Hello.
Recent pleasures:
1) Gave in to a dark, chilly evening, curled up with a good programme and candles lit.
2) A lovely day with my brother and sister, catching up and laughing. and a long chat with my other brother.
3) Stocked up on meat from their local butcher, all now tucked away in the freezer apart from a gammon joint just out of the slow cooker and finishing off in the oven.
4) Little fella had a good first day back at school. He now has some additional responsibilities as one of the big boys like holding the door open for the teachers!
5) Eldest grandson has had an accommodation offer from Uni which will be perfect for his first year.
Lamps on already and tea in the oven so another cosy night in store and the Monday quizzes to catch up on - simple, quiet 'Monday tea' pleasures, always the best, we don't hanker after excitement and drama, just everybody ok and where they need to be.
Have a good evening.7 -
Hello.Early schmearly. Was odd having an overnight lodger! ( daughter) same again tonight.
Went to caravan for an hour exactly this morning. As I wanted last chair there and a coat of paint in wee bedroom and a doggy walk. It was miraculously dry on t( walk but the ground was so soggy. Then it was back home and straight out to work. Was actually sunny at this point. Met the loveliest family. They were so nice.
And home. Hello doggies.Started writing first draft of script then pressed send about an hour ago! I always say give me a couple of days but I prefer to write as soon as I can whilst it’s all in my head.Had pie and beans for tea when DD2 came home. And we’ve just been a doggy walk at dusk ( now pitch dark) via my friends letterbox! Found an extra screw from the table I was giving away, so popped it in an envelope. And I’m actually tired so I’m ready for bed.7 -
Pleasures for today (Wednesday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Went to the Food Share place from 9.30 until about 1pm. I chopped probably 80 punnets of strawberries ready for jam making then peeled some onions. I said to smaller son afterwards that it is fast paced (they're catering for up to 50 as well as doing bags of produce for £3) so I couldn't say it was very enjoyable but you left feeling you had done something worthwhile.
3) Had hummus for brunch then roasted chicken wings for dinner and had 2 with some salad.
4) Took smaller son to Sainsburys.
5) Went with my brother to do a bat survey. I sat on the back lawn of a house, miles from anywhere, really completely dark after 9pm. I was on a little deckchair, clipboard and pen on my knee, headphones on (connected to a bat detector), phone balanced precariously (for the light and to check the times to write down).
To my right was a tripod with hundreds of pounds of technical equipment tethered to it - a camera, a infrared (?) array of lights and a computer to record and interpret any noise. It records constantly so you can see the soundwaves if you cough. We don't really talk once the equipment is running as my brother's friend will play it back at some point...
I was listening to a bat at 20kHz and writing that down (in the dark). Then I heard a very persistent bat at 25kHz, which seemed strange and also appeared to be heading for me. At the very last second, I looked down and, charging for the tripod, was one of those robot lawnmowers! I nearly jumped out of my skin and of course will be on the audio shouting, "Bloody hell, no, get away, get away!" I had to slide down in the chair and knock it off its course with my foot!
6) Got home and the cat is continuing to improve, having 2 normal sachets of food. I sat on the new terrace (the slabs formerly under the shed!) and the fairy lights for a bit.5 -
good news about the cat frith the boy wonder continues to enjoy 3 meals a day
1) yesterday was a loooong day - finished reading a phd at 1 in the morning - the mse pleasure/? it is now read
2) refuse collectors - our road is closed for 2 weeks so our bin didn't get emptied and I carried a big bag down to the collection point so mse pleasure #2 is definitely the wonderful refuse collectors who normally empty my bins!
3) my colleagues - we have the odd bump but I do believe we're getting there
4) the last leg - I have laughed soooo much
5) the archers - I feel a denouement fast approachingMrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

For yesterday,
Strapped in my furry co-pilot and drove through horsey town to her fortnightly hydrotherapy session, as always there was such a variety of dogs in the waiting area, some looking very anxious but my old veteran fell asleep at my feet.
Home and Capt S had made lunch for all 3 of us.
Had intended to do some groundwork with equine pal but she was so dirty that I ended up giving her a bath instead, she wasn’t impressed and time was of the essence in the hot wash.
Cup of tea and a chat in the yard kitchen with my friend.
Planted up all but two of the plants picked up on Monday, bit of autumn colour in the garden.5 -
Pleasures for today (Thursday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Went to the tip with the sweeping and bits from the old shed.
3) Went to Waitrose and the free newspaper still isn't out! Had a pot of tea.
4) Went to get my brother a book for his birthday from the little bookshop. I had a £10 voucher there so that was free.
5) Went round the charity shops there and got an M and S t shirt then also looked round the charity shops in canal town on my way home.
6) Booked 2 activities as part of Heritage Open Days. I would recommend having a look. https://www.heritageopendays.org.uk/
7) Hoovered, tidied, changed smaller son's bed, did a load of washing. Retrieved my winter boots from the garage and had to hoover them as they were so dusty,
8) Cleaned the bathroom.
9) Made smaller son and chicken and pesto toastie for lunch then a BBQ chicken pizza for tea. (Chicken left over from yesterday). I had figs, feta and beetroot roast for my lunch then 2 chicken thighs and salad for tea.
10) Will watch Who Do You Think You Are? later.6 -
1) a lovely autumnal day
2) chilli for lunch and supper (needed to be in work for both so packed both, very mse, very tasty)
3) lost my denim jacket, i think on the bus but checked with lost property at the School - there was one denim jacket, not mine but my size, I shook my head and they said well it's about to go to the charity shop so if you want it it's yours.
4) lovely choir practice - singing is most definitely one of my mse pleasures
5) and now in bed with a cuppa and the urchers.MrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

See if I can type really quickly with 3% battery left!Yesterday.Early schmearly. Watched a beautiful sunrise.
Had to go over to DD2 house to pick up something to drop off at her work. Leaves falling off trees beautifully as I drove past.
Thought oh I’ll go to B&Q on way back into town ( every blooming big shop is way at the other side of town from where I live) …hmm why are all these people standing outside. That would be the fire alarm …and thankfully all good and didn’t have to wait too long. Got a tub of paint.Couldn’t get a parking space near her work so literally parked on double yellows for 2 minutes, ran ( and I do NOT run as a general rule 😆) and dropped it off.Round to work place. Got some details sorted out. Quick chatter.Home. Hello doggy. Hello solicitor. Hello Pup returning from his walk …all at the same time. The slight optimism felt last Friday has disappeared. This is the most ridiculous situation I have ever known. I am beyond over it all.
The afternoon was a combination of pup being collected/ work stuff/ taking sweet peas down. The last two I went back and forth doing.
Had a cheese and onion toastie ( airfryer toastiest are so good!) for tea.It was a dry day but it’s been a very windy night. With a dog needing out…and a pile of sick to clean up this morning…however that would be the turtles leg he ate yesterday off of the pups toy. Sigh!
Today there is wind and warmth forecast. So I’m thinking painting at caravan this morning then home this afternoon. No extra doggy today so can do what and when we like.Have a good day5 -
Mhags, I miss my old choccie Labrador very much, the regular vomiting not so much!
For yesterday,
Went through upstairs and cleaned the bathrooms, as always the pleasure is only when done.
Popped down to the large GC in the village, the nursery knocks them hands down for plants but they do have a good selection of greeting cards. Chose a lovely one for DDIL, plus some wrapping paper, oh and nice candle for the sconce in the inglenook. Had some points on my loyalty card so only had 80p to pay.
Over to the yard and by this time the wind had really got up but I wanted to get some work down after mudgate the day before, bless my pony she coped with trees swaying, leaves swirling around her head and her two stable companions being led past her on their way out to the paddocks without missing a beat. She got lots of treats ☺️Home and gave myself a manicure.
A very mild evening but dark by 8pm so lit my new candle.6 -
