Hello.Up early which of course was actually earlier! Went and had a lovely early morning doggy walk. Just us. Lots of birdsong. Blackbirds. Mistle thrush. All said good morning to on passing. A skein of geese flying over just as I was turning in to my street so stood and watched them.
Visitors up and about. DD2 and the chap came over. Visitors left. Goodbye! Lovely to have but ooft at the noise when you’re used to just yourself!DD2 and I went over to the flat as it’s getting handed back on Wednesday. Did a few touch up bits of painting.Went to get dog food. Ooft at the price. It’s been on special offer since I had to change his diet. No longer on offer.Back home. I kept the pup so they could fill the car with stuff to take back to theirs.
May have had a snoozette.
Made tea for them when they collected pup. We had sausages, yorkies, mashed potatoes, mashed carrot and turnip, sprouts and peas and roast parsnips and very nice it was too!And the joy of still being light! Hurrah!8 -
Pleasures for today (Sunday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Walked into town. Found nowhere open (didn't know it was Easter) but Cafe Nerro was in full swing so I had a cup of tea in there.
3) I have walked 70 miles in the past 20 days. (Strava).
4) Had to drive around a bit to find a garden centre that was open. Bought compost and mixed salad seeds.
5) Home again and I planted seeds my friend gave me when I moved last year (mainly herbs) and an avocado stone. And the mixed salad leaves in a large pot.
6) I ebayed 2 dresses. Such a boring job!
7) Watched a bit more of the David Beckham documentary.7 -
For yesterday,
Early but later start with the clocks changing, small dog cuddles and oh that first cuppa of the day.
Breakfast and then over to see pony, she saw me walking towards her paddock and cantered over, calling to me ❤️ Carrots, medication, treats and polos, once satisfied that there was nothing left in my bucket she politely pointed out some itchy spots for her Mum to deal with. I leaned into her big shoulder and dreamed for a bit, my place of peace.
Home and the joint roasted while we listened to the Archers omnibus, I’d picked up some early rhubarb from roadside stall so we had that in a crumble for afters.
Watched the last episode of Whitstable Pearl, now on to next series.
Grey, mizzly kind of day so late afternoon walk was a quick affair, light until late though, very welcome.7 -
Beautiful afternoon by river, still here...after changing mind re: sudden urge for CUBG took & to Trumpy P and R....and no.138 in queue for bus!.....around 2hrs minimum! Office chap came out and told everyone after 20mins. At least twice as many behind us! Unreal! Remembered again why I avoid Town of Gown like the plague in holidays. Was even gladder when I drove past CUBG entrance and saw queue of at least 80, with many small children, waiting.
Merci, mais non.
So, on y va👏.

1. Good book finished - 'Avarice', by Pete Brassett, Scottish, new author to me, will look for more.
2. Listening at times to cricket in India - in fact Rajasthan Royals have just won. Kiwi Trent Boult bowled brilliantly earlier - 2 consecutive 1st ball 1st over wickets! And yesterday, Toulon beat Bayonne away, 46-10,👍👏😁, ❤️et🖤 avec le bonus!
3. Thermos on hand and Easter chocolate allowed now, Lent over. Proper Aotearoa marshmallow eggs and choc bunnies from SANZA!🤗😋💖. All preceded by such a happy Easter Service yesterday and astonishing attendance numbers.
4. Heron landed, right on time for usual fishing, not long ago-
...and the usual swan and duck strops over &'s bread.😁
5. Happily id'd 2 very pleasing CS studio pottery mugs as rare Alan White prototypes of his dark smoky red volcanic glaze for Poole pottery, circa 1970. Truly lovely, great find with his personal AW mark only.

been a very busy Easter and realising I haven't posted since Wednesday at which point I was looking forward to a 5 day weekend. Congrats on the house sale and birthday greetings mhags, pooey frith but well done on park run and totally echo ampers' words beautiful picture ampers, I really must try to visit Cambridge this year before my closest friend there moves, as she threatens to do every year and one year it will come to pass!
In no particular order
1) the joy of singing - 6 practices and 6 services over holy week, I am done in! the last one we were joined by some students from Aberdeen and a wonderful soprano for the Easter Hymn
2) DrM's retirement - went to his talk '35 years' which is how long he has worked at the Uni - amazingly found out he has worked during that time with 3 people I have worked with but at different times - I guess Dundee is quite small then we went for a drink - I had to leave to go to choir practice then Maundy Thursday service (beautiful) then back for the end of the drinks :-)
3) 2 lunch time matches with DrM - we had toasties and coffee - first was a loss second was a win - we'll next be in Wednesday for Luton at Arsenal. (can't say that in my head without pictures of Eric Morecombe saying it)
4) farewell to our pastoral musician - one of his previous choral scholars takes up the reins next week so my mse pleasure is the power of music - gbf came to the last service and the send-off which was also lovely (and meant he could give me and mum a lift home lol)
5) starting my new role. New role I hear you say? I am as of today the interim Director for my Centre, my boss having stepped down end of last month as she drops to 0.5FTE. I am thrilledToday was a rest day so work starts in earnest tomorrow. I have a lot of plans and have a meeting with my Dean 15th April which is good as it gives me a couple of weeks to think out my direction more fully

Hello. Bedtime!Up early enough with doggy then back to bed and then woke at 9.50am…was horrified! Then friend phoned me and I’m like I just woke up 10 minutes ago…and she laughed and said she’d just woken at 9.45am…so we were a pair of lazy bones! Nice chatter.Went as far as supermarket. Got some more 15p veggies. And a RTC lasagna for Tuesdays tea.Rainy afternoon and so blooming cold after such a beautiful day yesterday.
All Hoovered and bathrooms cleaned and bedrooms tidied and kitchen cleaned…back to normal. Fingerprints cleaned off windows and doors!Ironed spare room bedding and remade.
Packed some boxes. I have so much stuff! Mostly stuff I do want to keep but have to be ruthless and honest about the different space I’m going to have.Had sourdough toast for tea…have been munching on birthday chocolate throughout the day! I’ve eaten all the ones I like ( a box of chocolates is wasted on me! ) which isn’t very many!Plumber came. But needs to come back tomorrow.Filled my hot water bottles!7 -
Well done on the new job, DD.

3) Bigger son came mid morning. He had been camping in the Lake District.
4) My brother came after lunch.
5) Our football team won 1-3 ! We are trying to avoid relegation. 3 matches to go...
6) Made wraps for tea and a shepherds pie for smaller son.
7) My ancient cat just fought and saw off a fox on the patio!7 -
Congratulations @Dundee Doll.
@Frith - Just act like no man is necessary to your well-being - and some might pop in to change your mind. But it isn't the end of the world, unless you are my younger sister who hasn't gone more than a month or two between husbands and boyfriends. Of course, the first two she could have done without but she didn't want to be alone - alone would have been preferable. Both of them cleaned her out financially and mentally. Third husband died of a brain aneurysm, but she now has boyfriend who looks like a keeper. Have patience - you don't want anything like her first two she had just because. I'm not a shining example having not been married at 76 - but I did get to travel a lot. But take your time, if it is meant to be, it will be.7 -
Congratulations DD.
1 Meal planned for the week ahead, it looks very healthy!
2 We’re recovering slowly but hopefully out the other side.
3 A lovely bath.
4 Got the front garden mowed and weeded.
5 Enjoying reading again, this time Tuesdays with Morrie.

DD hope first day of new job goes well !
