1 Popped to Lidl and picked up a couple of bags of compost and bedding plants. The main reason I went was the apple pie, as I was acquiring 3 from the freezer a lovely old lady asked about them as she had been craving apple pie, I mentioned they are seasoned with cinnamon and portioned up and that was it, she asked me to get one out for her as well, I work on commission now…
2 I planted up the plants.
3 Picked up DH’s prescription and had a natter.
4 Rather lucky, dh hollered from the front drive, I didn’t know where he was but after tracking him down started a whole conversation of why a ferret had walked up to him in the garage via the front drive, so we took her into the back garden and watched as she made her way through a new hole made on crumbled concrete she had dug, so started a 2 hour job of making the garden re ferret proof for now. It also made me phone the vets as normally we microchip when neutered and she isn’t done yet…

Hello
Been a nice day up until half an hour ago and now it’s lashing with rain. Started just as I was walking back from my friends…help my washing is out!
Up early.
Sorted through jewellery. I really don’t wear much, just my rings and occasionally a necklace. So I’ve a pile for charity shop.Had the dentist. I’ve fractured a tooth that was already filled so had a great big nerve block that took blooming hours to wear off. I’m so used to mostly getting the all clear at the dentist that I really don’t like getting anything done. So I have to sit in my hands to keep them out the way. Anyway I’d parked at the town supermarket and walked the long way round then walked back up the hill.Came home and went for a lie down.Plumber came.Pup dropped off.Made schlurpy mince and potatoes with peas and mushrooms in the mince. Took me blooming ages to schlurp.
Walked round to friends to drop something off and had a lovely chatter.Dashed back as rain had just started. I’d washed my sofa covers. So they were almost dried.Just waiting on pup getting picked up. Hot water bottles filled in anticipation!9 -
Pleasures for today (Thursday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Got up reasonably quickly and have been on the go all day! Started off by managing to make a hairdressing appointment at college for next Tuesday (£4). They don't ever have many slots.
3) Walked 5 miles today.
4) Had a walk round the charity shops but didn't see anything. Stopped at Costa for a cup of tea (it was so hot walking!) and my first teacher from primary school recognised me and came over to say hello. After 41 years !
5) Came home and the huge mirror from the old fitted wardrobe had disappeared from the garden. I freecycled it but they were supposed to pick it up last week.
6) Tidied up all the pulled up weeds from the garden that I had left lying around. Also the cat food sachets that the fox had torn up.
7) Started to get rid of MrU's stuff from the garage (happy birthday to him!) Freecycled his work boots (they rubbed his poor, delicate little feet...) and a nice lady came to collect them immediately. She also rescued my cat who had randomly decided to get caught in a bag. I've also freecycled his coat (old one just worn for gardening), his pile of firewood for a firepit which will now never materialise and also a light from the old kitchen.
8) Made a big tea. Partridge casserole then ice cream with a few fried figs.
9) Sorted the kitchen and the piles of washing up I had generated. Then cleaned the bathroom.8 -

For yesterday,
Into horsey town for a food shop and saw several strings heading up to the gallops, pretty things but oh so young.
Decided to have the afternoon at home so off to see horse in the morning instead, surprised her in the field and a squealing, mud monster cantered over to see me, gave her meds and various f&v, as for the mud well it will still be here today and I like to see her just enjoying being a horse.
A red kite took off from nearby tree and circled over our heads.
Enjoyed my afternoon at home, found a sheltered spot in the garden and read my book, small dog wandered around for a bit and then lay down by my feet. My little shadow.
Made a flan thing with mushroom, bacon and the last of a pack of goats cheese. TV watching and we are still persevering with The Twelve but hmm…..7 -

Pleasures for today (Friday)
1) Woke up to see smaller son in my room, brandishing the metal "legs" of a monitor. He thought he had heard someone in the house so we crept around but there was no one there. Didn't sleep well after that!
2) Went to the coffee morning in the local theatre and had a game of chess.
3) Went to the little Tesco afterwards and they were selling pastel de nata (smaller son's favourite). Had those with egg mayo sandwiches for lunch.
4) Had a bit of a tidy up. Tons of washing which nearly dried in the garden.
5) Out again at 2 for an hour of badminton then some table tennis.
6) Took garden trimmings and weedings to the tip.
7) My dad's primary school friend (now 80) was passing so came in to see the new house, particularly the birds on the pool at the back.
8) Phoned my school friend.
9) Had muntjac steaks and hm chips for tea.

For yesterday,
A fine, sunny day, washing done and dried on the line.
Met my friend for a coffee in village nursery cafe, I cycled down.I walked out and got my girlie in from her field in my short yard boots, first time in months that I haven’t had to wear long wellies due to the thick mud! They are rolling the fields this weekend so hopefully the horses will soon be out at nighttime.
Mobile dog groomer came and small dog had her spring haircut, 🤞 she’s much more comfortable as her coat had got very thick.
Easy tea of pizza and coleslaw, Capt S opened the bar and I enjoyed a rhubarb gin with ginger ale.8
