NGS afternoon at Nettlestead Place in Kent. Beautiful gardens, a mix of formal and wild. Great little maze6

Pleasures for today (Sunday)
1) A lie in!
2) No damage despite enormous storm and torrential rain overnight.
3) Walked into town against the wind and had a pot of tea in M and S.
4) Put the washing away, tidied up, sold another top on Ebay.
5) Made a homemade pizza using the BBQ sauce that was in the welcome pack that the estate agents gave us! Plus left over chicken. Also a salad.
6) Caught up on hours of television, sitting on the sofa with a hot water bottle.7 -
1 I found the perfect clutch bag hopefully on vinted for £7.49 inc postage, first time using vinted, so I guess I’m about to find out. I want a bag for a wedding, it turns out the dress bag I have doesn’t even fit my mobile now. All purple velvet, keeping the theme here. I’ve just looked up how much to give for a wedding gift of money, and I am very shocked by how high it is, I am going to stick with what I am thinking as it’s what I am comfortable with.
2 I’ve ordered a couple of small gifts for DH birthday based on very unsubtle hints.
3 I relaxed by gardening, with little paw assistance.
4 As I type I am cooking up gammon slices with pineapple and egg of course, veg and chips.
5 The woodpecker is either announcing its arrival loudly or eating one of the fence panels….
6 A load of washing hung out, it always feels like a win when we’re able.

Good morning. Grey here.
Back from a lovely relaxing week in the sun in Spain.
Lots of walks then sitting in cafes with good coffee. Beautiful views. Pretty park. Good food. And sun! I really should live in a warm country! ( the Spaniards meanwhile were still wearing jeans. And zipped up jackets. In temps of 23 plus. Obviously it's not yet summer for them)
And now we're back to cold and rain !
Hopefully DH appointment to decide the next stage of his treatment tomorrow ( been cancelled 4 times so far).
But for today, lots of washing! And far from a good drying day too!
Happy Monday everyone

for yesterday
1) got washing out on line before church - fortunately all still on line when we got back, goodness it was windy (all dry though in record speed)
2) harmonious MrT shop (for quite a while after mum moved in I found the weekly grocery shop very tense - guess not surprising as we were both very used to leading the shop)
3) good walk with the boys up balgay - passed the time of day with other wind-swept owners
4) tidied up the garden - all the hanging baskets looking very good (lots of pansies)
5) episode 2 of mammals and another episode of traces and bed

For yesterday,
Woken up early by the wind rattling a loose piece of fascia under the eaves, couldn’t get back to sleep so had a cuppa and small dog cuddles.
We are such creatures of habit so bacon butties and then downloaded the Hurchers omnibus to listen to at the usual time despite change to schedule!
Long bath and then gave myself a pedicure ahead of 🤞sandal wearing weather soon.
Big lunch then much lolling about on sofas before we stirred ourselves enough for a late afternoon walk, the beech trees are resolutely still bare but close up you can see the leaf buds have formed so won’t be long.
Love our lazy Sundays at home.7 -
High up on The Gallops (explain to & why typing 'Gallops' resulted in a lower case 'w' and nothing else) to try and write 5 osps.
1. Surrounded by crows, many crow chaps chasing fewer crow ladies. Others doing big beaky digs, one by the bin very, very deep. Must be something good there.😋
2. Strange mix of blue, sun, cloud and wind so far today. Big sun has just returned @1826h.
3. Emporium rtc, A🌟 organic rump steak, £9 per kg down from....£38 per kg! 3 yummy bits for &, £4.42.👏
4. Crocheting against the clock somewhat - baby blankies for early June twins of longtime young rugby friends from the Alma.Thistles for E, roses for S, will be made and appliquéd. Both archaeologists and E leads Cambridge Graduate Orchestra. Some teasing about how much longer E can bow 'cello, or shoulder violin.😊
5. Lovely village service yesterday arvo, always a great singsong. It's monthly only and simple refreshments after include grapes - the fellowship of the vine.🍇☺️🫶👍

Hello. Early bedtime again with hot water bottles and annoying throat!Actually slept better last night as I probably got about 6 hours! But awake from just after 4am. We were on the beach by 6.15am and had a thoroughly good walk! Just us. Still breezy but not the wild winds we had over the weekend…just enough to blow H’s ears back!Dropped off a bag of jumpers in charity bin at supermarket carpark and my husbands old hiking boots. Felt a bit sad ( but in an odd kind of final way) but I thanked them for all the miles they walked. He loved hiking and mountain climbing. Anyway maybe someone can use them or they can use parts of them?Home briefly. Washed dog’s car blankets and towels and out to dry.Waited for pup to be dropped off. Then I went out to meet niece. Her : can we meet in beach town? Me…I’m blooming just back from there. ( it’s about 20-25 minute drive) so we compromised and met at midway garden centre. Anyway we had a lovely blether and I had a cheese scone for a change, though not as nice as cheese scones in my favourite garden centre.Went via charity shop on way back and dropped off three bags of stuff. Had a quick peruse but told myself to stop being ridiculous as I don’t need anything and I’m trying to declutter!Home and hello doggies. Quick seperate pee walks with them. Then I hoovered half of a beach out the car and cleaned the dog nose marks off his window! Nice clean blankets back in situ…smelling of fresh air rather than of wet dog.
Then I cut the grass! And hurrah I only have the front to do now!Sister had called whilst I was hoovering and again when I was mowing so I never heard the phone so called her back. Then I got all my library books to go to mobile library only it wasn’t there! By which time it was starting to spit with rain. It’s only at the end of my street so not far to go.Booked in a charity collection for my sofa and chairs that won’t fit in new house. So from next week I’ll be sitting on floor 😀 ( just as well I have another sofa in the extension! )
So took all the sofa cushions off and hoovered which weren’t too bad as I did them pre going up for sale…did find three tennis balls though under sofa! Rolled up rug and used my extensive elastic band collection 😆
And washed the cushion covers which I’ll probably shrink wrap the cushions once they are dry.
Had the almost exact same tea as last night but with sweetcorn instead of red cabbage! And it was very nice too.Called friend in reply to her text! Chatter chatter.
Hung up cushion covers on clothes horse whilst I waited for kettle to boil. Then headed upstairs with my annoying throat! Not sore just rough and grated. It has felt like a very productive day! And I’m glad I got everything done outside that I needed to before the heavy rain came back! Sigh…sunshine you were nice…if brief!9 -
Pleasures for today (Monday)
1) Good to get up after a poor sleep. Have been pondering about MrU recently, even though I had heard nothing...
2) Met my brother and his dog at 9.30 and we had a long walk along the canal from one village to the next. I took a flask of tea and he took 2 slice of simnel cake. We found 4 or 5 geocaches.
3) A disability charity will pay for smaller son's football season ticket this year. I passed on his bank details today.
4) I went to M and S for a pot of tea. The local hospital phoned while I was there, They have been trying to make contact with MrU. I was put down as next of kin when he had to stay in hospital. The only way I have left to make contact with him is email so I just sent a short message to say the hospital wants to speak to you. No reply (no change there!!) so I just have to hope now that he is OK.
5) Posted an eBay sale.
6) Watched several episodes of Sort Your Life Out.
7) Took smaller son to Sainsburys and they had pastel de natas so he was happy.8 -
I was seriously considering sleeping on the sofa, as when dh is poorly is snoring literally bringing the house down.
1 Planted sunflower seeds as they’ve started sprouting in their packets from the ones I saved last year.
2 Meal planned for the week.
3 Cleaned up the house, in fact anything other than the actual de cluttering of one room I seriously need to do, which is now tomorrows job.
4 Chicken risotto was tonight’s grub, advice here, I used red quinoa “for a change” it made it look like frog sprawn.
