Just lost a long post ! Grrr. In summary:
Up early.Pup dropped off.
Into town to get a few things.
Home.Snoozette.
Vet for dog. Blooming expensive but he has an eye infection. Which must be sore and uncomfortable.
Call on the way out of vets with an offer for work on Monday.
Tuesday Tea. Mince round and lots of veg.
Empire biscuits for pud and lots of chatter.8 -
For yesterday,
Woke up and house was cold with colder temperatures predicted for later in the week so quick decision to test heating by putting it on! Our plumbing has history of being a bit leaky but all ok and house warmed up nicely.
The rain continued all morning so inside jobs only, bread made and sorted through a cupboard.
Over to see my equine pal, she was in a grumpy mood and was pulling faces at the geldings on either side of her stable, oh dear. Groom then turned her out and she really was in a foul mood as after accepting her apple she walked away as if to say you can go now!
Luckily my little girl still loved her Mum even if she did take her to the vets for her monthly injection and to pick up more medication. We didn’t see our usual vet and the other one didn’t even give her a treat so not a satisfactory visit at all.
Tea was baked fish with veg then we settled down to watch the football.6 -
Early schmearly.
Down at CP just after 8am. Had hoped to go for a swim and was suitably attired but for some reason the pool wasn’t open. Did a bit of painting. Saw a squirrel. Had a nice walk and left just before 11am
Home and showered and ready to go to work. A lovely service for a lovely family. Was invited back to the tea which was nice and sat with the family. Met an old work colleague from years ago so had a nice chat with her. Was given a lovely card with beautiful words and a nice gift which always surprises me but is so kind and very much appreciated.
Home and hello doggies…Pup had just arrived back just before I was going out this afternoon and was absolutely covered in mud so a hastily placed packing box was put on stairs so he couldn’t get up and throws put on sofas!A bright afternoon, very blowy and cool. But bright. Washing almost dried.
DD2 picked up pup, went a quick walk then they left and I went to see mum’s NDN…my head just needed a bit of normality. My brain has felt rather frazzled this week. So a breezy walk there ( met 2 sets of people…”what’s happening with the house?” Sigh! And one on the way back “what’s happening…”
if only I knew. Anyway nice hour or so chatting but left before it got dark. Beautiful sky. Beautiful half moon, like it’s been sliced right down the middle.6 -
Pleasures for today (Wednesday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Organised with bigger son that he would come round and just snip the two long "triangles" where my hair has grown really long at the back of my neck.
3) Walked into town and around the charity shops. Thought I would go home and meet bigger son. Had washed my hair before I set off. Was then in the flight path of a seagull which messed down the back of my hair, all down my dress and even my handbag has had to go in the washing machine!
4) Got home, had another shower, then bigger son cut my hair! I made him a cheese and ham toastie.
5) Made tomato sauce to go with meatballs for tea then a big rice pudding.
6) Watched 25 years of Grand Designs, including the rock house that bigger son stayed in overnight at a party.6 -
For flips sake, I’ve lost 2 posts now..
1 Popped £20 into Fuses fund instead of having take away tonight, which is now breaded fish and oven chips.
2 Crocus blubs planted up for the ferret’s memorial, but a lot more needed, they don’t go far!
3 The van is packed up.
4 Must stop looking at Joe Browns as my to buy list keeps getting longer.

oo a wedding Happycas - sounds wonderful
been horribly busy at work till 4pm today so let's reflect on pleasures
1) watched the footie with DrM last night - always a pleasure
2) someone brought in some shortbread and we got to work sorting the boxes which have been in storage since covid lockdown day
3) colleague realised old printer is in small room off our new teaching room so we have a printer again - we moved all the paper from the kitchen cupboard (previous group had their printer in there!) to our new printer room
4) phoned dd2 - she is sounding much better
5) home to supper, a soak in the bath while watching The Proposal, film finished in bed.MrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

Good morning. It's bright but oh so cold! The weatherman says the wind is coming from the Arctic circle. And I believe him.
Now the dust is settling from the wedding we're straight in to getting ready for our trip to Lake Maggiore. Think we should have given ourselves a bit more of a break really but we're squeezing it in before DH next course of treatment. So much washing, ironing and packing going on here.
It's also leading to some strange using-up meal combinations. All good though never can be replicated.
Spent a lovely hour last night watching the slideshow ( on our tv) of the professional photos from DS wedding. It was 5 years ago but it's taken us this long to get it sorted. We didn't have a CD player or Blu ray or somesuch! But Dson's FiL has put it on a stick ( firestick?) and even came round and sorted it all out on our tv. DS once said I had all the technical knowhow of a sweeping brush! Rude! But he's right😂
So today. Buy euros. Book taxi to station. Pack.
Happy chilly day everyone

For yesterday,
A few admin things done first thing, checked out oil prices and there are still low despite recent drop in temperatures so put in an order. I also emailed a local company for some advice on which yard boots would be the best fit, mine are looking quite raggedy now and are letting in water. Pleasure is we have money put aside for both of these in our bill pots.
Over to the yard in the morning for a change, my girlie is still a moody mare but the physio picked up on her being a bit sensitive on left hand side of face on Monday so am wondering if she has a sharp bit on a tooth. That would make sense as it’s nearly a year since she was seen by equine dentist so another phone call made.
Home, cold and hungry so opened a tin of soup for lunch.Got a batch of beef stew in the slow cooker and was smelling yum by the time Capt S came home from work.
Watched and enjoyed the cricket, shame about the result.6 -
Pleasures for today (Thursday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Lovely and cold!
3) Went to the town of my birth first thing. A cup of tea in Waitrose but they were late getting the free newspaper again.
4) Went round all the charity shops carefully and found some M and S new jeggings (I have lost enough weight that my existing jeggings aren't tight on my legs anymore). Also a dress and an Ouba knitted jumper.
5) Back home and smaller son wanted some ham rolls. The Olio lady had left out tons of food and I had picked up some soft rolls and focaccia so he had 2 of the rolls and the rest went in the freezer.
6) Made smaller son a pizza for tea.
7) Mowed the lower lawn, which had got a bit long.
8) Played a bit of chess online.
9) Smaller son played catch with me in the garden for quite a while and we walked to Tesco and back this evening.
10) Will watch Who Do You Think You Are? just now.6 -
Hello…and hello bed! I’ve just had a wee wander round the garden, looking at the stars, it’s cold but beautiful.
Early start.
The most stunning sunrise.
Up and ready for work and down in more than enough time so had a 20 minute chat with DD1.Service went well this morning. Big phew that the two together are done and went well. Introduced myself to my old friend’s ( who sadly died years ago) husbands new ( ish !) wife. I recognised her from FB photos so thought I should say hello. She was very nice.Popped into supermarket. Met friend from school in carpark so had a lovely chat with her.Home briefly. Had a quick lunch and then back out again. Couldn’t get blooming parked in town so drove round and round until I found a space.Popped into one of my work establishments just to say hello. Quick chat and lovely feedback from yesterday. Told I could have parked there but didn’t want to assume as that’s not where I was working but will bear it in mind for next time!Met a new family this afternoon. Honestly it’s such a privilege to be doing what I now do. I’ve written the first draft of the service this evening and it’s been approved with no amendments.Phones been off most of the day whilst I’m working so when I left I saw I had an email from solicitor. I’d emailed this morning to see if there had been even the tiniest of news…this morning there was nothing…this afternoon there was a smidgeon. However still deeply sighing!Had a pup here so quick walk with him.DD2 kindly picked up a Vinted parcel for me at silly lockers in town. Anyway it’s a very nice linen top.Had the loveliest baked potato for my tea! Saw a small tub of RTC coleslaw when I was in supermarket and thought oooh that would be nice! Baked whilst I typed…with an eat my tea break in between.Had just pressed send when I saw I’d almost missed the sunset but caught the very last of it before it got dark.Just sat replying to texts from friends checking in with how I am,It’s been a lot colder today although it was nice and bright through the day. Had the heating on for a wee while whilst I was working. And I am now ready for bed!6
