Hello.
Having an early night!Up early as usual even though it was a later night.
Went to beach town to meet SILs. Randomly met one of them coming out the hotel as I was going in…I was early as is my want! It was nice to be dressed a bit more fancy than I usually do!Lovely morning spent with them. Much to chatter about. Lovely food which they kindly treated me to. The dining room overlooks the sea.
Messages from DD1 who’s on her summer holidays!
Drive home and then hello doggy!I’ve spent the afternoon tidying up…after a week of two hairy labradors! Every room hoovered. Floors all washed and bathrooms are clean. Before a labrador grandson comes again tomorrow 😆
Had the log burner on, that was the last of my tonne bag of logs though I’ve another couple of fires worth left in the garage ( spiders may be there though! )
Watching more trashy Below Deck…it’s so bad it’s good! And bed with hot water bottles ( and Bellow Deck! )
a good day8 -
LaineyT having reached 60 last year I have decided it is the new 40!
Been awol as, although my hosts in Eastbourne zapped me onto wifi on my phone blowed if i could get my laptop connected so for last couple of days...
1) lunch in Purley with ex PhD student and his husband - very nice vegan lasagne, need to ask what the cheese was cos it was lish
2) then down to Eastbourne (the lovely lady at Victoria had sorted out the complications of my journey and of course, being 60 I used my senior rail card) where my friend from Masters days picked me up
3) Saturday we caught the bus into Eastbourne (£2 excellent) then to the Towner Art Gallery then the RNLI museum then a fabulous walk along the Downs and inland to the Tiger Inn in East Dean where we had an excellent pint and her husband picked us up in the car - we'd had dry weather till we were in in the Inn so very good day
4) Sunday church lunch the pier a bracing walk along the front then the station to get the train back to Victoria and DD2 and bf met me at Canada Water tube - again the rain magically held off till I was on the train
5) just had a lovely stir fry to celebrate the year of the dragon.

Evening all.
From where I am, 60 sounds so YOUNG!!! My 60's on the whole were a blast so you youngsters have so much to look forward to
Some pleasures:
1) Our new car is lovely, I did get pretty excited after all. Had a look and a test drive (hubby, not me) on Friday and did all the business stuff and we collect it tomorrow. Pretty big dent in the finances but we had planned for it so had to be done.
2) My new hairstyle is holding up nicely, just sort of falls into shape, the sign of a good cut, I suppose.
3) I've got about two thirds of the way through knitting the baby blanket - a bigger commitment than I thought it would be but it's looking good and I've got til the beginning of April to finish it as long as the baby's not early.
4) Grandson has got himself another part-time job after the disappointment of his last one falling through at the last minute. Good job as he has a holiday and driving lessons to pay for.
5) Delicious leftover Thai food from last week. It had been in the freezer and reheated beautifully, very tasty tea in front of some good telly.
Bed beckons. Hope you all had a good weekend, night night.7 -
For yesterday,
We had decided on a largish brunch and then a high tea food wise so salmon, scrambled egg and muffin eaten & enjoyed.
Caught up on all things Ambridge and then headed over to see my pony, missed her the day before! Long groom in the sunshine and then some work in the school followed by a walk down the road. Then on repeat with my friend’s horse.
Home and a bit of work in the garden, smiled to see tête-à-tête coming up in the beds,
Short snooze then a walk with small dog, evenings are really drawing out.
Grazed on our high tea all evening.

Ohhh puts the idea of a tour around Westminster Abbey on my to-do list, now to track down the offer.
1 Wow the pricing in the garden centres in Kent has literally tripled, a 5-pound campanula plant is now 15, so from one of the cheap shops I picked up two smaller see through containers with lids for £3, and I’ve planted up sweet peas, carnations, snap dragons, peppers and the usual cress is on the kitchen shelf. Which seems to be working ok, it may be a bit early for planting, but they are in a greenhouse and here we seem to take a lot longer for seeds to come along so literally have to start a month earlier.
2 I’ve food planned for the week; tonight is a chop with fresh pasta, admittedly the Rana version.
3 I’m writing again, properly, which I’m extraordinarily happy about.
4 Our friend who passed away, had 4 older ferrets which we have taken on, they are a lot older than our guys, but they’ve literally just pondered on in together, they are getting used to life indoors and the noises that come with. It makes you wonder if things do happen for a reason…..
5 Our numerous times repaired 1970s Kenwood chef has officially caved in, so we are scanning the bay and marketplace to see if we can replace it.
Our little fuzz but who had emergency surgery last week, is pondering around like nothing is wrong and enjoying extra attention, however he will need more done soon, and that will involve decisions based on what’s found, so we are enjoying him, and hoping for the best as he’s so young and looking healthy ironically.

3) cold but sunny when i arrived in dundee - stopped off at the office to do a bit more work (inadvertently panicking mum into thinking i'd missed the train, oops)
4) home by 6pm and a nice bowl of sausage casserole and a cuppa
5) and now i'm going to make a small cup of tea while i listen to the archers then i'm off to bedMrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

Quick pleasures for today (Monday). I really dislike typing from my phone but smaller son has the laptop!
1) Not the worst sleep. We thought the highly expensive scabies cream had worked. Not for long...
2) Another couple of hours digging old fence from the foot of the garden.
3) Went to M and S for a cup of tea.
4) MrU made spaghetti for tea.
5) Smaller son and I walked to Tesco. I had to report a gas leak, from where the road has been dug up for weeks.
6) Playing chess with MrU now.8 -
I wanna be in the room where it happens6
