Pleasures for yesterday and today.
(Sunday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Picked MrM up at 10 and he had a barbecue in the garden here.
3) Food was good and I made 2 salads. My brother came for the barbecue and seemed to get on OK with MrM.
4) I took more fitted wardrobe parts to the tip.
5) Smaller son and I watched the England v Serbia match and ate rice pudding.
The bad bit of yesterday is my brother decided he wanted to take smaller son to watch the cricket after we had had lunch. Smaller son refused to go. This is not unexpected. So my brother had a go at me, walked out, slammed the door then did not come to watch the England match with us as planned.
I don't know why this upset me so much (it's still making me sad typing about it now!) MrM thought he had done something wrong then I "got something in my eye" and it was all very embarrassing. MrM texted today (he has gone away) to say he has no phone data left which is probably true but now I'm stressed enough to think, "how convenient..."
(Monday)
1) Not the worst sleep, considering.
2) Took the final fitted wardrobe part to the tip.
3) Had my haircut.
4) Went to Ikea and bought a picture frame for the moving in present painting that has been on the floor for 10 months! A man chatted me up at great length in the queue. This is unheard of.
5) Went to Sainsburys with smaller son and he chose posh burgers to have for our dinner (haven't cooked them yet).
6) Put the picture up!
7) Have/will watch some football.6 -
For yesterday,
Warm sunshine and lots of it, makes such a difference.
Into horsey town for a food shop, my friend is on holiday so no meet in emporium cafe but I did make use of the free coffee from loyalty card.
Dug out a new bed in the front garden, it’s just a small one for alpines as it can be quite shady but repurposed a couple of rocks from other parts of the garden. Glanced over at small dog and she was fast asleep in the grass bless her.
Spent the afternoon with my other girl, bit of work in the school then went for a walk around the farm with my friend & her mare. The owner has cut canter tracks around the hay fields for us all to use.
Easy tea of stir fry beef with veg & rice. Cut up the joint, enough meat for four more meals sorted and in the freezer.6 -
Hello. It’s the most beautiful evening.Atrocious sleep with horrible heart burn waking me up.Up early , did doggy stuff then back to bed.
Into town mid morning.Sister called this afternoon.
sold an item on Vinted so walked up to shop. By which time I was boiled as the sun had came out and I’d a sweatshirt on!Tuesday Tea…when there’s three of you and only two plates 😆 I used a takeaway tub! Did the job! And gave them the metal cutlery too! Hostess with the mostess! We had pizza and wedges and coleslaw. And a birthday doughnut for the soon to be birthday girl…candles are of course packed in a box in a container so I had a wee battery operated tea light that did the same job 😆🥳
Chatter and laughter!Beautiful blue sky!7 -
Pleasures for today (Tuesday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Invigilation this morning went OK.
3) Onto floody city afterwards and had lunch at the Colombian cafe.
4) Back home and I painted over the bits of the living room where I had accidentally put some gloss! Also moved the TV so it can have the aerial plugged in again. We use internet TV but it is about 1 minute behind normal TV and our phones keep telling us England have scored before we can see it on screen!
5) Helped smaller son clean his bedroom and move all his furniture round so it makes more sense.
6) Helped my brother at a bat survey, complete with my own detector.
7) Let down once again by MrM so we have parted company. It will be better in the long run.5 -
Sorry to hear that Frith
For yesterday
Chores first thing, dropped off two bags at the Scope CS and dropped into big food store for the brand of lemon tea that I like.
Two phone calls out of the way, one to cancel breakdown cover which had been hiked up and had found cheaper, second was to cancel small dog’s insurance. It was due for renewal and they had excluded both of the conditions that she needs medication for but still wanted £110 a month!Capt S came home for lunch and we had a catch up.
Warm in the afternoon sunshine, my beautiful horse got a pamper then applied sunscreen to her pink nose and liberally sprayed her with fly deterrent before turning out.
Had made a fruit jelly earlier, it was BBE May 23 and hadn’t completely set but was tasty treat after tea.6 -
Hello all - i been on me olidis...
Have read nothing for weeks, except this page so sorry not to comment individually.
Frith - sorry to hear of the ongoing mrM shenanigins.
Pleasures recently
1. Wonderful Namibia - beautiful country, wonderful people, great food, (mostly) good weather, fabulous sunsets - and rises, good wildlife - land, sea and air.
2. A ride in a hot air balloon - sublime. Expensive (so expensive) but worth it for a 'once in a lifetime' experience.
3. DS started his apprentice train driver's course
4. An afternoon out yesterday with OH at a local NT house
5. I only put on 3lbs and that is now off
I wanna be in the room where it happens5 -
Up early. It’s been a lovely day.
Pup dropped off with a shout up the stairs of you’ve had something dropped off at your doorstep. Intriguing! A gift and card from a friend.
Into town.Home.And lazy /relaxed ( call it what you will) afternoon.
Chicken Kyiv and corn on the cob for tea.Pup just getting collected.5 -
Pleasures for today (Wednesday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Had porridge for breakfast.
3) Walked into town. It was quite hot. Had a cup of tea in M and S.
4) Went round all the charity shops and bought a watercolour by a local artist. I had to carry it 2 miles back home!
5) I sanded the bit of filler where I had removed some defunct trunking over the kitchen door. Painted it twice over the course of the afternoon.
6) While I had that pot of paint out, I also painted the few places where I had gone a bit wide with the gloss and also scuff marks on the wall next to the stairs.
7) Cleaned the living room window frame. I think there must have been a fire in the kitchen here years ago, because sometimes you can move something or take out a cupboard etc and there is definitely black sooty grease hiding. In the end I had to use nail varnish remover on the window frame!
8) Got some hm shepherds pie plus Christmas leftover red cabbage from the freezer for our tea.
9) Watching the Scotland v Switzerland match now.5 -
Brief stop in Town of Horse main street=some connectivity.👏
1. Yesterday's hospital transport set by them for 0745h did not arrive. Waited until 0820h then drove to Birmingham ROH. Just made it for 1130h MRI, then 1410h oncology+late extra other. BROH staff are wonderful, with &'s MDT, led by marvellous young surgeon, M.P.
2. 20p reverbe - every little helps.🙂
3. No metastasis detected, despite aggressive recurrence stats for leiomyosarcomas, even post-removal.
4. Kindness of & son.
5. Birmingham was freezing and heavy overcast grey, completely unexpected, so was glad of thermos+munch. A long day eventually done, with last night's hwb extra welcome.

1-5 Our NHS, back to a&e Monday, for asthma dangerously low after a hellish weekend, I was literally whisked in with a cannula before I nigh on blinked. They were able to bring it back up to the point I’m back at home and resting as it’s an infection causing the problem.
6 Glad I have a freezer drawer of easy rtc ready meals we are working through, I have to say dished up they are passable.
7 DH had to tackle the shop along his least favourite thing to do and he ignored the fresh veg and fruit, but he bought me a couple of plant troughs.
8 DH did a lot of gardening, and it all looks a lot better for it.
