Pleasures for today (Thursday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Went to the Food Share place and it was amazing! They were cooking roast lamb for 50 and had all the stock out ready - tins, fruit and veg, nappies, cut flowers and even birthday cakes. Even the toilets had been decorated with panelling, wallpaper and chandeliers.
3) Went to Waitrose but they didn't have the free newspaper.
4) Got free bread, watercress and a bag of lemons from the Olio lady.
5) Made an egg mayo and watercress sandwich for smaller son with egg mayo and salad for me.
6) The cat might be ever so slightly better.
7) Smaller son and I went to Sainsburys for more cat milk.
8) Spanish chicken for tea for me with shepherds pie for smaller son. (Both from the freezer).
9) Split up a big pot of lemon thyme and I will take some to the coffee morning tomorrow. Repotted a bit to live in the kitchen.
10) Played the piano.6 -
Frith, I was talking to DH about your car on a shopping trip today, which also prompted me to go hmm, the car I’m in is 23 years old blimey it’s doing okay. Granted, it does have rust now, but it’s still getting through mot’s touch wood.
D4V, I think you are right, the thinking about food will at some point drive me nuts, but it was also an eye-opener that I had got into some “bad / easy” habits.
1 Dinner tonight is fish cakes, I’ve made a mint, chive, and bit of everything salad to go with brown rice and pine nuts.
2 We loaded my car for a tip run, and we have far too much for one trip really, and I challenged myself to put together a bin bag load of clothes for the collection which duly done, much needed space created. Somehow, we fitted it all in the Tardis.
3 Reading and loving this book, so nice to read a fiction book again.
4 Enjoying the birds enjoying the bird bath, and a tawny owl has been serenading for the past few nights now.
5 Fuse is being very cuddly, both a pleasure and a worry 😊

Good morning. iPad had no power last night and I’d left charger downstairs!Anyway the will I / won’t I saga continues. Was up early then out in garden when phone rang and it was solicitor. My head is just frazzled.
Quick chat to sister. We were going to caravan anyway but by the time I got there any oomph for painting had disappeared and I just did nothing instead. Think my brain needed a bit of nothing to process what’s /whats not happening.Anyway we had a lovely walk when we got there and it was dry and bright and then we had a lovely walk just before leaving in the not so dry or bright! Blooming rain!Home via supermarket. Picked up a RTC curry for my tea.Got home and it hadn’t been raining, I thought right I’ll cut the grass. The rain said ….stop, don’t be so hasty! But it was just a tiny shower so went out an hour later and cut the grass. First time in about 3 weeks so it was hard going! And then it rained again…you know…to make the grass grow!Friend called.
Picked some sweet peas. Getting to the end of season with them but they’re still flowering. And admired the verbena. And went to bed thinking tomorrow is another day…so let’s see what it brings.Have a good day ☺️7 -
Not sure what happened to my last post, seems to have disappeared 🤔
For yesterday,
Sleep is still bad so my first job when I get downstairs is to make a pot of coffee, it’s the only coffee I have all day and is much savoured.Big old pigeon sitting in the water feature with such a look of contentment on its face, made me smile.
The beautiful grey one was very sleepy when I got there and really just wanted a groom and cuddles, so that’s what she got.
Driving home and noticed that all of a sudden a lot of the horse chestnut trees are turning brown but it was a perfect late summer’s day, 22 degrees with a gentle breeze, one to be savoured.
The smell of mushrooms frying in butter, we had then with ribs & rice for tea.7 -
Me again.Awake through night. Think too much swirling in my head!
There was a glimpse of sunshine first thing and it actually stayed dry all day.
Picked up parcel and went to caravan.Had a lovely walk when we got there. I park at the main carpark and we walk down a driveway which is an avenue of trees all changing colour. Lots of different fungi growing. Quite fascinating. And look out over to the fields of crops that I would have thought would be harvested by now. But I love the colours.Started painting in the wee bedroom today. Need to get a small brush to finish off/ neaten up in the other areas I’ve done.
And got 2 calls for work! Yay! It’s always a bit nail biting when you have a week of nothing. These are both for the same week which will be the first time I’ve done that. Phone reception is a bit rubbish so followed up properly when I got home.
Nice drive back. And then…drumroll…call from solicitor. Finally something is happening. We hope. We are keeping fingers and toes crossed. Honestly this week has been a blooming roller coaster ( I don’t like roller coasters)
And I’m taking myself to bed early… perhaps to sleep but hopefully to rest.8 -
Mhags, here's hoping for you.
1 Getting the van ready for a weekend away, I’m really looking forward to this one as the tickets include the event, gardens, and museum. For the caravan today we removed the small rollout blind, off and cleaned up and put back on again
2 Dinner was a chop, and greens with gravy.
3 Watching the long tailed “drumsticks” group.
4 The thick duvet out to the van, I’m glad its out of the way of the spare room.
5 I’m looking around for another weekend away in Oct.

Pleasures for today (Friday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Went to the coffee morning. I took some strawberry plants and lemon thyme that I had split/potted up runners for people. I also had a look at the 1960s stage set on of the people had built.
3) Crab salad for lunch, chicken tikka for tea.
4) The cat is more alert now and has started licking the jelly off cat food, rather than eating absolutely nothing.
5) Our football team played away but lost 0-2.
6) I went to do a bat survey in Birmingham with my brother. Saw a few bats and a shooting star.
7) Made 2 lemon drizzle cakes, one for smaller son and my brother and one for my brother's friend whose partner died earlier this week.
8) Someone on FB wants my old shed and will come and dismantle it on Tuesday.6 -
Good morning
Purple Kitten - enjoy your trip. Sounds as if you've lots to look forward to.
Mhagster - fingers crossed and breath held x
Ampersand - hope all is well and that you're not posting because you're your usual busy self, hampered by useless connectivity. Or just that I've missed a post!
Another lovely day. It's been good lately.I
So good that the farmer decided to harrow his field on a sunny blowy day when I had washing out and patio door open! I do love living next to a field ( grew up in inner city Leeds) and know he has a job to do but.... Ah well, washing rewashed, lounge dusted and vacuumed , ornaments washed, garden furniture hosed down, car washed. Tbh some of those things needed doing anyway!
Cut down some eucalyptus to take to DD today to add to her fresh/ faux flower arrangements ( had to wash the dust off it first😂). Fingers crossed the weather manages to behave next Friday so we can be outside.
DH doing well at sticking to his diet which has helped me lose a couple of pounds too. Every little helps.
Happy Saturday everyone
