I have escaped dreich Dundee for a while mhags
1) trip to Basel starting horribly early Saturday but whole journey uneventful and ibis is clean and comfortable and the weather is gloriously summery
2) trams are fabulous - you get a free ticket for each day you're checked in and we have already made good use
3) meeting old friends and making new ones - the conference is now in full swing and there are over 4000 delegates with quite a few our alumni or current students so our stall has been buzzing
4) mum has renamed ill dog Lazarus - i suspect more he has turned into a cat and getting through his 9 lives - he has refound his appetite so fingers crossed
5) packed some pampering stuff and had a 1 hour pamper back in the hotel in between the day session and the evening reception - it was wonderful and about time i used the face mask / pedicure socks / manicure gloves - think they must have been a christmas present and will defo repeat next time i go to a conference so long as i have hold luggage (needed scissors!)MrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

For yesterday,
An awful nights sleep ( definitely not a pleasure and seems to be a problem again ) but getting up for a cuppa and small dog cuddles helped.
As I didn’t go Friday a trip over to see equine girlie, she is shedding her summer coat and is a tad itchy so a long groom followed by some lunge work and a walk around the farm. The sun was out but I needed a sweatshirt in the keen wind.
Homegrown courgettes with our chicken lunch, we caught up on all things Ambridge as well.
Sat on the sofa to read and next thing I knew it was 5.45! Apparently small dog had been staring at me for nearly an hour, willing me to wake up and give her tea!
Watched the new series of Sherwood, bit dark for a Sunday night but well done.4 -
Good afternoon. Bit autumnal here but not raining so we'll count that as a win
Lainey - thanks for mentioning Mum. Have found it on iPlayer and happily watching again.
Had a happy weekend.
Met DS for breakfast and had a lovely long chat
Went with DD yesterday to buy supplies ready for making mini flower arrangements for the cake table at the wedding.
Whilst there I got some crepe paper to make some flowers. The instructions with it said to use a gluegun. I have an unreasonable fear of glue guns! No idea why but I do know my mum made lots of paper flowers before glue guns were thought of, so I think I'll just use glue.
DH has decided he's on a diet. Two weeks to DD wedding! So lots of salad etc bought today. Wonder if he'll manage to keep it up for two weeks before he gets cross and goes back to chips!
So prawn stir fry for tea it is. And no pudding!
Happy Monday everyone

Hello. Think the weather said enough of her moaning! And today has been dry. Just remade my bed that’s been out in the line.Up early then dozed off again.
Went to big supermarket at other end of town to get a pair on non black trousers. Got a pair in the sale but they are ridiculously huge so will take them back.
popped into see a work colleague just to say hello ( and remember me!) I’d had to turn an opportunity down the other week as I had a prior commitment.
And hello doggy but I’m not in for long. Had a learning experience for work. Which was so sad. And feels slightly intrusive ( though I was there with full permission from the family) . Had to drive to a new to me place and on the motorway. Well out of my comfort zone all round I think but I did it.Home and had a voicemail from solicitor. Sigh. Called back. It is so absolutely ridiculous it’s almost unbelievable. Yet it’s my life! However the mobile library was back after the chap was off on holiday. Hurrah. Chatter. Books and poo bags!Chatted to a neighbour who was out a walk with her wee girl.
Then hello doggy, that’s me in…oh wait I’m just nipping out! Neighbour in next street had a kids nightlight ( for caravan) for free on local FB page so nipped round to get that , explained it was for when great nephew stayed over and we needed to get some games from charity shops…come in…4 boxes of games later!
Then stood and chatted to her next door neighbour about the continuing saga that is my life…then in and FaceTimed GN to show him what I’d got.Steak pie and veggies for tea…was cooking whilst I was yapping.
And tomorrow is another day.5 -
A very busy day at the conference but defo some good things to look back on
1) the hotel does a very nice breakfast
2) lots of visitors at the stand, some alumni, some people I have met at other conferences, and some new people
3) conference food is very good - lots of salad at lunch - i may have gone up for seconds ;-)
4) the day was dry and a nice temperature
5) we went Italian for supper - the restaurant was the one we found on Saturday - it was extremely pleasant sitting outside
Sad to see about Sven. Now catching up on the Archers.MrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

Pleasures for today (Monday, confusingly)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Lost 5lbs last week.
3) Cooked Spanish chicken for the freezer and just roasted the 3 remaining chicken thighs for sandwiches etc.
4) Went to the football and our team won 4-0! We were top of the league temporarily (until another team elsewhere scored).
5) Played a few games of chess on the computer.
6) Will watch 24 Hours of Police Custody at 9.5 -
Enjoying reading that "Lazarus" has found food enjoyment. DD.
1 A maxi skirt I’ve had my eye on for months was half price in the bank holiday sale, I thought twice because of the postage but when I ordered it, it said postage was free this bank holiday, so an unexpected budget pleasure.
2 We really didn’t do much today, but food was cooked and washing on the line.
3 Absolutely enjoying 2 books one is facts, one is fiction.
4 Watched the Union on Netflix and enjoyed it.
5 Sticking to the diet, and it feels like continually meal planning.

For yesterday,
Had totally forgotten that it was a BH so was a bit up and at’em first thing, used to smile at my parents when they said that all the days run into one when you’re retired but it’s true!
My beloved wanted to finish off the hedge so I went over to the yard, girlie was fast asleep in her stable when I got there but got up when she saw me. Long groom then I turned her out early, it was a lovely day with a cool breeze but lots of sunshine and I wanted her to make the most of it. Chat with yard owner.
Home and Capt S had finished so quick spruce up and we went to BuryStEds for the second day of their food & drink festival.
Nice afternoon and I had a glass of sangria in the sun, picked up a few bits from the local produce stalls.
Quick walk with small dog and then cobbled together a meal with cold meat & salads.

Hello again.
Feels a bit Monday-ish today but then yesterday felt very Sunday-ish. Nearly September, the year marches on and the days are shorter but I love the 'new pencil case' feel at this time of year.
Recent pleasures:
1) An afternoon of sunshine and brass bands and ice cream yesterday, lovely way to spend a Sunday afternoon - and a BH Monday afternoon too. Had a lovely long chat beforehand with younger brother who is recovering well from his recent radiotherapy treatment.
2) Middle grandson passed all his GCSEs with flying colours and is now enrolled at his first choice college for A Levels.
3) Son and eldest grandson had a trip to look round his chosen Uni, great facilities with the option of a year in Canada or the USA between years 2 and 3. He is very excited.
4) Took littlest grandson for his weekend away to include a boat trip which he greatly enjoyed and we have a few more days with him this week before he goes back to school next week.
5) I have a son who can be relied on to take charge in a crisis so when eldest grandson rang at 2am from the music festival to say their tent and all his and his mates' possessions had been stolen he went and brought them all home and got them sorted. Rotten end to their A Level results celebrations but my lad has the right mix of sympathy and practicality and I am very glad that my grandchildren have someone they can ring at any time knowing he will be there for them.
Hope you enjoyed the Bank Holiday, have a good day today whatever you are up to.5
