& has pulled in on way back after an allsorts training night. Let's see what happens -
1. Just dropped post-training munch leftovers to Jimmy's Night Shelter. First time ever was treated with some suspicion by 2 newbies! Okay in the end.
2. New book is another Amor Towles - 'Code of Civility'. Going well.
3. Someone was ill, so midweek Communion became morning prayer - only 9 of us, with covid on the rise again. Still good.
4. A bright yellow butterfly flew onto fig tree this arvo, as & was going briefly indoors. Of course, no pic as mob. was back in Doblo, but there you go. Such is life. Now find it was a male brimstone:

5. Eventually found 2 hwbs for much younger friend, who needed them desperately for back pain relief. Ongoing for a fortnight now and nothing is helping. Fingers X'd for her and a restful night.CAP[UK]for FREE EXPERT DEBT &BUDGET HELP:

For yesterday,
Sunny morning and message from yard to ask if ok for girlie to go out without rug on, said yes of course and will deal with muddy consequences later!
A wander around the garden, noting all buds and bulbs, the birdsong and activity in the hedge, warm sunshine and a gentle breeze. Oh and small dog laying in the grass, sniffing the air. Something sluggish and slow in me felt like it was coming back to life.
At the yard and my girlie…..wasn’t light grey anymore! But she’d obviously had a good time and we have a hot wash!
Settled her in then helped pal who was clipping her mare, always helps if someone lifts legs etc to get into the small creases.
Home to pick up small dog and off to the V E T S, not just monthly injection but annual jabs too, all done quickly and treats for afterwards. She rides shotgun next to me as I can turn off air-bag and she likes to see where we are going, my little co-pilot.8 -
Good afternoon. Nearly teatime! Been a lovely mild sunny day
Recently
Got a new tv aerial. We can now watch tv even if it's windy or raining! Old one was 20 years old so not too bad I suppose. Worked out at £6 per year. Perhaps we should start saving 50p per month towards the next one.
Got four pretty tea plates from the charity shop. 50p each. Very dainty and a pattern of rosebuds. Much better for a slice of cake than our somewhat chunky ones.
Put on a thinner coat and found a Father Christmas ornament in the pocket. No, I don't know either!
The lights on timers are now coming on too early as the evenings get lighter. I love it when I have to reset them.
And the tete-a-tete daffodils are opening, the Christmas roses are wonderful and the magnolia buds are thinking of opening soon. I love spring.
Happy teatime everyone

I thought I was going to have to replace my bath taps as I am too used to controlling them with my feet, but the new square taps didn't seem to work for that. However, I've found that if I use both feet on each side of the tap, I can do it. So: money saved.6

Hello.A night with a sicky doggy! Sigh! So he’s been a bit subdued today and seems to have a slight limp…just to throw into the mix. Hopefully can avoid vet over the weekend.
The boy wonder called this morning. So chatted to him for 1 hour and 1 minute! Which I think must be an all time phone record! He’s never been a phone chatterer…would chatter away in person but not so much on the phone. He told me he’d rescued a wombat baby ( just googled and also known as a Joey) the other week. The mum had been knocked down in the middle of the road so he’d got out the car to move it off the road ( country Victoria) and the Joey was trying to climb in her pouch. So he lifted it in to his car and took it to a wildlife rescue centre. And I felt like a very proud mum! Me: were you talking to it? Did you name it? Him: eh no!Went as far as supermarket to get chicken for sicky dog. So he didn’t get fed till midday. So far it’s stayed down.Pup dropped off but he’s spent most of his visit upstairs!Doggy got a new bandana from his big sister in Australia who makes them…the perfect time to get one when you’re feeling rotten!Watched One Day in just about one day!Seven years ago today my husband was taken into hospice care. I was reading something today about ‘grief maths’ when you count like days/months etc and then you should stop as it doesn’t change anything. And I just thought you do you to the writer. What do you do when you’re by nature a counter and a dates person? I remember the birthdays of folk I was at primary with 50 years ago! And what do you do when it literally feels like 7 minutes? Was saying to son that I’ll be eighty in the time again that it was from my 30th birthday till now that’s just flown past ( he's kind of approaching 30) and just how quickly it’s gone.Had RTC chicken Kyiv for tea with mashed potatoes and peas and sweetcorn.10 -
Many hugs Mhags
Glad the vet went well LaineyT
1 A bit of an unplanned lay in.
2 After a bit of to and fro, our vet referral has been accepted but he can’t get in for 10 days, he’s still on antibiotics and seemingly healthy and play fighting with t, his brother as I type, so here’s hoping glad there’s been progress.
3 Fake away fish and chips.
4 I took everything out of the kitchen cupboards, grouped them and popped them back in again, I apparently never buy 1 of anything.
5 Garden seeds coming along, however much cussing after I found 5 pots of sweet peas eaten by blumin mouse, so have to order some sonic deterrent, today I planted peppers and experiment planting a couple of tomato seeds.

and you do you mhags your husband sounded fabulous from what you shared I remember your journey well and if you want to count / celebrate / sob on this thread that's what we're here for
1) teaching on city campus - was absolutely fabulous - the students presented their ethical dilemmas as a formative - can't wait till the essays come in
2) we finished early and they didn't hang around for lunch - i just happened to have an empty Tupperware so took the left over chopped fruit yum (and made sure other students knew about the sarnies and cake)
3) pulled something in my back boo - the mse pleasure is that it makes me realise normally my back feels fine
4) colleague invited me to hers for a drink or two - we had a lovely chat (i had taken a couple of paracetamol for the back but walked gingerly)
5) got to the bus stop same time as the #22 - usually i'd walk as not very far but the back needs tlc - home for shepherd's pie (thanks mum) and now in bed listening to the archers. i will doubtless then fall asleep to the news quiz. night all xxxMrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

Evening all.
Today is your personal anniversary, mhags, nobody can take that from you and it's yours to remember in whatever way is right for you. Your husband must have been a remarkable man to have been so thoroughly loved by you.
Not posted very much this week, some very worrying news about a close relative has somewhat taken the shine off the week. There have been pleasures though, albeit celebrated with a heavy heart:
1) Couple of days out with the little chappie, he is a total joy and comfort.
2) Some spring sunshine warm on our faces.
3) A little patch of snowdrops under the trees, fragile and beautiful.
4) Close family - we celebrate the good and pull together in the bad, we are all in it together.
5) Home - a port in the storm and a safe retreat at the end of the day.
Over half way through February already, the month is flying by. Enjoy your weekend.10 -
Can only reiterate wise words of others Mhags as you find your own path, we are here support to you on your way.
Hope your back feels better soon DD
Thinking of you Highdays
For yesterday,
Bit of car maintenance, well in so much that I topped up the oil and screen wash in the mini! Then topped up with petrol too.
Some admin work on pensions and then some gentle play in the garden for small dog, the sun had come out by this point and it was pleasantly warm in the sheltered spots.
Listened to Ben Duckett’s wonderful innings.
With my horse, the paddocks are so wet & muddy and she was standing by the gate waiting to come in, she had a bit of time with her hay net then we did some work over poles. Gave my pal’s mare her daily meds ( she’s on the same as mine ) and enjoyed some quiet time with my girlie.
Home and Capt S had finished so caught up on our days, made a cauliflower & paneer curry for tea then watched some of the old TOTP’s that were being broadcasted as tribute to Steve Wright.
