Good morning. It's cold!
We're back after a lovely 10 days visiting our friends who live in Spain. Where it's warm! And sunny! And even warm in an evening! And wine is cheap! ( they were complaining that it's now €1.20 per bottle). Not quite sure why we came back 😂
We had a great time doing very little, chatting, laughing, catching up (DH and his friend met in Infant school - 70 years ago) Maybe drinking some wine. It was just what we needed.
Not read all back yet ( WiFi was a bit iffy but I didn't care!) But I see Suffolk Sue is back and has had the op. Hooray Sue. I'm so pleased
Happy cold day everyone7 -
Warm weather sounds very appealing at the moment HappyCas!
For yesterday,
Out early as the beautiful grey one had the physio coming, no problems just a good deep massage and he commented how strong her back muscles were getting, it’s all the groundwork we’ve been doing.
Chat in the kitchen over a cuppa with him and others.
Home, lunch then out again to get some petrol, as Amps said it was now wet & squally and that’s the way it stayed well into the evening.
Capt S finished for the day and given the above we opted for an afternoon on the sofa watching a film, The Great Escaper with Sir Michael Caine and Glenda Jackson, wonderful true story about a DDay veteran that goes missing from his care home with a trip to France to commemorate the 70th anniversary, very poignant.
Greek pie for tea then settled down to watch the Scotland match but a dream start against the hosts wasn’t to be, onwards.5 -
Pleasures for yesterday (Friday)
1) Chess club in the morning with MrM.
2) Did the third and final coats of paint in my room where the fitted wardrobe was.
3) Washed the rollers and brushes. There are still edges and bits to do in the other rooms but the worst is over!
4) Popped to Sainsbury's.
5) Went to MrM's in the evening and watched the Scotland match. One of my granddad's was Scottish so I kept getting sad texts from my brother!
6) Smaller son has agreed to sort his room out (moving the furniture and a good clean) so hopefully we will do that later today and I'll get chance to do the bit of painting I missed behind/round his radiator!5 -
Hello. Been feeling a bit under the weather today so have been very quiet! Snoozy I’d think you’d call it!For Friday. Up early and a drizzly cold walk first thing.I had work in the afternoon. Which went very well. And just the loveliest of people that I met. It was raining then stopped and then the sun peeked through.
Got an eventual call from estate agent saying my house had been re-offered on so I was able to put my sold sign back up. I could wait for someone next week or do it myself. I think until I’m actually in new house then it won’t seem real. Don’t know anything about dates yet. Just relieved but still wary. And sun stayed out after it made it’s peekaboo appearance.Today it’s been showery though dry enough in afternoon to get washing dried. Just brought it in. Rain is forecast anytime now. Just been watching stuff…I restarted Greys Anatomy a few weeks ago so I’m working my way through that. It’s how I almost got my medical degree during lockdown.Chat with DD2 on phone.Had oatcakes and cheese as a late lunch. It was like a lightbulb moment…I’d remembered I’d bought them for my trip away and hadn’t eaten them!6 -
Pleasures for today (Saturday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Felt very grumpy first thing so drove to Floody City and had a cup of tea and did the crossword in the free paper in Waitrose.
3) Came home and had a massive tidy up before my parents visit in the afternoon. Even cleaned the outside toilet!
4) Second load of washing is on.
5) My parents and brother visited at 4. We had tea and iced buns and my brother replaced a socket in my room (he had to find a 60 year old socket to fit). He also kicked the fitted wardrobe pieces to bits so I can get them in my car next week to go to the tip.
6) I borrowed a barbecue from bigger son to use tomorrow. It only just fit in the back of my car. I gave bigger son a t shirt I got for him from a charity shop the other day.
7) I phoned my school friend.
8) Watched bits of 2 football matches in the Euros.5 -
Great news, mhagster, everything crossed that it all goes through smoothly.
Recent pleasures:
1) The infection from my bite came back with a vengeance, think this is week 3 and back on double antibiotics and antibiotic cream so feeling pretty rough again. Not much pleasure in any of it but there might be if the antibiotics work!
2) Lovely to see the Princess of Wales out and about after so long, hope it hasn't tired her too much.
3) Sorry, everyone, but the cold weather is suiting me at the moment, don't feel I could cope with hot sunny weather at the mo, but do agree this is no summer.
4) Grandsons,,,, all 3 a total delight. Grandson 1 has a (very pretty) girlfriend - awww! Grandson 2 has finished his GCSEs and is pretty sure he's on target to go to the college of his choice and is now looking for a holiday job. Grandson 3 had a great school trip and his first night away from family went without a hitch.
5) My blissful bed. Trying to be up during the day as much as I can but, oh, the joys of sinking into my bed! Off back there as soon as I finish here.
Hope you are enjoying the weekend despite the weather.

Beautiful sunset here in Lesvos last night.
Enjoying the last few days of our holiday. Weather was a much more pleasant 27 yesterday but back up to the 30s tomorrow.
More lazy beach days, swimming in the sea, floating on my tyre, great food and wine 🍷. We’ve had an evening swim, a live music night with a great rendition of Summer Wine, a favourite of mine. Tonight we are off to a restaurant by the sea with new friends to see another sunset 😊. OH fell over on the balcony this morning, but seems okay 🤞
Best wishes and healthy vibes to all 😊5 -
Will be keeping everything crossed for the sale Mhags
Looks beautiful PaulieH but yikes to balcony fall 🫣
For yesterday,
Sunny if cold start to the day so we had an early trip to farm shop, first to the cafe for snorker baps and coffee followed by a few bits from their meat counter.
The rain soon came over so made a loaf, changed the bed and generally tidied up.Over to see the beautiful grey one, did a bit of work in the round pen and then out she went to her field. There is a particular patch of long grass that she’s been eyeing up over the last few days so I let her have five minutes on that. My lovely friend had brought me some HM brownies as a thank you for doing her mare’s medication for a few days so enjoyed one of those over a cup of tea and a catch up.
I’ve of a mind to send a tongue-in-cheek thank you text to horrible, toxic owner of our old yard to say thank you for giving us notice as it’s been the best thing that could have happened, we are both MUCH happier here! Perhaps it’s best to leave that particular sleeping dog to lie but sooo tempting……
Anyways, home and Capt S had managed to cut the grass between showers so walking through the gate it was such a lovely smell between that and the honeysuckle.
The treat of steak and chips for tea, followed by football & cricket to watch.6 -
Up and out early. Missed the rain.In before the heavy rain!!Went to supermarket. Treated myself to a new bag of frozen sprouts! Chattered to someone I know. Was raining heavily.
Home…I’ll tidy my office said I …so I took everything out…it’s still out! It’s now a tomorrow job! ( it’s three drawers worth of stuff…hardly loads)
Dropped off borrowed from a friend vases. Had wanted to have flowers when I was up for sale. However I still have a vase from DD2 and a loo brush holder! Was lightly raining.Sold a parcel on Vinted ( put on whilst I was emptying office drawers.) it sold in 20 minutes so I walked up to shop to send it and walked back via mums. Her NDN had seen me coming so ended up there chatting for an hour. Was mediumly raining!
Had steak pie, new potatoes, peas, sweetcorn and sprouts for tea.Chat to friend.6 -
For yesterday,
A sunny day and, once the wind had died down, it was pleasantly warm, long may it last!
We watched the Aus/Sco cricket highlights at breakfast, so close.
The rest of the morning was spent in the garden, thinned out the little gem lettuces and weeded the veg planters. The strawberries had all turned to mush with the recent heavy rain so cleared all that out and hopefully we will get a second crop. One of my potted thyme plants hadn’t survived the wet winter so cleared that out and will be on the look out for a replacement.
Calls and a parcel from DSS’s for Capt S, I did roast beef and all the trimmings for lunch as that’s one of his favourites
Rest of the day was very lazy with just a gentle meander around the field to break up reading in the garden or watching sport.5
