Hello. Almost bedtime.
Early Schmearly…a doggy needed out.
I had work first thing this morning. Meeting a new family. Home briefly, had a FaceTime meeting with another family member overseas. In between all this an email from solicitor…the deepest of sighing however I had work to do. Replied with an I’ll call you later.
And a service this afternoon. Traffic was good on way down and excellent on way back!Had prepped Tuesday Tea at lunchtime, so we had sausages ( half were basted in an onion marmalade) roasted peppers/potatoes/carrots/last little parsnip. Corn on the cob. Coleslaw and potato salad, salad. Crusty bread. Feeding five of us ( with a can such a such come? Can they bring a plate with them! Plate was brought, they were fed! Chatter and laughter.Pudding was an apple and blackberry crumble. I’d some chopped apples in the freezer so used them and a couple of fresh ones and the blackberries that I got at food festival. Very yummy.Nice feedback from today’s service family…however I’ll be going to CP tomorrow to clear my headspace before I start writing again.I’ve spoken to my solicitor this afternoon. Decisions about to be made. But that and work stuff was just a bit too much on my brain today!
It’s been a nice enough day. Has stayed dry so a washing out and mostly dried. DD2 hung it up on the clothes horse to finish it off. Had a wander round the garden before looking at the stars. So time for bed and of course tomorrow is another day!8 -
Pleasures for today (Tuesday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Went round the charity shops with my brother (floody town) then he came here for a cup of tea.
3) Posted my friend's birthday present then walked on into town and went to the charity shops (bought nothing) and had a cup of tea in Costa. Somehow managed to avoid all the rain.
4) Watched another episode of Ludwig in the late afternoon.
5) Went to the football with smaller son. Watched another player break an ankle in front of us. Not as bad as the last one but still went off in an ambulance. Also someone took a wild kick at the goal and the ball soared across the terrace and hit me in the foot!
6) Popped to Tesco for cat milk.

For yesterday,
A very wet morning so indoor stuff only, made a loaf and left it to prove while I did a big wardrobe move round. All signs of summer packed away and room made for jumpers, several items put to one side for re-homing and a general tidy of bedroom. Was ready for mid morning cuppa.
Then opened a can of soup to have with my lunchtime roll as the rain made it feel very bbbrrr.
Over to the yard, roads were awful so glad I borrowed beloved’s bigger car as the lorries would have thrown tsunami type waves over the mini! My girlie was ready to come in but pleased to see that her rug had stood up to the downpour and she was dry underneath. All the thoughts of work went out the window as the rain kept coming down so sat on my grooming box in her stable and we listened to a podcast.
Felt a cba when it came to tea so got a Mr Sparks lasagne out of the freezer and we had that.
Watched & enjoyed the Bake Off.5 -

1. Apple Cake not long made and taken to someone who needs a treat.Yup, they are lumpy like this on top, not an & excuse.😄 Recipient really pleased.
2. Used up rtc fresh peaches and ditto granny smiths to make another for self.😋 Looking forward to trying it later.
3. Chaps' week off, so only women at rugby training yesterday. & inflicted beautiful emporium salads on them, usually expensive £s, all rtc 10p!!! Everyone v.happy.
4. D/ld'd 2 more crochet bootees patterns, hoping at least one will make sense. & has crocheted for over 60yrs, knows about different US and UK terms, but both patterns so far tried - baby shower for young rugby friends on Sunday - are nonsense.
5. Ref.osp3, excess post-training munch, some vg shepherd's pie, taken to Jimmy's Night Shelter last night. Enthusiastically received.🫶🤲🙂

Hello. Dark o’clock but just been out for my nightly peruse of the stars. Makes me think of my dad.Usual start to day. Doggy always comes first.
Pup dropped off.Phone calls to be made then waited on return call. Then me and my doggy boy went to CP ( pup was out with his walker) and had a beautiful walk. Trees are gorgeous. Found one lonely conker. Wasn’t down for too long as the internet signal was atrocious. Anyway I had work to do.Home and chat to sister…by this time I was procrastinating. So sat and wrote for a few hours. With a couple of calls in between.Sent that off and a couple of little amendments but happy they are happy.
DD2 phoned and said do you want a chippy! Oh okay!Nice doggy walk as sun was starting to set.Just hoovered downstairs as i shouldn’t have pup here for a couple of days. ( less dog hair)
Tomorrow is another day!!6 -
Pleasures for today (Wednesday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Up early so took a bag of garden waste to the tip.
3) Cleared the garage a bit and emptied the containers where the roof leaks.
4) Cleaned the porch (99% glass) and the floor in there so it looks much better.
5) Emptied all the bins and put the bin out.
6) Brought in any tomatoes that were left (I've fashioned a tiny greenhouse for the kitchen windowsill) and emptied the compost from the tomato pots onto the borders. Cleaned up bits that had blown into the garden and some weeds and clippings that had been out there ages - it has rained near constantly for 10 days!
7) Went to town of my birth and did all the charity shops (11!) Had a brand new dress from Sainsburys for £6 and a Mantaray top for £8.
8) Pot of tea in Waitrose.
9) The Olio lady had 3 enormous bags of bread so I took a loaf, sliced it and put it in the freezer. She also had wilting basil plants so I had one of those and trimmed the crumpled leaves off and it will be fine.
10) Smaller son and I went on a very rare cinema visit to watch the 20th anniversary showing of Shaun of the Dead! Seats chosen for maximum leg room.6 -
For yesterday,
Made a quick batch of dough for lunch rolls and then cleaned the bathrooms, as always the pleasure is only when done.
The farmer came with his chainsaw and tractor to cut up the big branch that had come off the beech tree, small dog sat in the garden for ages, listening but not being able to see through the hedge, she looked so cute with her head on one side.
We had one of the rolls each for lunch, still slightly warm with hard boiled egg in, yum.
At the yard and we did some work after a couple of days off, girlie was well behaved and deserved her treats. Cuppa in the kitchen with my friend.
Watched & enjoyed the second episode of Ludwig.7 -
Pleasures for today (Thursday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Window cleaners came to next door. I have never managed to get one to commit to coming here (been here over a year!) so I dashed out and he gave me a quote.
3) Did the charity shops in canal town but nothing there for me today.
4) Had a pot of tea in M and S.
5) Mowed one lawn.
6) The 19 year old cat has been very ill recently - a bit vague, very achey back legs, upset stomach on and off. We had hardened ourselves to this day for a long time. She wakes us up in the night by miaowing and is always scratching at the doors in the morning. (She is completely deaf so has no idea how loud she is).
No crying overnight. No scratching this morning. Completely gone. She has not walked further than the patio for 3 months.
Smaller son and I searched the garage, the garden and looked at next door's gardens from all angles (though she is too wobbly to get over a fence now). We remembered all the good times to the point that smaller son had to go and sit upstairs by himself for a bit.
7 hours went by.
Then the absolute madam came through the undergrowth by the pool (not our pool) and sauntered up the garden. I then carried her upstairs to smaller son so she could wave to him round the door !!
7) Making shakshuka for tea.
8) Will watch An Extra Slice later.
9) Big Sainsburys order coming at 10. Very necessary as we haven't even got any milk left for teas today.
10) Been offered over time and I shall do that tomorrow.9 -
Frith, I held my breath while reading about your absolute madam cat!For yesterday
1 I’ve started soaking the Christmas cake fruits and nuts.
2 Had to go over the bridge for fuel, and picked up some offers while there on chicken and ham, and some Christmas bits gathered
3 DH had his eye test in Costco, no changes, so no new glasses expense needed this time.
Saving these for when it’s easier…
For today
1 More progress to making the office a lovely place has been made, it's slow progress though getting there.
2 Washing loads on the line now the weather is allowing, taking up the whole line.
3 The C0stco chops are so thick I’ve had to cut them in half, they are currently in a foil steam package in the oven roasting.
4 I’ve put the 100 crocus bulbs in the ground, thankful for the bulb planter and weeding as I go. About 300 more bulbs to go.
5 Warm and toasty inside and the heating kicked in for a little bit.
6 I’ve just discovered a place called the National Memorial Arboretum; I never knew existed. It’s now on the list of places I would like to get to visit.
