Hello, back again late in the day as seems to be usual these days.
Some pleasures for the last day or so:
1) Met up with brother, sister and the gran of the new baby for coffee yesterday. Always surprised how many people are out and about and having fun on a Monday morning. To think I missed all this when Monday mornings used to be just the start of the working week.
2) Handed over 'New Baby' cards and the blanket I had knitted for the new arrival. Lots of lovely compliments and if I say so myself it really is beautiful, so pleased with it. Many hours of work and at times frustration but all worth it.
3) Sorted the who is taking what list with my brother for our holiday next week, now have a clear plan of what I need to pack, buy and make, all perfectly do-able.
4) To the hospital this morning for the long-awaited (since February) fast-tracked (allegedly) allergy testing to begin. I have 60 patches on my back, have to go back on Thursday to have them removed and then Saturday to discuss the results. No showers or hair washing until Saturday afternoon, that will be hard. I'm a restless sleeper at the best of times so hope I don't knock them all off in the night!
5) Son's partner has been baking so samples of salted caramel and Rolo cheesecake for pudding tonight. Mmmm...scrummy.
Right, off to bed and will try to lie very still. Hope your week is progressing well, already halfway through this week tomorrow, at my age they just fly by!8 -
goodness haven't posted since Friday. Had a fab weekend.
1) offer holder day Saturday - found another Luton supporter :-) That was before we lost 5-1
2) bus down to Bach concert with mum - i ate my cold lo risotto on the bus - it was lish
3) concert fab then off to Dundee Tapestry at V&A - absolutely fab (and free)
4) Sunday was church then Mr T then walked the Miley with the dogs
5) then 2nd half of Arsenal game with Mr G
For today
1) lovely walk in (cold but dry)
2) free lunch - always love a free lunch!
3) which meant the lo supper from last night that i had planned for lunch was tea
4) footie with DrM
5) clear night so can actually see the moon!MrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

For yesterday,
Dropped mini off at the garage, we have a strange humming news at speed!
Baked a loaf, washed the floors and did a general tidy, there’s not been much spring cleaning done so far this year, I’m blaming the inclement weather!
Phone call from garage, noise is down to slightly worn wheel bearing, not bad enough yet to do anything about but……you have an oil and coolant leak so do need to fix those, we park on gravel so no obvious signs. Mini to be kept overnight.
Lucky enough to be able to borrow Capt S’ car and visit pony, she charged over to me so was obviously ready to come in, we move to summer routine at the weekend which may come as a shock - she stays in during the day to avoid sugar laden grass but out at night.
Veggie tea, a butter bean type casserole thing with fresh bread, caught up with HIGNFY with half an eye on footie scores, United lost so looks like our relegation fight will go to the wire.7 -
For the past couple of days
1 DH stopped into order bits to service a friend’s car, only to find the company has been bought out and swapped addresses to one walking distance from us, thankfully still selling the same things needed.
2 Up early and out to the vets to drop Hershey (the ferret girl they gave us) off for a neuter and microchip and to be fussed over, then as the day progressed one of the ferrets developed into needing to be seen and voila we were back and bailing them out, on the plus side we said well we had to pick her up any rate so he err sort of saved us a journey.
3 Stuck to the food planning, a hm seafood salad for lunch and a all-leftovers pasta bake for tea.
4 A dress I ordered second hand for being a wedding guest arrived and its great quality, all velvet, genuinely feel fabulous in it. I’ve been on steroids a very long time and I am becoming increasingly accepting of being larger but at least healthier.
5 It’s been 4 seasons in one day so far here.
___
1 The whole house is cleaned again; it did take the whole morning, thou.
2 After a pit stop for lunch, I then persuaded myself to get on and spent 3 hours generally tidying and more de cluttering. Today achieved a bag of 15 books, and a bag of clothes, admittedly barely a dent but a start. I’ve booked in a tip run to help with the de cluttering and challenged myself to get another bag of clothes and books together by thurs as well.
3 DH spent the day servicing a car in the drive, while dodging showers I just kept him fed and watered.
4 Surprised DH with ordering in, it’s a cheap takeaway delivery in fairness, but we’ve been cutting back due to outgoings.
5 Pleased to see lots of short sunflower seeds coming on in the greenhouse.
6 Refilled the birdfeeders after the robins literally demanded it.

Pleasures for today (Wednesday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Dropped some stuff off at my friend's house for the rehoused asylum seekers. A stray t shirt and socks of MrU's that I didn't think he would want included.
3) Looked round the charity shops in floody town the canal town but didn't buy anything. In fact, the really good Oxfam in canal town which had lots of pottery last week is closed for refurbishment.
4) Popped to lovely Lidl.
5) Smaller son was pleased with the Lidl individual pizza (we've also liked them). I spent over an hour mowing the grass.
6) I cooked shepherds pie for smaller son and used the last partridge in a casserole for me.
7) House tidy, washing put away, dishwasher on.
8) Smaller son wants to go for a walk so we will leave just now. I want to silently chop some lilac off some bushes as we pass by...7 -
dress sounds fab PK
it's really happening mhags!
we had shepherd's pie too frith
1) rebooted internet though as DrM corrected me rebooted the rooter. whatevs! but pleasure is it's back - when did we become so dependent?!
2) looooong and very intense meeting at the uni - the pleasures were lunch and actually a very good meeting - I felt proud of the job we did and the outcomes
3) cold but sunny walk home but realised half way that I'd not shut the window so went back - met fab medical student and had a chat
4) caught the bus home and met a couple of friends i hadn't seen for a while
5) footie with MrG and DrM - a colleague of DrM's sister was there - we found we had very similar tastes in books until... wuthering heights. I'm more of a Jane Eyre fan myself. Was sad to see the English teams go out but enjoyed the footie and the company and of course the walk home.MrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

Good morning. Sunny BUT frost!! No wonder the heating decided to come on! I've had enough of the weather now. Yesterday had to dash out to rescue washing from the rain and then had to dash in as I was pelted by hailstones. And ouch. They hurt! Left half the washing on the line to get soaked. It was washing or me. I saved myself!
Mended the sofa cover where a seam had split. Cover is in the washer as we speak. Should last another 10 years now 😂
Booked a holiday to Devon in August. DR gave us a voucher for a local coach firm at Christmas so that will go towards it. It's a part of the country we've rarely visited.. Just hope the weather has improved by then.
Using up bitsas continues. Last night was a house special curry using left over sauce, bit of chicken and some little bits of various veg. It was lovely. Who knows what today will bring in the freezer lottery.
Happy frosty day everyone

For yesterday,
Busy morning, cleaned the bathrooms which as always is only a pleasure when it’s done.Dug out my old static exercise bike and dusted off the cobwebs, it’s one of those pedal only ones that go under a desk and handy for when you want some exercise but the weather is bad which it was! 30 minutes done while listening to a podcast.
An Ebay purchase arrived, lovely linen dress to replace a much missed one, dreaming of warmer weather so it can be worn.
With my pony, all work & chores done and then I sat on my grooming box in her stable, she snoozed and blew hay scented kisses into my face.
Capt S being the generous soul he is seems to have passed on his cold, early night for us both with hot water bottles and Jakemans.8 -
Hello from Rainy Land
has rained all day after such a nice day yesterday and to be nice tomorrow.
Up just in time to see another beautiful sunrise.
Dealt with dog then dozed off again and only woke when DD2 called on her walk to work.
Dropped off some stuff at a charity then into supermarket. Took dog along for the ride…think he thought he was going to the beach 😆
Then it’a been a-packing boxes all blooming day ( with a very lengthy lunch break 😆)
I have so much kitchen stuff most of which is used. So the dresser cabinet is packed and some of the bookshelves filled with recipe books and then two other cupboards are emptied.Friend called this afternoon and I called my sister.Did a little bit of touch up painting where sofa had been and will just go and do a second coat.9
