Pleasures for yesterday (Wednesday)
I hate updating the next day, but needs must!
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Another 4 mile walk done.
3) Pot of tea in M and S.
4) My brother gave me some raspberry canes so I dug a new plot (well, extended the existing plot for raspberries along the fence line) and planted them.
5) Put my friend's bike in the car at about 3pm. Didn't realise that tying the boot shut meant a tiny, tiny boot light stayed on all day... Came to leave at 7.45 and the car battery was flat! Borrowed a charger from my neighbours. Of course, after 45 minutes there was a monsoon so I had to unplug everything. Amazingly, the car started!
6) Drove round for a bit to recharge the battery then went to see my friend. Woke up 1.15, drove home.6 -
Hello. Bedtime.Up early. Beautiful pastel sunrise. Was just going out to car as friend was passing so chatted to her for 15 minutes!Went to Lidl and then my local supermarket as I can’t get everything at Lidl. And home…as the heavens opened!Picked up some cakes from baker friend. Sun now shining.
Chat with niece on phone.Tidied up hall landing which was full of boxes!Made up a bed for great nephew. Waited on them arriving. Have visiting nephew, his wife and GN for Easter. Much chatter.DD2 arrived. Much more chatter.8 -
Pleasures for today (Thursday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Walked to M and S and back, through torrential rain.
3) I've walked 59 miles so far this month.
4) Went to Lidl.
5) Phoned my school friend.7 -
For yesterday,
Errands morning, bit of food shopping, then out to get petrol and finally to the garden centre for bird food and a small gift bag. I have quite a few in my card / wrapping stash but they are all on the larger size.
A pension pay out had arrived in bank account so time spent divvying that up between various pots, it related to a company that I worked at in my early 20’s so surprising how that compounded interest added up!An afternoon at home, read my book and watched an old episode of Poirot.
Dodged the spring showers and got small dog out for evening walk, cold though and was grateful for big coat.
Capt S home from a much dreaded meeting, relieved all done so celebratory glass of wine.7 -
Pleasures for today (Friday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Went to the National Trust Rock Houses to see a friend who volunteers there. After, walked to the top by the Iron Age fort. Remembered last time I visited was with 20 friends, most of whom have been moved on. Felt a bit bleak.
3) Had a pot of tea in M and S. Texted a few friends and one has been moved from fairly local to Manchester, which will suit him much better.
4) Football with smaller son. Absolutely torrential rain then hail. Our team lost 3-1.
5) Had a Chinese takeaway for tea.
6) Watching television now.7 -
Hello. Very late night for me, today has went on forever! It’s my birthday.
On the beach at 6.30am
In the hairdresser at 8am
Out for breakfast at 10am…disastrous meal…paid zero and given a £50 voucher as an apology! Lovely walk afterwards ( was at my favourite place so very disappointed)
Briefly home then went to local woods and had a lovely walk. I took my GNs (4&5) into the castle. Then back home.
I made the party food. We had veggie frittata, veggie pizza, potato wedges, salad, vegan lasagna ,hummus and cocktail sausages and sausage rolls for the meat eaters! Much of it was RTC . Then a RTC birthday cake and or RTC mini cupcakes, little chocolate tea cakes. Strawberries. Mini eggs.Plumber came at 5pm…could obviously see a houseful from outside, called me and said have you got folk in, I can come another time. Me no it’s fine please come in…I’m moving house and need it resolved ( fingers crossed it is) but he’ll be back on Monday for something else!Back downstairs to the melee! So much chatter and laughter. Lovely to have everyone round the table and probably the last get together before I move.
Chatter with nephew and his wife when everyone else left.A good day.8 -
Hope you had a happy birthday @mhagster, at least after the breakfast fiasco. Sounds like the meal with the family was a lot of fun.8

Belated birthday wishes dear Mhags 🎉🎂 x
For yesterday,
As per tradition we had hot x buns for breakfast along with lots of coffee.
Made a loaf and generally pottered around the house.
Over to see my pony, she was ready to come in and had obviously laid down in the field as had mud dreadlocks in her mane, all tidied up and clean then she had some hay while I chatted to my pal. All the time I had half an eye on the footie and somehow we won away from home, first time after a string of disastrous results and changes in management.
Back at the cottage and kept thinking it was Saturday, mainly due to the above! Nice evening walk with Capt S and small dog who managed quite a bit of running about so slept for the rest of the evening.
Salmon for tea and then watched old TOTP’s. Youngest DSS messaged with pictures of what he had built for his herbs and strawberries ( have a few runners planted up ready for him ) he is also making a new garden gate for us bless him.7 -
Hello again.
A lovely sunny day today, made a welcome change.
Some pleasures:
1) Yummy hot cross buns yesterday, much prefer the traditional spiced buns to the 'flavoured' varieties and, yes, we have sampled both I'm ashamed to say! These were delicious, toasted and buttered hot, just right.
2) Fish for Good Friday - 3 fish roast was very much enjoyed with new potatoes and spring veg.
3) Finally got the grass cut and edged, I can take no credit but hubby did a sterling job. The grass is recovering well from being a building site, it's looking almost like a garden!
4) Sat in the sun with son and DIL this afternoon, talking through future plans and garden designs. They spent some time turning a spare bedroom into a dressing room complete with dressing table with lights round the mirror and a lot of wardrobes and shoe storage. How luxurious!
5) Kitchen planners here all morning planning and designing the new kitchen in the 'big house'. Pretty much as we had talked it through but good to see it not only on a plan but a video thing that panned round how the whole room could look with dining and lounge areas sort of mocked up as well. Good to see how a big, empty space could finally look. Very wonderful but very expensive too, they'll have to save a lot of pennies!
Not a fan of Easter but this one is passing well, hope you are able to make the most of the long weekend.7 -
Hello. And bedtime. A wee bit earlier than last night but still later than my norm! Just been sitting downstairs chatting with nephew. Both of us yawning, but he’s staying up to watch football!Up early…as was the four year old! But he came through for a cuddle then downstairs making porridge by 6.30am…then a banana , then an apple then toast when DD2 arrived! Then they all disappeared around 10am to go out to a local stately home. And I just sat for 10 minutes just listening to the clock ticking! Sigh!Made lunch for them all coming back. Then egg hunt. Then niece and co left. Then DD2 and the chap left.Tidied up. And then nephew and GN went to cinema and niece in law went to meet friends in the city, so dropped her off for her bus and came home and went aaaah! Then five year old chatterbox came back and told me all about the movie. Then went to bed! ( which I’d popped a hot water bottle in )It’s been a mostly beautiful day! Washing dried!8
