Sending lots of well wishes to our Amps & PK
For yesterday, Midsummer Eve
Sloggus domesticus for most of the morning, as always the pleasure is only when it’s done.
After exertions made a big bowl of feta salad for lunch with pickings from the garden.
Cosmos and nepeta made a pretty vase for the dining room table.
The beautiful grey one had to have a bath after falling asleep in her own poo 🙈 then helped my pal by filming her working her pony over poles & jumps.
Enjoyed the Scotland game, the tartan army definitely win the prize for the best fans, then we had an early night ahead of plans to get up to celebrate the solstice. Watch this space to see if we made it!

Good news, Ampersand.
Pleasures for today (Thursday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Painting my filling that I sanded down yesterday then painted the strip of ceiling above it. 2nd coat done a few hours later.
3) Cleaned my window frame/reveal then painted the reveal in white with a 2nd coat in the afternoon.
4) Mowed the top lawn.
5) Popped to Sainsburys.
6) My friend texted for help with his English homework!
7) Watched the England v Denmark match but it was unexciting.6 -
Hello. Was having a quiet day when I got a work call at lunchtime. So went out late afternoon to meet new family.
They lived near a friend so I popped in on the way back and sat and chattered in the garden. Gave her some crochet blankets and got a garden ornament I’d given her in 2010 back! We couldn’t take it to Australia. I’d got it as a gift for my 30th birthday so it’s actually nice to have her back and I’ll find a nice place in my new garden. This swap was arranged weeks ago and just hadn’t happened!
Cleaned more kitchen cupboards and sliced a chunk of thumb in the doing so!
Mostly dry and the usual brightening up at 4pm6 -
For yesterday, Midsummer Day
Yes, we did make it up in time to witness the rising sun for the Solstice but that was mainly down to small dog’s bladder requirements! We all went back to bed for an hour or so afterwards. We didn’t, however, check the cricket score and in hindsight perhaps we should have stayed up to watch.
Into horsey town for a quick food shop and picked up a few bargains for the freezer. Did a quick check of last years figures and in comparison we are spending nearly £100 per month more on food this year, scary stuff.
Spent the afternoon in the sunshine with my beautiful horse, bit of work followed by cool wash down - her, not me…..although 🤔 and grazed her in-hand on the long grass, leaning into her strong side and daydreaming.
Will never learn, every football tournament the hope rises and then reality bites, will just leave it there.
Only downside of drier weather is the need for more watering but nice task on a summer’s evening.

Morning all 😊
Think we brought the sunshine ☀️ home with us from our lovely holiday to Lesvos as it is sunny again today.
6 loads of washing done since we got home Wednesday p.m., mostly put away some dresses and shirts to iron☹️. Just starting on son’s very smelly washing which he kindly dumps here even though he doesn’t actually live here!Garden mostly survived and my beautiful lillies in pots are blooming but the veg patch looks quite sorry for itself. Pots all need sorting, dead heading etc.
Shopping to do, trying to do healthy eating after holidays ☹️. Will watch some tennis today, good job our 2 Brits did well yesterday what with the dire performance of our football ⚽️ team.
have a lovely Friday 😊6 -
Cutting a long story short, bought a used car a fortnight ago, needed to go back to dealer on Tuesday ‘for an hour’. Parts weren’t delivered, so Discovery Sport as a courtesy car - very nice. Should have been ready yesterday, but no, definitely today. Explained was having eye test today, drops would prevent me driving, no problem, Saturday would be fine. Courtesy car however would be needed back as booked out previously. So in its place I’ve been delivered a 73 plate Defender mild hybrid, an absolute beauty. Sadly just sitting outside today, but rest assured we’ll take the long route back to collect ours tomorrow.4

Pleasures for today (Friday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Porridge for breakfast.
3) Went to the coffee morning at our local theatre and had a game of chess. Asked people there if they would like to pop round next week for my birthday and they seemed quite enthusiastic. I have had birthday and other parties for my sons but have never held any sort of party for adults in my whole life!
4) Went to Waitrose afterwards in the town that is so boring that I cannot think of an epithet for it. The town of my birth! Did the prize crossword over a cup of tea in the cafe.
5) Spent HOURS in the afternoon sorting out the window frames. The people who lived here before must have loved lace curtains (I cannot stand them). The brackets that held up the rods (or wires) had been glued to the window frames so I have spent a long time over several days standing on a step ladder scraping all the sticky stuff off with a teaspoon handle and lots of nail varnish remover. Today I had another try at the 3 patches in the living room plus the landing window and the bathroom.
6) Cut the front lawn and trimmed the shrub by the road.
7) Found the missing tin of kitchen paint and did the edges where I had glossed too clumsily and touched up any other knocks.
8) Did chicken and salad plus guacamole in flatbreads for tea. Just made flapjacks.
9) Have been watching various bits of the Euros whilst working.5 -
For yesterday,
Over to the stables early as had lunch date, girlie had brushed against the creosote on the fencing and had several lovely dark smears on her coat 🙈 a mixture of sunflower oil and washing up liquid brushed in & then washed off did the trick, good tip from another owner.
Lunch out with my bf, several weeks since we’d been together in person so much chatter & laughter.
Home in time to watch the cricket, close game but we need to beat the States now.
Easy tea of pork kebabs with sweet potato wedges.
Blackbird singing into the twilight.6 -
Morning all.
Not been here for a while so a bit of cathing up to do, hope everyone is well.
Recent pleasures:
1) Lovely sunny weather, nice to be outside until late evening. Had curry night with my bairn and partner last night, mostly outside - finally felt like summer.
2) Finished all my meds so feeling much more like me again if still a bit waffy and easily tired. Interestingly - but not nice for them - but I have heard of two other people locally who have also been bitten and on strong antibiotics, one in hospital on a drip. Strange ...
3) Away for a night tomorrow, quite locally, but meeting up with brother and his wife to visit a stately home and a castle with dinner and a hotel stay in the middle. Looking forward to a good catch up and they won't mind that I look and feel a bit droopy still.
4) Done some lovely reading, revisited some old favourites, very undemanding and gentle, just right.
5) Starting to think that a break away would be good. Life here does feel like a permanent holiday but a change of scenery would be nice. Thinking a self catering cottage rather than a hotel so we can take things at our own pace and thinking Suffolk as we've never been. We are NT, HH and EH members so hopefully there are some nice places to visit. If anyone has any particular recommendations would love to hear them.
Right, coffee and the garden bench beckon. Enjoy your weekend.
