And streeeetch! Just finished my first draft of a service. And sent it off…eek! The most silly nights sleep or lack of. I am tired when I go to bed, I usually can fall asleep I just can’t stay asleep!Anyway early schmearly. The most beautiful morning. Had an early morning chat to sister…who is also an early riser.
Out to work this morning.
Then quick home and a hello doggy I’m off out again and off I went to the caravan without him ( for the first time) but niece and great nephew were coming and we were going to the pool! It was glorious! Then DD2 and her dog arrived and it all got a bit noisy and chaotic.
The niecelys left and it was a tad quieter. DD2 took table base home in her car ( and she’d put it in garage and she’d taken H a quick walk ) all by the time me and The Pup motored home the slow way! She’s happy to zoom down the motorway. We sat out in the garden. She picked a big bunch of sweet peas that had two bees in it! Quick doggy walk .And they left and it was just me and my dog….ahhhh the peace. And then I’ve just sat and typed up a script. I need to meet another person in connection with this so there will be more to add.But oh so nice to see sunshine today!7 -
Good news about the train driving, VJsmum.
Pleasures for today (Saturday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Went to Waitrose, unfortunately driving past MrU on the way. He looked a healthier colour than the last time I drove past him. Had a cup of tea in Waitrose but they had no free Weekend newspaper - the horror!
3) Off to Hobbycraft afterwards. I had forgotten how much I like that shop. Jam jars were 3 for 2 and that is what I was after.
4) Spent hours and hours making damson jam which hasn't really set. 22 jars.
5) Went to bigger son's house to feed his cats (he is in Cornwall). Smaller son went with me.
6) Went to Sainsburys briefly.
7) My ancient cat hasn't eaten for several days and my neighbour recommended cat soup. Got some from Sainsburys and she has already had 2 pouches and will have a 3rd before she goes to bed! So that is a big relief.
8) British Gas have been absolutely stupid for the year I have lived in this house, setting up 2 accounts for this address then sending dozens of conflicting bills regarding each account, stuffing up making me an online account or setting up a direct debit. This left me in debt (as I had no way to pay then and didn't know which bill had the right amount on). Today I had a letter saying one of the accounts (not the one I now manage online) is £96 in credit and they're going to put it back in my bank !!!!
In annoying news, a flake of tooth has fallen off one of smaller son's eye teeth. I'm sure you can guess how much he loves going to the dentist...6 -
The farmer decided to combine the crop the day after we’d cleaned the windows HappyCas! but like you we love living in the country.
For yesterday,
Early trip to the farm shop for some breakfast and a visit to their meat counter. We sat in their conservatory where dogs are permitted and were joined by a couple with their two spaniels, one of which was an anxious barker. The poor lady kept apologising for the noise but the dog was a rescue and they were trying to get it used to social situations, they think she came from a puppy farm where she’d just been used for breeding and wasn’t used to being a pet ☹️ We got permission for a fuss and a cuddle, plus one of the staff came out with dog treats.
Baked a loaf and wrote a grocery list for next weekend when we have a house full.
It was a warm afternoon so my pony dozed in the sunshine while I tidied up her mane & tail, despite the warm temperatures the shortening days mean she is shedding her summer coat and getting her winter one through so is a tad itchy. She points out the spots and Mum deals with them!
Listening to cricket and Mr Joseph Root hit another 100 to become England’s all time highest century batsman, such an unassuming chap but a phenomenal sportsman. The farmer was rolling the fields when I got home so sky was full of seagulls, where do they all come from?6 -
puppy farms are the pits laineyt well done to that lady for trying to give the poor wee mite a normal home
many thanks for the birthday wishes - been flat out since so a quick 5 up to yesterday
1) we made it home smoothly from Switzerland and the nice driver let us get the 9am bus back rather than wait for the 10:30 (the one we were booked on in case our flight was delayed)
2) caught up with gbf after a nap - we went to the hound of the baskervilles, a fabulous outdoor performance by Illyria and we had churros and hot chocolate in the interval
3) a glorious sunny day yesterday - sat out in the garden and enjoyed
4) went to home bargains to get dog food recommended by MrG for poorly pooch (who has recovered his appetite i'm pleased to say) - ahem I might have started Christmas shopping!
5) then dinner with a colleague at another colleague's house - a lovely eveningMrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

Pleasures for today (Sunday)
1) A good sleep and a nice dream about meeting up with someone I haven't seen for decades.
2) Went to Sainsburys to have a pot of tea in the cafe and read more of my magazine. Perused the free book shelf and got Sarah Millican's autobiography.
3) Came home and did some weeding in the garden and cut off some of the leaves off the courgettes as they are stopping any sunlight getting through.
4) Hummus and veg for lunch, sausage, fried egg, tomatoes and avocado for tea.
5) Cooked some beetroot ready for tomorrow.
6) The cat has made a miraculous recovery (though she is miaowing and fussing still). Had several more sachets of cat soup but has managed 2 sachets of proper cat food.
7) Went to bigger son's to feed their cats.
8) Cleared the shed out as it is going on Tuesday. I have never used it so it just had empty refuse sacks in there (the heavy duty ones I used for rubble when clearing the garden).
9) A torrential rainstorm.
10) Watched Casualty.6 -
Hello.
Some very quick pleasures, tea is nearly ready:
1) Back to school this week in our neck of the woods. It's been a blast but ready for some routine now.
2) We were invited to son's partner's son's (!!) wedding party after their wedding in Cyprus. Really fab evening.
b
3) First week at chubby club and a 5.5lb loss. Hooray!
4) Some lovely reading on the go and 6 new releases from the library just this morning.
5) Meeting brother, sister in law and my sister for lunch tomorrow and then staying for tea at my brother's so a nice big catch up.
Hope you've had a good weekend, and here we are in September - a big pleasure, my favourite month.6 -
for today
1) bit of a mix-up with the tune for the 1st hymn - we (the choir) didn't of course let that put us off
2) the boy wonder is still chirpy - he likes his chappie (3 small meals a day) and i'm taking him for very short walks
3) The Range - goodness it's been far too long since I've been though did manage to get away with just 3 (needed) flannels - mum bought me a very nice picture for my kitchen - lovely cafe too
4) 2nd half of Man U game with the lads - almost wishing I'd been there for the whole match
5) home for yummy dinner - ys pork joint in a very nice sauce
And now of course the Archers and The Last Leg - I am in bed alreadyMrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

Hello. Bedtime…and I actually slept right through last night…after saying I never do.
Anyway early schmearly.
Watched a gentle sunrise.
Went to supermarket as I had a voucher £6 off £40 spend, that expired today. Now I don’t really spend that much as it’s just me but I went round with my calculator and spent it , got a single quilt for caravan. That bumped it up. There was an older gentleman who I’ve encountered before who thinks he knows me…oh my goodness. He ended up behind me at the checkout, asking me all sorts…was I married, I’d a lovely sense of humour, what a lovely smile and on and on. And I know he didn’t mean any harm but I started to find it a wee bit creepy. So was glad when I was finished.Home just as a Pup was getting dropped off.Friend came to collect table and chairs, so it was a bit to me to you to get it in her car. Then she drove and I walked to hers to unload then back again. Borrowed a spanner off neighbour across the road to take new to me table to bits as it’s too wide to get through caravan doors. Will start taking that down bit by bit this week ( I only have a wee car)
Started to clean kitchen drawers/ cupboards in anticipation of a phone call this week. They have been empty for weeks so was just to give them a wipe over.Started to clean oven. Have left stuff on overnight.
DD2 collected her doggy and brought me orange roses and chocolate buttons as its Father’s Day in Australia.
Sister called. I’d been snoozing and she doesn’t normally call at that time. So I was a bit discombobulated 😀
Been watching 2 new baby collared doves who’ve spent their first day out the nest on my fence. I’ll miss my birds but I’m sure I’ll have new ones. I remember when we first moved here I was worried there’d be no birds! As we had a big garden with big trees and lived nearer woodlands. But of course we did. I hope the new owners have some water for the mummy and daddy collared doves as they often come down to the bird baths each day.
Rain back on.7 -
hello again !
1 and biggest .My House guest was taken home tonight after 3 weeks !
DS and DGS2 collected their cat who came to stay whilst the family was on holiday .She was a lot harder work than last year and I have several scratched patches on my carpet ,she got stuck behind a kitchen cupboard and I had to remove the kickboard to rescue her ! DS replaced it for me ! Sure by next summer my memories will be nicer !
2 very pleased with my new gas fire
3 Ditto my recovered dining chairs
4 The diet is starting properly tomorrow ( how many times have I said that lately)
5 My hip is brilliant and I am managing some gardening and getting the house straight again .8 -
Frith, glad puddy cat is eating again.
DD, Glad much loved pooch has also found an appetite.
1 A bit of cleaning and the usual wash loads on the line, but it’s feeling like autumn today.
2 A hm burger with onion rings and mozz sticks rather than chips.
3 The various salad leaves and rocket is starting to come up, I’m hoping it does like before and sees us through winter.
4 Took everything out of the bathroom cabinet and put half back, the rest is either going to people or past it.
For today,
1 Many hours spent in the front garden, digging, and doubling the front garden border, and lining it with good concrete edging, after the recycled wood rotted away.
2 It feels like we earned dinner, which was leftover takeaway.
3 I may have just hung a wash load out at 10.30pm, well why not. I kept star gazing.
4 A well-earned bath.
5 Meal planned for a few days.
