For yesterday,
A decent nights sleep for all three of us.
Bacon butties and catching up on all things Ambridge.
Fun and games harvesting apples from our tree, let’s just say I honed my wicket keeper skills standing underneath as Capt S reached for the higher ones, only got hit on the head by one which bounced off the side of the ladder! Decent amount wrapped in paper and put in the cupboard under the stairs, others not quite so perfect will make their way to the yard for others to share. They are cookers but sweet ones.
Lunch was beef with mustard mash, red cabbage and cauliflower, followed by cherry crumble, followed by much lolling about on sofas! We did get out for an early evening walk, small dog was full of energy and running around but being a little deaf & blind these days she doesn’t go too far from us.
A few games of Yahtzee then enjoyed Mortimer & Whitehouse.10 -
&'s Saturday osps post seems to have disappeared😡, so just a quick note re: making way to BStE on a lovely day to support our 🦚🏉3s, who won, against all odds and expectations, 61-19!!! And it was well-reffed! - def. another osp.🏉😃
& thanked him for this as did our captain and several players. He was surprised and grateful in turn.
Lainey - apple cake recipes galore! They freeze well too.😋

Hello
Rubbish sleep so again glad to get up and off we went to the beach for just after sunrise. Far out tide. Just us. Had a wee moment, as this is what I wanted to be doing every morning but with just a 4 minute drive. Couldn’t even bear to go round past that house. A misty drive down but clear on the way back.
Oh hello pup, who’d been dropped off before we got home.
Chatted to neighbour/friend.
Then time to go out for lunch with my mentor/ now friend! Had a good catch up.
And had just got home when the rain absolutely poured! Phew! We got caught in pouring rain last night on the late walk so I was glad not to get soaked again.
Library bus…hello I’m still here ( thought last visit would be the last visit!)
DD2 came to pick up pup and stayed for tea.And I’m having an early night, see if that makes any difference!9 -
Yes Ampersand, cakes, crumbles, pies and, my personal favourite baked with mincemeat, love apple season!
For yesterday,
A mild, sunny day so messaged the yard early to ask if horse could go out without a rug on knowing she will love feeling the sun on her back and I can deal with the muddy consequences later.
Horsey town for supplies, no coffee as friend away but some good rtc bargains to be had including some hot smoked salmon that we had with rolls for lunch.
Bees on the remaining nepeta flowers and blackbirds feasting on the windfalls.
Pony wasn’t too muddy but had obviously had a good roll as there was a big patch of grey hair in her field.
Testing grey cells on quiz night.6 -
Morning all.
Back from our hols in Cornwall and straight back into real life, no chance to read back yet so hope everyone is ok.
Some pleasures:
1) A lovely holiday, mostly excellent weather.
2) Home - always a big pleasure after being away.
3) My own bed, can't beat it.
4) A pile of new releases waiting at the library, will be collected today.
5) Arranged to meet up with eldest grandson next week when we are in Uni city anyway. Will stock him up with homemade supplies again.
A busy week in store, lots going on and looking forward to walks and catch-ups with my lad.
Have a good day,6 -
Post went missing yesterday. I don't think I said anything particularly interesting so we will go to today's !
Pleasures for today (Tuesday)
1) Not a bad sleep though woken by the geese going to (or flying away from) the pool.
2) Made a picnic during the morning, which is something I hadn't done for years! Egg mayo sandwiches then 6 iced fairy cakes.
3) Third load of washing is on (just a rug this time) with fourth load waiting on the kitchen floor.
4) Smaller son and I went to the local National Trust place with our free autumn ticket. They run until the 15th October (I think) if anyone wants to apply. We took the picnic.
Smaller son slipped over in the mud and ended up with a mucky behind and mud all down his arm. Not that long ago, this would have caused an extreme meltdown - always fun when you are half a mile from the car. Today there was some fairly fast walking and a lot of looking at the mud on his clothes but he remained very calm.
5) Back home and we cleaned smaller son's room, Many articles of clothing washed, window cleaned, much hoovering etc.
6) Went to Sainsburys then had a McDs for tea.
7) I have just cleaned and hoovered downstairs.
8) Looking forward to GBBO at 8.6 -
Hello. Just sitting enjoying the quiet…just the clock ticking and the dog snoring!Rubbish sleep. Kind of glad to get up but felt rather lethargic.
Anyway doggy stuff dealt with. Robin said hello to.Wrote a list. Downstairs hoovered. Most of upstairs but I will need to shred paperwork tomorrow and no matter how I try not to I get bits on the carpet in my office…so I’ll hoover up afterwards. My bathroom cleaned. My bed stripped and remade. And the spare bed half done.
Phone call from solicitor…was I sure? Eh yes! Did I want to be informed if English sale goes through? Eh no! What’s the point? The point was in over 12 weeks no progress had been made…so no I don’t want to know if it’s this Friday or five Fridays from now as I’ve made my decision to walk away.Phone call from movers …hurrah for my stuff coming back on Friday. Paid the balance of storage/delivery which wasn’t too bad ( ya know all things considered) as I’d already paid a deposit for the move . The girl I’ve been dealing with has been so nice.
Phone call to sister.
Then it was time for work. A service that quite affected me emotionally. And once again the loveliest of people.
Home via supermarket for Tuesday Tea food. And then sat for blooming 10 minutes in traffic lights at roadworks going in and going out.Hello doggy! And TT was a gammon joint, potatoes, parsnips, carrots, green beans and broccoli. Pud was an apple pie and ice cream. Lots of chatter and lots of laughter.
And that time when everyone is away and I get tidied up, grateful for friendship and grateful for the quiet afterwards.Just about to do the last doggy walk.9 -
Good morning. Very wet here. Again!
Had an iffy few days.
Another infection on Saturday and needed antibiotics so...starting at 7 am...
111 online
2 x 111 phone calls
2 x visits to out of hours clinic
4 x trips to different chemists
Finally, at 2:30 pm got my 6 very ordinary, very common antibiotics.!!
We were both exhausted by then ( DH had done all the driving)
But they worked and I'm nearly recovered, so am grateful really. But what an inefficient waste of everyone's time! Not ours. We're retired, but all the medical and admin staff needed for a very simple task.
Anyway, putting all that behind me, not much.else to report
Some Louise Penny books 99p on Kindle today so filled a gap in my collection. I'm re-reading them in order, interspersed with other books. Got a Ruth Galloway book from The Works. Might re-read them in order next. Kate is only 1 year old in this one!
Struggling to find anything to watch on tv so reading and listening to BBC sounds instead.
Supermarket today
Happy Wednesday everyone.

Glad you are feeling better now HappyCas
For yesterday,
Rain today so indoor jobs only, bread and rolls made which the kitchen smell good.
Scaled and tackled Mount Ironmore, even those pesky couple of bits right at the bottom of the basket.
At the yard, a brief thunderstorm stopped us for a bit but work done and girlie behaved well. The yard manager’s little granddaughter adores my pony ( it’s the whole Unicorn thing ) and visits her whenever she can. My big horse is so gentle with little people and is happy to swap kisses for a carrot.
Home, quick change as small dog had her monthly V E T S visit, talked through bad episode a couple of weeks back and vet thinks she had a stroke but thankfully there doesn’t seem to be much long term damage, she does however have the start of cataracts so that would explain the gradual sight loss.
Watched and enjoyed Bake Off, love bread week.

Pleasures for today (Wednesday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Bigger son brought his cats here for the day as the gas man was going to do the annual check on his house. The chap found there was a gas leak in the kitchen!
3) I went to town of my birth but nothing in the charity shops there today.
4) Had a pot of tea in Waitrose.
5) My "new" curtains came from Ebay for the patio doors. Too short (fault of the seller) so I spent the afternoon letting the hems down. They are an improvement on the old curtains which were here when I moved in.
6) Smaller son and I went to Tesco.
7) Waiting for a Sainsburys order at 9. Then I can do some batch cooking (tomorrow) and go back on the blood sugar diet...8
