1) coffee with colleague - very good catch-up and plans hatched
2) called into enquiry centre to thank them for patching me up when i fell - the very nice lady who patched me up was there and was very glad for the update - she'd been worrying about me (i was feeling very sorry for myself when i saw here last time)
3) caught the number 6 up to the hospital - had been curious about its route - it certainly goes 'the scenic route'! lovely sunny day
4) friend picked me up from work and we went to hers for supper and ceilidh music, joined 3 friends (so keyboard, accordion, flute and 2 fiddles)
5) and now i'm home catching up on the archers then i'll listen to the very last Now Show, soon to be the Then ShowMrsSD declutter medals 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐8 -
For yesterday,
Not much of anything happened as felt rough with my cold but grateful for,
Hot honey & lemon drinks
The company of small dog as I lay on the sofa reading my book, the only thing that shifts her is the sound of the treat packet being taken out of the cupboard!
My friend said she would give pony her meds so no need to drive over to the stables.
Capt S finished at midday and we watched a couple of episodes of The Twelve.
The skies cleared late afternoon and we had a gentle meander around the field.7 -
Hello. It’s been a lovely day here.
Up early. A very chilly start to the day.
Into town. Dropped off two bags of charity stuff. I’ve two sets of drawers being passed on to a friend this week so I emptied them and put out things I don’t wear/never going to wear again.Went to bank. Got something sorted out by a very nice staff member. She was so helpful.Farmers market was on in town. Got some rhubarb from the veg stall. He gave me an extra big stalk as it was green and the rest was red!Went in to favourite town coffee shop and had a tuna croissant. Had a nice chat with owner. Who sat down to talk as it had emptied. I used to work for their family years ago.
Home. Hello doggy.Had a snooze! Was watching something and dozed off!
Then I went out into garden. Got the cushions for the sofa and a new library book and sat for a few hours and just read and enjoyed the warmth. Still had a jumper on but it was just lovely!Saw bees, a butterfly and a ladybird. Then came back in and have been moving packing boxes so I can actually walk in a straight line instead of some kind of assault course 😆
And just such a lovely day!8 -
Pleasures for today (Saturday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Park Run just in time to see my brother leaving. He was 13th today. I had a few nice chats with people and a cup of tea and slice of cake.
3) The road was shut on the way home and the other road bridge has been/will be shut for 18 months due to more flood prevention works. So hundreds of cars all had to cross the river in the next town, which took over an hour due to the traffic! I did listen to the last football match of the season on the radio and stopped to get petrol then to go to Lidl.
4) Walked to town and back (4 miles) and had a pot of tea in M and S.
5) Mowed the lawn and spoke to both neighbours in turn.
6) A sudden string of messages from MrM.
7) I spoke to my school friend on the phone.8 -
Hello again.
Really tired tonight so some brief pleasures:
1) As I thought, I have no allergies - or at least not to the 60 things I was tested for - so will now have another appointment with the dermatologist to dive a bit deeper.
2) Massive pleasure, my first shower since Tuesday now my hospital appointments are over. Bliss!
3) Hubby managed the walk to and from the hospital really well, he is gradually improving, fingers crossed he will be a lot better by the time we go away on Thursday.
4) Further down our road there is an avenue of cherry trees that are currently forming a canopy of fluffy pink blossom, just delightful against a blue sky.
5) My bairn has started plasterboarding the new kitchen, a massive job but he is getting on really well and is working hard. Plasterer coming to have a look at the plastering needed this week, he reckons it will be a three day job for three men but it will be a huge step forward when done as they can then order the kitchen units and for the first time in four and a half years will have a proper kitchen. Hooray!
Right, good to touch base but I need my bed, lovely to be able to sleep without all the patches digging in my back. Enjoy the rest of the weekend, hope we manage to catch some more sunshine!9 -
@Highdays - Hope they can find out what is bothering you - I turned out to be allergic to just-cut grass, fleas, and watermelon. My sister was allergic to rye grass, Bermuda grass, maple trees and olive trees - guess what were in her front and back yards. We are both keeping it under control so far - though with two cats, I struggle with keeping them medicated for fleas. They object quite a bit to helping me with my allergy.9

For yesterday,
Bit of a lie-in followed by coffee and a croissant.
Made a loaf and had a long, hot bath whilst it was proving, used Epsom salts as a tad achey.
Over to the stables, girlie was changing to summer routine of in during the day and out at night so made sure she had a hay net hanging on her gate and a warm rug on as nights are still cold. Lovely chat with other owners, it’s such a friendly yard.
Home and neither of us were especially hungry so cooked some farm shop snorkers and we had a sausage sarnie each.
Some good music on BBC 2 but too tired to watch the lot, noticed the moon was nearly full as we went up to bed and thought of my horse, out in the moonlight for the first time since last autumn.8 -
Feeling a bit tired cos did watch to the end laineyT
1) hair cut at 9 - great catch-up with my lovely hairdresser
2) bus to uni to make a start on student's completed thesis - exciting! - remembered to take a flask
3) pub to watch Leicester game - disaster, all 3 sets on Celtic game, same in Corner Bar but we found a screen in Tay Bridge - did mean we didn't get our toasty and had to settle for a pint of guiness ratther than our usual lunch beverage of coffee
4) friend's talk on her visit to the Antarctic - fabulous photos, lots of penguins, lots of glaciers - it was her treat to herself when she retired from being Head of Geography
5) carried on reading through the thesis with BBC2 60 years of music on. Set the alarm for 8:30 and needed it!MrsSD declutter medals 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐6 -
For this week:
On Tuesday Met friend at lovely garden centre for light lunch and plant buying 😊
Lunch out with ladies who lunch group on Wednesday, a nice Turkish where I had taramasalata and then a kebab, very tasty. The only thing I dislike when with a group is sorting/paying the bill ☹️
Thursday was OHs day off in lieu of working Sunday, so after we had been to building society to sort his ISA and do a few jobs in town, we went back to the garden centre I went to on Tuesday to have brunch and to buy the blue pots I had spotted and yet more plants 🌺 Potted some up and sowed some salad leaf seeds when we got home.
On Friday I met bestie for a quick lunch locally as OH had booked a night in premier inn in Gloucester as his team were playing them on Saturday so I went along for the trip. We had a good journey and enjoyed a meal at the next door Beefeater and had a good sleep at the hotel, in a very comfortable bed 💤
Saturday morning was lovely and sunny so we headed into town and enjoyed a good couple of hours in Gloucester cathedral, which was beautiful. We then parked down at the docks and he went off to the football. I had a wander around in the sun and visited the waterways museum. Then I sat it out in Wetherspoons 🤣 with a large glass of red wine 🍷 and ordered food as OH came out of football. His team won, so he was happy. We had a nice meal and a good journey home, so it all worked out well.
Hope you’ve all had a good weekend and a bit of sunshine 🌞8 -
mhagster - lemonade scones, removal Booked (Yikes!), Haggis' travel abode, line drying, touch up painting, a rhubarb Danish pastry, the packing assault courseFrith - just so impressed at you Getting On. Lilac for the blossom or for cuttings? Triumph vs IKEA! oops sports people. Road closed for 18 months?!Highdays - the amazing baby blanket rightly applauded & 60 test patches?! Phew, scrubbed clear & comfortable, but onwards. Oooh, cherry blossom!DundeeDoll - love your leftovers! Rarely hurts to reboot the router occasionally. Good call to thank enquiry centre. Antartcic after being Head of Geog, wow!LaineyT - good to hear car not fatal, hurrah static exercise bike virtue, drat generous with cold. Foraged spring green treats with beloved, shared Vicks with Capt S... Honey & lemon & staying warm - they work... Beautiful one out in the moonlight.Purple kitten - velvet can do wonderful things for the self esteem! Tidying is doubtless virtuous, but something of a Forth Bridge? Bluebells are good for morale too.Happycas - pelted by hailstones is Not GoodPaulieherts - thankyou so much for photos which are a holiday to look at!OS pleasures recentlyMy "chaffinch alarm call" is still active, but I have learned to drop back off again to the tappings & thuddings against the window. [Then went quiet, & is back thudding again!]Ah, simple gustatory pleasures of lo pizza. BoP almost certainly would not approve, but isn’t here to keep us eating Proper Foods…If proof were needed that my visual memory is atrocious, the number of duplicate badges I have for my camp blanket is telling. “Before you complain, have you volunteered yet?” - has me chuckling every time. Plus the utterings over some old Brownie badges - I’m old enough all mine read ‘girl guide’….Bring queried as to a reliquary by Youngest (who wasn’t sure if this was a wind-up) & me vehement that no, a solid part of medieval faith of all classes. Anyone eavesdropping in the supermarket may have had something of a surprise…Middleson has brought bark chippings! Messy play for grown ups (but shrewdly done saves weeding).Oh I say. Just clearing the decks to wash up & son shambles in, chides me for being on his territory & shoos me off with tea, a home made choc-chip biscuit & a scotch egg. No one said your offspring can turn into heroes (although the less said about their bedrooms).Middleson barrelled in to fetch a third kayak (news to me!), borrow a sander & snaffle my sack of remaining wheat so he can feed the birds. [Later photo of stripped wall ready for sanding then painting - he does not muck about!]Listening to the eclipse. I’m in Lancashire under the usual pudding bowl of cloud, but don’t begrudge those with the sight their fun with the sun.Caught Only Connect, almost from the start! And just wow VCM delivering a line that could have been delivered by an archbishop as a dismissal, awed.Drafted, handwrote & posted a letter to a cousin on the death of his father. Sadly rather sure all it’ll do is remind him Again of his loss & that the family are scattered but well intentioned. The pleasure is knowing it may also bring a scrap of comfort.Family tree climbing & covid is beginning to show up like the war. Makes me all the more appreciative of the lengths we went to, shielding. Didn’t stop old age, did buy us more months & less what-if.Heroic son, jump leads (my car has a flat battery) & him planning to push my car up the drive: “Wait here!”. So I do, sat, listening anxiously for the screams. Pleasure is son, terror is his confidence may be misplaced. Then realising it isn’t! “Go back inside where it’s warm.” Competent bossy young person!Waiting in bank branch (for yet more paperwork), amused by background Muzak Steve Winwood “roll with it baby”. Sensible advice, why I’m moving my thre'pence ha’penny elsewhere for a better interest rate.Tour de banks has seen less than a hundred quid paid off the mortgage. Still, every little helps. (Two accounts closed so less admin.)Oh my, the Aldi & M&S bickering (garden furniture & a bottle of rose ) continues & I’m beginning to suspect collusion as the tone is still dry but it’s funny! Will see Godma for first time in Ages tomorrow, so am taking her a couple of Hunza apricot stones (scarce, precious to me) as a gift. [Brief but friendly]Being clear/firm with mum that her wisdom intelligence & beauty are clear, why hide any of that with makeup? (Grandson agrees - delighted his father’s prejudice on the matter runs true!)Got the fancy new hearing-aid-compatible phones all working, loud hurrahs. Currently all lined up charging but all “registered”! (Feel I have redeemed my techie rep after absolutely no joy last month.) {The screws for the clock case? Again leave me bewildered & frustrated. The glued wooden fragments have set well though.}Figured how to leave mum happy with a paper - stuffed the newspapers Underneath the Waitrose weekend read & she’s absorbed & intrigued without politics or death. Must remind sisters to wave the loyalty plastic & bring a copy regularly (oh how they’ll scream, forced into Waitrose!)Youngest, hauled with me down to mum’s in his capacity as house cook, has inspected the fridge & freezer content & taken my card & loyalty plastic shopping… (It works for us.)Found and uploaded a bunch of photos of family usually bashful near a camera. (Mum’s wedding album left in my room!) Amused at bride sorting veil photos - seems flower trimmed mirrors were de rigeur for various generations & I utterly failed to get the memo or that shot! (So many strong women. I toddle in the wake of relatives & ancestors.)Mum, carer & I happily scrunching on tortilla chips with chilli as the cook snarls at any suggestion of conversation.Tucking mum in for the night after a vigorously gestured “go brush your teeth Then your hair” has us both chuckling. Words are near pointless with her hearing aids out, but the gestures all the more full of affection. And imperatives. Both ways!Ah, fine old family cry “who’s been snaffling my bowl of snakes?” (Some blighter [family, likely son] has made off with my usb c cable.)And home & tea once again by the pint & no sign of sun. Bliss! (The windowsill shrubbery may not wholly agree.)Weeding email to clear space I found I’d accidentally wiped almost two years worth of journal. Recovered all bar a couple of days but yikes!“Alive & living in Midsomer” - well, there’s a phrase that invites the politely curious doubt….Ach wedding anniversary. These coulda shoulda things. Two lads doing well - blessings I can count, and hug! [Local cherry tree finally in blossom.]Father Goose “just this once will you do things my way?” & all those reproachful looks - love it!Middleson rightly proud of egg glazing a pie top but appalled at using a sprig of thyme (“so bourgeois” - don’t think he quite grasps the nuances) so is happily snaffling a silicone pastry brush (1 of a set bought off Amazon when Youngest nearly had a turn when offered a brand new Wickes paintbrush) Me, I was taught to wash my hands & use my fingers, but if the lads cooking & getting creative, I’ll cheer them on.Having devoured !!!!!! Francis novels in my youth, delighted to find son Felix has learned well & am happily scrunching through his output. Rousing hurrahs for the library!Turns out our King’s Birthday Party/ Trooping of the Colour is (this year) Father’s Day & yet my diary reads Drag Youngest Slipper Shopping. (Only time of year when decent range of slippers available in store.)St. George's Day Parade with Scouts all complete in shockingly sunny weather (not that warm, Leader Rules 'Always Wear Thermals under official shirt' worth the frenzied search for same) all cheerful & much applause, stompings & hurrahs as various folks got certificates & badges.Health, strength, love & courage to all as have need. Plus de-icing gear despite this Summer Time lark.8
