Pleasures for today (Thursday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Walked into town and had a cup of tea in M and S. Somehow dodged the rain.
3) Had soup from the freezer for lunch (butternut squash?) then egg salad for tea.
4) Had lots of messages from people today, which was nice.
5) Managed to take the fridge light apart (needed lots of tools and brute force) and have ordered another one. They are weird LED strips so cost £11.
6) Bigger son's birthday present arrived.
7) Took smaller son to the dentist at 3. The dentist was all doom and gloom last week saying the tooth might not be mendable and need extracting. But today he poked and drilled and it is saved. When I looked especially relieved afterwards I told the dentist that bigger son has no front teeth (bike accident) and I can't have 2 sons with no teeth at the front!
8) Cleaned the bathroom.
9) Looking forward to An Extra Slice then Who Do You Think You Are? later. The rain is torrential so it is very much candles lit, hot water bottle ready, watching television weather.
10) GOING TO WORK in the morning !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!7 -
Have a good first day at work frith
have had a headache since about 3am that hasn’t really disappeared so I’m just waiting on DD2 picking up her doggy then I’m heading to bed.

chat to friend on her way to work.
I had some work to do. A couple of add on bits to my service.
Lovely FaceTime with DD1 who’s on holiday so was at the beach with her…whilst wearing a wooly jumper and listening to the rain and wind batter my window 😆
and generally nothing much else other than have a headache!Pup was dropped off at 5pm as DD2 at hairdressers, so hoping she’s not much longer.8 -

For yesterday,
Stables in the morning and girlie was fast asleep in her stable when I got there, had a chat with the yard owner and, given the heavy rain and dropping temperatures forecasted, decided to swap her straight onto winter routine of out during day and in at night. Think her current blue mood is due to be out at night so let’s change it.
Groom, bit of work in the school then put her straight out to have a few hours before the rain came over. Apologies to all that read and think I go on about her but she’s very precious to me and you can always skip over ☺️Home, quick change and then out to have lunch with brother. Good catch up.It was belting it down when I went to walk small dog, she quickly did her business under the beech trees and then turned for home, don’t blame her.
Capt S out at late meeting so I started watching Apples never fall and did three episodes back to back.8 -
Good afternoon. Crikey. It's cold here! Bitter wind but fortunately no real rain as yet.
BoP - good to see you, but sorry to hear about the ship's cat😞
Mhagster - it's no wonder you have a headache. The house buying saga is enough to give anybody one.
Frith - good luck on your first day
Lainey - I never tire of hearing about your horse. It's a whole new world to me!
Nothing much to report here but that's good!
Ploughing my way through holiday washing but in this weather it's tricky ( no tumble dryer!) But at least I don't need to iron summer clothes before putting them away
And have got out winter clothes from the cupboard. They do need ironing though!
I'm sure left overs/ bitsas have been breeding in our freezer!. Still trying to use them up! Some good soup combinations in there!
Watched Grand Designs as it was just down the road from where our caravan was. Not too sure about the house but reminded us of the beautiful views from Flamborough head. It really is fantastic there.
Happy blowy day everyone8 -
lainey don’t stop talking horses…I’ll keep talking doggy! They are part of our family ( and very much part of our day which is what this thread is all about!!)
A fairly decent sleep I think 🤔 !
Emails from solicitors first thing…sigh!
Was stripping my bed and dog jumped on it and ended up with a rainbow 🌈 on his nose! The reflection of sunshine on my mirror…or maybe just a little bit of magic!
Popped into old work to get paint and had a nice chat with everyone there.
Went to CP. We had a lovely walk though it was blooming chilly! Could have done with a jacket on!Found a few conkers .And I just relaxed…watched a nice film ‘same time next year’ which has a nice happy ending. And a nice drive home…popped into supermarket.
And had literally just walked in when my phone was ringing…and the people I’m supposed to be buying from estate agent…honestly I’m beyond over all of this nonsense and slightly peed off that it always seems to upset my good mood when I’m in my happy place! So then I called my solicitor straight away…
Chat to sister.
Had a ready meal curry for tea which was nice.Just watching sun set. Heating is on for an hour. Candle is lit. It’s been a beautiful dry but cold day , washing was almost dry so just finishing off on radiators…and I need to make my bed!9 -
In a spot of excellent parenting, I left the fridge light dangling yesterday (ordered the new part). Smaller son went in for a bit of midnight cheese and got an electric shock! He was so confused he reached for the cheese again and had 2 more shocks! He is unharmed.
Pleasures for today (Friday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) New job. 4 hours of induction - 2 hours doing training on the computer and 2 hours of being shown round and ordering my uniform. Everyone seemed very jolly.
3) Went to see bigger son for his birthday as he will be camping on the day. I bought him a mushroom growing kit and a fidget toy (as he uses them to destruction).
4) Sausages for tea.
5) Smaller son and I walked down to look at the floods from the rain overnight.
6) Phoned my school friend.7 -
the tale of the shocking cheese frith
1) a beautiful day - 2 lots of washing washed and dried (my Venice stuff and ds's bedding)
2) coffee with a colleague
3) dinner with band friends at leader's house
4) then practice - we're doing a ceilidh 25th
5) then they gave me a lift home to drop off my accordion and then onto the pub where DrM bought me a pint - sadly to drown my sorrows (Luton lost 3-1) but a good evening apart from thatMrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

For yesterday,
Woke up early hours to rain lashing against the window and the happy thought that my pony wasn't out in it but instead she was snug and dry in her stable.
My beloved had the day off so we headed out to the farm shop for breakfast, had our usual of snorker bap & coffee.
Bit of admin work much procrastinated over with regard to pensions etc and how our money needs to work for us before Capt S retires in 5 years time. All done and sorted.
Over to the yard and oh hello there much happier pony, brought her in, washed her muddy legs off and sorted out her hay net etc. Tidied away her fly rugs as doubt we will need those again this year and they can go in to be cleaned. Sorted out stable rugs, fleeces etc and left them on our rack ready.
Home, watched cricket and cooked tea, skies cleared and it was a cold but clear evening so warmer blankets popped on small dog’s bed.7
