my blessings I no longer have to do that every day.
Friday evening usual of old TOTP’s, a glass of wine and laughing at Gogglebox.8 -
Hello all, I had over 100 posts to 'skim' through. I've been on me olidis (again .😁)
Hugs mhags - sounds like the right decision
PK - i live quite close to the Arboretum. It's lovely. You need a whole day there if you're coming some distance. I recommend the various talks - especially the "Shot At Dawn" one 😞
Pleasures recently
1. 25+ degrees and warm sunshine
2. We've been to Sardinia. We went last year too, it's a fabulous place. Quite sad that we've 'done' it now.
3. Fabulous scenery, food, people. Interesting things to do - scenery, food, (people 🤣), ancient sites, hills, sea, wildlife
4. I've eaten too much
5. Foot has held out well - with the help of crutches.
6. coming home to my bed is always a pleasureI wanna be in the room where it happens11 -

Hello.Rubbish sleep.Glad to get up. Seemed to take ages to lighten this morning.
Emptied 6 boxes that were in the garage. And I was surprised at the assault on my emotions. Oooft. Mainly because it was photos of my husband, my children and the wee peoples that I have been saying to nice solicitor I don’t even have my photographs around me. So they are back up.And my felt happy birthday banner made me cry, because it’s not been there to put up on the birthday days…my husband’s, my son’s, ( my dog’s 😆)DD2 came and we went out for brunch.Hello recipe books…I love cook books but I’ve started a little pile to go to charity shelf at supermarket next time I’m in.Sorted out the cupboard under the stairs. One pair of boots going out.And managed to get the garden sofa cushions in there…don’t think they’ll be getting used again this year.So I’m just going with the flow of emotions. There’s a lot of disappointment and frustration and stuff to process. My hopes and dreams and plans made for somewhere else not happening. So I just have to be kind and gentle to myself.I am the great auntie of a teenager! Whoosh that was a quick 13 years…when she was born the day before we had to leave to go back to Australia…I dropped tears on her then!Tomorrow is another day!9 -
Mhags, I hope you are okay.
It’s been a day, just little things going a bit awry.
1 The flu and covid jabs for us both were done today, and while I only ever reacted to the first ever covid jab, this one started kicking in after an hour, I kept going for another 4 hours before caving.
2 Thought I would get on and mow front and back, the front mowers switch fell apart, and dh is fixing that, lucky that he’s able. The back mower ran out of juice, and I dug out the fuel to get the can which has a knack that doesn’t normally include swearing, but I did get the back lawn done.
3 We have a tip load from clearing at the in laws yesterday and remembered the roof box is on so wouldn’t fit in the height limit, so unloaded to my car where did Tetris, fitted in some more from this end where possible, and booked it in for next week.
4 All the bird feeders refilled.
5 Various bits of leftovers have been today’s lunch and dinner.

For yesterday,
After a wee at 6am for small dog we all had a lie-in until gone 8.
Busy morning in the garden, beloved cut the grass while I sorted out the tomatoes, larger ones popped in a brown bag with a banana and the small ones are now decorating the windowsills of the cottage. Will leave the plants for a few days as wee creatures seem to be munching on the few red toms left. Also deadheaded cosmos which have been fab this year and filled a couple of pots with spring bulbs before tucking them in the shelter of the old well to overwinter.
Hungry for lunch so hot sausage rolls and salad.
Afternoon at the yard, warm in the sunshine and we did a bit of liberty work in the lunge pen, also put some poles out for girlie to trot over. She got very excited and even squealed at one point! Then we practiced our Standing Still Olympics, well she stood there and gazed into the distance while I marvelled at her beauty.
Home, watched a bit of the women’s cricket and made tea. We fancied a film so enjoyed the sequel to Fisherman’s Friends and went to bed whistling sea shanties.

Pleasures for yesterday (Saturday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Got up early to look after bigger son's cats but they didn't need me in the end. This meant I was up and about by 7.30 so I went to Waitrose to do the prize crossword and had a pot of tea.
3) Didn't know what to do after that. Went to the local NT but it was so packed I couldn't even park! So drove off. I went all the back roads for a change and the weather was lovely.
4) My friend R came round in the afternoon. I hadn't seen him for about 6 months.
5) Watched Strictly with the cat.
Pleasures for today (Sunday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) A 4 hour shift that went OK. I am learning a few new tasks now. Good job they didn't want me to learn them all at once!
3) Bigger son and his girlfriend were here when I got home. He is just back from Barcelona.
4) Took smaller son to Sainsburys.
5) I'm just cooking a big roast including parsnips, which I like a lot.
6) I will phone my school friend later.8 -
Hello.Rubbish sleep and glad to get up.
Been a rainy day, though not heavy just damp and cool and people walking past in coats and hats.
Been watching the tree across the road lose its leaves in the wee breeze.
Did a bit more sorting out, posting on the decluttering thread again. As although I’ve struggled with a minimalist approach past few months I have managed to do without a lot of it, so don’t want to fill up cupboards just because I can.
Ate leftover from birthday tea traybakes…I might just turn in to one.
Excellent company of my dog.
Started stripping the bathroom wallpaper yesterday so did a bit more of that.9 -
