Well do you know I had almost the same tea as I did on the 31st May 2017 😀
I’m typing this on my phone and I had the old thread ( part 2 ) open as I’d been looking for something! Anyway I had the other half of the RTC steak pie with sprouts peas and sweetcorn tonight. Then I’d made the steak pie and had broccoli too…I now don’t like broccoli much so have stopped buying it!Random 🤣
Anyway up very early and out walking at 4.30am . Beautiful sky as we walked. Just us and the birds.Started to rain once I was home. Had a work event this morning. And home! It got all rather muggy and clammy. But turned out nice late afternoon ( as it does)
Ironed my linen tops.Did a bit of weeding! Pfft at all the weeds and ooft at the heat!Email update from solicitor. Not really any further forward! Still don’t have a date!Started a new book I’d picked up on charity shelf at supermarket.8 -
Pleasures for today (Monday)
1) Not a bad sleep though I kept waking up thinking, "I must go downstairs and get the fan". Then I would go back to sleep but wake again and still not get it!
2) Left over bagels and guacamole for breakfast.
3) Took the shrub trimmings to the tip. One man at the top of the ladder (accessing the skip) suddenly stopped and explained to me how bad his hayfever is. Mine is appalling every year and I always forget during the winter.
4) Went to B and Q for some mould killer spray for the shower and also got some cut price lily and marigold plants.
5) Sainsburys for a big shop for my party tomorrow.
6) Talked to my neighbour when I got home.
7) Planted the new plants, tidied up outside a bit, watered the new plants put in recently. Picked the blackcurrants.
8) Tightened up the badminton net.
9) Put the outside lights in a different tree where they are more obvious.
10) Made leek and macaroni cheese for tea followed by Eton Mess.
11) Kept cleaning and bringing in any chair capable of being sat upon.
12) Shortbread in the oven but it wasn't a good mix. Too crumbly, despite using same recipe as always.
13) Someone else has just replied to my party invited.
14) Watching Spain versus Albania match. Every Albanian player looks like bigger son!6 -
Did this clutch 2 days ago, but it didn't post - no change there.1.'Iolanthe'. For first time, local-ish annual G&S wasn't in The Barn(asbestos!) No room for previous ad hoc orchestra, so score re-worked for 4 musicians by extraordinary young musical director/conductor, Cleo Loi. She is a phenomenally gifted musician and modest young woman - also played violin, keyboard, percussion, 2 recorders and clarinet, while 'conducting' the other 3. Spoke with her afterwards, re: her joining last year at last minute, when group lost its pianist.2.Early am cricket, Afghanistan beat Strylia for the first time. V.glad for Jonathan Trott too, now Afghanistan's coach, remembering his difficulties.3.2 good hours' farm walking prior to osp1.4.First ½ of yummy omelette, with rtc endive. 2nd half for today after HC, then small fête and more walking.5.Finished new2& Montalbano, 'Game of Mirrors'. Love Andrea Camilleri's Montalbano writing and follow-up notes. First known to & via French tv on Canal+, when staying with oldest Northern hemisphere friend.#Bizarre explanation given to surgery re: Tuesday's hospital transport failure. '0745h departure means any time within 2 hours of that time, so the driver's click time of 9.29 means he was 16 minutes early. Hospital transport is now outsourced, so drivers can come from a distance.'🫣😬😠It took & over 3 hours to reach BROH. Surgery had not been told and agreed & would have been too late for her MRI appointment.#
Reading all for you pk, high days and happy cas🙏👌🫶 variously.
Party time Frith and work time Mhags - all good.

Since, random clutter of osps and not osps, but:
1. Terrific Sunday address on 'being a true leader', with UK election unsaid😁, in best way.
2. Then the fête, more best of rural enjoyment, stalls, some classic cars, pleasures, great band, good will all round and everyone, a couple of thousand ultimately! all really enjoying themselves, newest tinies to a couple of centenarians. & had few £s left for weekend, but managed F's bric à brac stall happily. Joy of joys - a handmade paua necklace, explained to F, box of studio pottery, unbelievably Heber Matthews! and several books for others.
3. Meeting and chatting with many, then about to leave when announcement of 'car keys found, with a boot attached. Come and see us if they're yours', heard just as & was reaching for hers and thinking 'Identical to mine!'....
Dear reader, you know the happy ending.🧐
4. Thence to 2nd day and closing chukkas of polo, always wonderful to see.
5. Osps 3 and 4 interspersed with several miles' walking, farmland, curtilage, watery edges etc and at one point, joined by fine Burmese cat, half a mile through tall rye! Then on last stretch back to Doblo, as pics(will eventually)show:CAP[UK]for FREE EXPERT DEBT &BUDGET HELP:

For yesterday,
As our Mhags would say oooft, twas a hot one but the never-ending pleasure of washing dried on the line.
Trip into horsey town for a food shop and coffee with a friend, she complimented me on my green linen dress and I was happy to tell her that it was a CS bargain, she is rather particular about her clothes so a double pleasure.
Capt S home for lunch so we enjoyed an avocado & cottage cheese flatbread.
With my horse, too hot for any work by then but a cooling bath with lavender soap which hopefully 🙏 will help to keep the flies away.
Lots of sport, first the cricket and the India machine marches on, theres to lose I feel and then we watched the Croatia / Italy match, can be a cruel game at times.6 -
Up early schmearly
Met niece at big garden centre. Had a very nice cheese scone and had a nice catch up…last child free for the foreseeable as school holidays start on Friday.Stopped at supermarket on way home. Got some RTC ‘finest’ chips for Tuesday Tea.
Hello doggy and out into the garden we went. Bit of weeding and chopping back. All the rain last week has made everything grow like crazy. Picked a wee bunch of flowers and put in a jam jar!Chat to sister on phone.Had a doze …a very uncomfortable doze on the chair so I was all scrunched up!Tuesday tea was RTC chicken pie from the freezer ,RTC chips and frozen veggies! Friend got the plate…I got the takeaway tub!And 2 for 75p chocolate eclairs for pud! I love a chocolate eclair. And the best thing about hardly any dishes is…there’s hardly any dishes!Drizzly rain here but think I’ll still need to go and water garden tonight.6 -

Pleasures for today (Tuesday)
1) A broken sleep again, but at least I was organised and had the fan pointing at me overnight.
2) Spent the morning tidying up, getting chairs in the right places and pootling around.
3) Went to Sainsburys cafe for a pot of tea and the air conditioning.
4) Went home for more tidying, watching a bit of the France v Poland match then had a shower.
5) My birthday party! The first party I have held for myself ever. My parents did a few when I was at primary school but I never have. We had a few snacks and cakes, various sorts of lemonades and Schloers and tea and coffee. I tried to think who would suffer the most at a social gathering (apart from me) but those people seemed OK. The badminton net was up so a few people played against bigger son and his girlfriend. My chess partner fell into the fence so had to have first aid from my sister.
I was surprised so many people stayed outside as it was too hot for me on the patio.
The football went on at 8pm (England v Slovenia) and about 7 or 8 of us stayed in the living room to watch that.
6) Just had a clear up and put the dishwasher on. I think I would hold another get-together for the semi finals or finals.
7) Not in chronological order now but a friend phoned me this morning to re-write a talk he needs to give for his English exam.
8) I am now sitting down and eating a lot of chocolates.5 -
Not sure if it was your actual birthday Frith if so belated birthday wishes for yesterday and glad you enjoyed your party 🎉
For yesterday,
Broken nights sleep due to the heat but nice to get up and open all the windows to let the cooler air in.
Baby robins sitting on the top of the garden gate waiting for some food.
Over to see my horse before it got too hot again, the barn is relatively cool having such a high roof and she was asleep in her stable when I got there. With the warmer weather only just arrived she is shedding the last of her coat like mad so a deep groom followed by a cool bath. Gave my pal’s mare her medication and caught up with other owners.
Afternoon snooze for me and small dog.
I would like to say watching the football was a pleasure but wasn’t so 🙄 the blueberries and ice-cream at half time were good though!6 -
Morning all.
Very warm here again but, like yesterday, very dense cloud. Glad your party went well, Frith, and belated birthday wishes.
Some pleasures:
1) Back from a couple of days away with brother and sis-in-law to celebrate hubby's birthday. Glorious weather and we had a really fab time. Wondered how I'd cope as still not 100% but in the event we took it steady and I didn't hold them up at all. Feel SO much better for a couple of days away.
2) In spite of the heat I've slept like a log since we've been back.
3) Middle grandson had his Prom last night so popped in to show us his outfit - suit, shirt and tie and shiny posh shoes - before he went. Bless him, he's all grown up now and a lovely, good looking lad. Awww....granny tears were in my eyes, where have the years gone? The massive pleasure is that we have been able to play such a large part in their lives since they were tiny babies. Ooops, there I go again!!
4) A nice pottering day yesterday and a sit outside in the warm with my latest book and the crossword.
5) Booked a converted barn for our week in Suffolk and now looking at all the places to go and things to do and wondering how we will narrow them down to fit into a week while still allowing time to just 'be'. We love going away with my brothers and sister and partners but very much looking forward to a few days on our own which doesn't happen often.
Another pottering day today, we sure live life in the fast lane! Have a good one whatever you are up to.6 -
Pleasures for today (Wednesday)
1) Not a bad sleep, though extremely hot overnight and today.
2) Went to M and S for a cup of tea and was talking to the cafe lady about our mutual friend. We laughed so much the lady behind me in the queue (on her phone) kept saying, "I can't hear you! There is too much NOOOIIISE", really grumpily!
3) I need some mesh as muntjacs keep eating the leaves off my little apple tree. My sister is sorting some out for me.
4) I removed more wallpaper. It was pretty much done but there was a strip at the bottom of the hall radiator. Not the best day to choose to do it but it only took 30 minutes.
5) Bigger son came on his bike so I gave him the bottles of wine and tins from the party yesterday as he is having a barbecue later.
6) Spent HOURS on the phone. I got a new house insurance quote but it was impossible to stop the auto renew as you couldn't phone the company and their webchat thing wasn't working. In the end I had to get my bank to block it. Their quote was £330 but I went through Quidco and got it for £104 and will get £34 cashback.
7) Bought my football season ticket.
8) Made wedges for tea plus a pizza using the leftover chicken from yesterday plus some BBQ sauce.
9) Will watch the Turkey match with smaller son shortly.6
