Good to hear that the animals of the parish are eating better.
For yesterday,
Capt S set off early to meet up with youngest DSS before heading to Newcastle for the footie, I took a cup of lemon tea back to bed and read the September chapter of my Almanac.
Met a friend for coffee and a catch up, her partner was also out for the day so perfect.
Home and listened to the Archers omnibus.
I was intending to spend the afternoon working in the garden but it got very hot at 28c so sat in the shade and read my book.
Easy tea of ham & salad, watched a couple of old episodes of Wycliffe but was asleep when beloved came home.6 -
Glad poorly pets are improving
Pleasures for the weekend
1. resting foot and watching paralympics.
2. did some ironing - this is rarely a pleasure but just glad i could
3. DD came for a bbq - that we ate inside as the weather was not conducive. Probably the last one for this year
4. OH went on his hols yesterday and arrived safely.
5. I went to the pictures
6. DS cooked my dinner - first time ever!I wanna be in the room where it happens6 -
Pleasures for today (Monday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Lost 2 lbs this week.
3) Went to the town of my birth (it's too boring to be famous for anything else at all!) and looked in vain for the free newspaper in Waitrose. They didn't print one this week, perhaps because of the bank holiday.
4) Went to the library which is now unstaffed. Borrowed some piano sheet music.
5) Did all the charity shops and bought a Next t shirt for me.
6) Man texted me about my shed and it sounds like he will definitely come for it tomorrow morning.
7) Hummus and salad for lunch and Spanish chicken for tea. I made smaller son a shepherds pie.
8) Sorted 2 drawers and lots of paperwork.
9) Changed my bed and did a load of washing. I'm not sure it will dry quickly outside at the moment!
10) Read some of Sarah Millican's autobiography, played the piano, played chess online.
11) Will watch the Last Leg later.6 -

3) read some more of A tomb with a view - apparently I am a taphophiles
4) not so lucky with the buses going home - like walking through a thick cloud - got a tad wet

Early schmearly
Cleaned oven/ stove top
Went to caravan holy moly at the rain. Just incessant pouring.
Took down 2 chairs and 4 table legs. Did some painting.
Drive back there was so much water on the road.
Friend popped in.
Did work stuff this afternoon.
Had a toastie for tea.7 -
For yesterday,
Met my friend at the nursery garden in village and we spent a lovely couple of hours wandering around, looking at and choosing plants, my haul included two aquatic specimens which are intended for the water feature, they are designed for small ponds so hopefully will be ok.
Went to the cafe, I had a cheese scone and there wasn’t a chive in sight Mhags.
Home, fed small dog and got changed before heading over to the stables. My big girl was loose schooled before being turned out, leant against her big old side and cloud watched for a bit.
Back to the cottage and I was intending to get some of the plants in but it started to drizzle with rain & I’m very much a fair weather gardener so had a nap instead!
Easy tea of salmon burgers with SF veg, we watched the new series of Grace ( love John Simm ) with a break midway to test our brains with UC.5 -
DD ohhh I've read that one.
1 Apparently, my de cluttering is inspiring DH to think about it, there’s space in the bathroom units now, stuff that was purchased but dreadful binned, things split to home and caravan. I’m rather pleased. I still have my clothes to do which is slow steady progress, which will be re-started Thurs.
2 Homemade lasagne with greens, and using the water from the greens to make a small gravy to make them a bit tastier.
3 Another pull out awning on the van all cleaned up, and somewhere all about we have 2 big awnings we need to open and put up, to take photo’s and put them up for sale, hoping to sell them fast if they are okay to Fuses fund.
4 I thought I’ll just hoover and clean the bathroom, and then I thought I’ll change our bedding and wash the floors, if I’m doing up I may as well do down or it will track, oh I know I’ll mow as well, it’s all done. Free’s up some time.
5 The energy usage is okay, but that’s because the heating is off, and we aren’t using the tumble dryer.

Early schmearly.
Was dry so did a washing and hung it out.Filled car with a very heavy table top and one chair ( there’s one chair left to go) squeezed a dog in and off we went…of course it started raining as we got there but we had a nice walk .
Manhandled table top in …two people moaned that it was heavy two weeks ago! Fits perfectly and looks like it should be there…much more me than the original.
Rainy walk and drive home. But dry ish when I got back.
Out to hairdressers. Then out for tea…with nice hair! Then an impromptu drive to the city to keep friend company. Holy moly at city driving. I just couldn’t now.Home and DD2 having a sleepover. So it’s odd having someone else in the house! And no word from solicitors. Sigh.7 -
Pleasures for today (Tuesday)
1) A good sleep though woke up rather early. Didn't get up, obviously!
2) Cat had eaten everything so had 2 tins of tuna today and is now having cat food, just bought.
3) Waited for the shed man who changed his time from 11 to 12 to 2.30. Whilst waiting I pottered around, read, played chess, loaded the dishwasher and cooked a courgette omelette.
4) Also phoned the dentist re smaller son's tooth (a bit fell off) and have an appointment for the 19th.
5) The shed man came with another very practical man. They took it away without a problem but (could only happen in this house) the patio had been constructed around the shed so once it had gone there is nothing holding up that part of the patio. I'll have to put some slabs in vertically and build it up again.
6) Swept and cleared the slabs that were formerly under the shed. The new cleared place is level with the lawn and under a holly tree so the only place that gets shade during the day. Put a chair and table out and the Christmas lights!
7) Went to the football - a draw today. Smaller son said he would go to the toilet and it was the first time in 21 years where I haven't had to loiter outside the gents waiting for him - he went by himself! I was miles away on the terraces and of course then he didn't come back for ages. Then he reappeared and he had not only been to the toilet but BOUGHT A BOTTLE OF WATER FROM THE CAFE !!!!!! I played it cool and pretended that was entirely normal.5 -
👍Frith
For yesterday,
Woke up hungry so enjoyed scrambled egg on toast for breakfast.
Lots of slow, steady rain which was good for the garden but scuppered my plans so inside jobs done. These included taking apart some of our pictures that had several of those tiny black flies trapped behind the glass, also changed the mantle decorations over to an autumn theme.
Over to see the beautiful grey one, warm in the afternoon sun so just a little meander around the farm before turning her out.
Made a batch of ratatouille with HG toms & courgettes, no aubergines but I’m not massively keen anyway and we had some of that with couscous and chicken kebabs.
A blackbird singing into the twilight, the bird song is gradually coming back to the garden.
