Hello.
Been AWOL for a while, so a bit of catching up to do. Hope everyone is ok. Haven't seen DfV in a while, have we?
Recent pleasures:
1) Lighter eveningsare very welcome but my body clock is all over the place, always struggle with this one, being an owl rather than a lark. Wide awake at 1am, struggling to get up before 9. Not a particular problem, being retired, but would prefer a bit more morning so hope it sorts itself soon.
2) A nice but very quiet Easter. Not my favourite BH but it came and went. Did quite a bit of good reading and enjoyed some Easter foodie treats.
3) All the rain we've had means everywhere is lookng very green with some lovely spring flowers and blossom bursting forth.
4) Just about finished the three boys' bedrooms, much filling and painting and deep cleaning but they look all clean and sparkling now rather than a building site. Sadly, downstairs in the 'big house' still is a building site with very slow progress. Hoped the exciting kitchen plans would have spurred on a bit of action but thigs have ground to a halt somewhat. Never mind, we are on hand to help when things get going again.
5) Financial stuff that needed to be sorted this tax year has finally been done with - what - 2/3 days to spare?! Grrr... and boo to one of the big financial concerns for the pressure but hooray for being very fair and giving us a nice compensation payment. Swings and roundabouts but all will be ok once my blood pressure returns to normal, cutting it just a bit too fine for my peace of mind!
Right, off to make a cuppa and will read back over the last few days to see what I've missed. Good to be back!

For yesterday,
Woke up feeling distinctly meh, a long chat with my beloved over breakfast helped.
Took myself off to the village nursery for some Charlotte seed potatoes, my favourites to grow. Also pick up some more salad seeds, some of those round courgette seeds, 3 Primroses and a lilac campanula to go in the main bed. My version of therapy shopping ☺️Did the Hokey Cokey with some washed towels, in the end I left them out and they were more or less dry by late afternoon.
With my pony, it was a very windy afternoon and some of the horses were acting like loons in their fields but my poppet come in quietly with no high jinks. Let her have some hay then we did a bit of work.

Hello. Bedtime for me too! It’s blooming chilly so I’ve just filled up my hot water bottles.
Up early.Sun was shining, hurrah! Washing hung out.
Just getting ready to go out when there was a knock at my front window…friend with her puppies out for a walk! Awwwh! What a lovely way to start the day!In to town and parked at supermarket and walked down the hill.Appointment at solicitors. Who is so nice!Quick nip to favourite florist for some eucalyptus then Home Bargains for some big zip up bags. Then hiked back up the hill to supermarket. Got some very RTC flowers there. Thank you!Home via my local supermarket to drop off 25 books that belonged to son. Felt a bit guilty but obviously probably more guilty than he ever did leaving them for me to deal with 😆 we did go through them yesterday on the phone. I’m not particularly sentimental about books ( do have a few that I won at prize giving hundreds of years ago) and read them and then pass them on. Or borrow from the library. Anyway it was a big bagful of stuff out the house. And hello doggy! It’s your lunchtime!Pottered around. Went for a wee lie down for half an hour. Then it was time to move a bench/ seat that I was selling…only let me know he wasn’t coming after I sent him a message saying er…when are you coming, he wasn’t! Grrrowled at that! Bench by this time up at other end of house which is looking like a chair graveyard, as I have beautiful new chairs that are HUGE, and then I have four old chairs that are supposed to be getting picked up on Sunday. And now a bench. Anyway all is not lost as niece had messaged me this afternoon to see if I still had bench. At that point it was still getting collected so let her know that now it wasn’t! So she’ll come tomorrow for it!And another thing I’d put up for free yesterday…oh I’ll pick it up tomorrow morning. I’ll be out, I’ll leave it out the front for you. Still there when I came back in at lunchtime. Reminded her it was there. Yeah I’ll be up soon. Still there at 6pm…we have a weather warning for overnight so asked was she coming as I didn’t want to leave it out in the rain. No, I’ve had a really busy day. I’ll come tomorrow! Sigh! ( inwardly scream) Should just have put them in a blooming charity bag! But trying to support local families!Anyway…my sister phoned so had a chat with her. Had sourdough toast for my tea. And growled a lot 😆
The bench housed my little record player so I got that out selected an album randomly’Dirty Dancing ‘ from 1997 and played that with static noises and click clacks. And only plays 5 songs then stops and have you have to turn it over. But I know all the words and the dog and I danced. Hag loves a dance!
And messages from friends through the day made me smile. As well as lovely puppies first thing and sunshine and dry washing.Wind starting to pick up.Tomorrow is another day !7 -
Pleasures for today (Thursday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Walked into town (just over 4 miles today).
3) Went to the library and started to try and write a CV. What a boring job! I'll have to actually use some brain power to fill in all the different sections.
4) Pot of tea in M and S.
5) Spent ages in the back garden. Weeded pretty much everything. Removed some of the bluebells that are coming up everywhere. Currant bushes are growing slowly. Raspberries aren't dead after all.
6) Did some Arabic.
7) No money for 14 days now so using stuff from the freezer. Thawed some raspberries and made smoothies. Smaller son liked those. Made ice cream later with vanilla ice cream (ooo, I can buy proper interesting flavours now MrU has gone!) with raspberries and biscuit spread. Just cooking fishfingers for sandwiches as I type. I also started a batch of yoghurt. I used to make yoghurt every few days but I know I haven't made any since moving house.
8) Smaller son and I popped to Sainsburys.
9) Watching Stranger Things.
10) Spotted a job online that a friend might like. He asked me to make the initial phone call (my English is better) and has an interview next Wednesday.7 -
For yesterday,
Woken up early hours by a huge clap of thunder, I stretched out my hand to give small dog a quick stroke as she sleeps next to me but she was fine, guess being bred as a gun dog helps at times.Heavy rain showers on and off all morning, lots of errands to run with a trip out to the post office, pet store for kibble and filled the car up with petrol.
Definitely not MSE but the treat of a Penhaligon soap being delivered, I’m not a perfume person on the whole but love, love a really fine soap.
The horses had been kept in all day due to bad weather but by the time I got over there in the afternoon the skies had cleared, gave my beauty a long groom while she dozed in the sunshine and enjoyed being cosseted.
Easy tea with Greek pie and leftover jambalaya.7 -
Yes Lainey, that crazy thunderstorm started 0540h yesterday for &, went on for an hour, with loud, wild pelting rain.
1. Fed Senior squad last night. Told them I'd turned the rain off especially, didn't last long😁. Wonderful to have previous, hugely popular Coach and DoR back for the evening, hence big turnout.2. Lent being over, aged grape juice was imbibed🍷, several measures of.😋 & always has black green tea thermos with her and consumes it wisely. &'s licence is &'s lifeline.
3. New mess with oncology update. Person is on annual leave in South Africa! No-one knew, but the osp was 2 lovely nurses taking &'s letter to sort matters out. One has worked with the wonderful Michael Parry and is another phan.😊. Stand-in person was supposed to phone today. No, so back again on Monday.
4. 5p found underfoot. Previous osp meant no time for Bank today, to sort out what's going on since unauthorised mob. no. change. Worrying.
5. After Addenbrookes, to Trumpy emporium, where this chap cantered slow circuits in the rain. Have never seen horses there before.

Hello. It has been a day of lashing rain and wind and rather chilly.
Was wide awake at silly o’clock this morning so was out walking the dog at 4am. In the rain! And I saw a fox.Back to bed when we got in.Had a work appointment late morning which finished quicker than usual so text DD2 to see if she fancied meeting up in her lunch hour. She did. So we had a quick lunch just round the corner from her work. And I’d found my loyalty card ( randomly under the record player) so was delighted to find £5 off voucher on it! Had parked at supermarket so had to waddle stuffed from lunch back up the hill…but was chatting to friend as I waddled as she’d called me.Home and hello two doggy’s. Pup had been dropped off when I was out. Quick wee for each of them. Then niece came with great nephew who the dogs were delighted to see. So lots of silly nonsense from him and two silly excited dogs. She was picking up stuff that I’m clearing out.Started to empty airing cupboard of stuff I won’t use pre move. Gave DD2 some towels when she came to pick up her dog.Another friend had called when I was at lunch so just off the phone to her.And tomorrow is of course another day!7 -
Pleasures for today (Friday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Went to the coffee morning at the local theatre and had 2 games of chess. One of the organisers sent me the photos that had me on and I might attach the funniest one.
Got back just in time to see the local council man smack my garden wall with his lawnmower and knock the coping stone off the top! He was very chatty and someone will come and cement it back on.
3) Walked 4.25 miles and had a pot of tea in Sainsburys cafe.
4) Had a short walk with smaller son at the pool which feeds into the pool behind my house.
5) Potted up some baby spider plants.
6) Mowed the front lawn.
7) Made a spag bol that was rather nice.
8) Went to Wildlife Club at the village hall opposite my old house. Saw one old neighbour on the car park so had a chat with him. Then saw other neighbours in the village hall. We had a talk on moths.
9) Watching the Last Leg now.
