Hello! Just lost my iPad…frantically looking everywhere for it…even in the fridge and my larder cupboards! Phoned DD2 to say how do I find it! Anyway it’s been beeping away telling me where it is …had fallen down the back of the sofa in the lounge…so when I was up with the doggy at 4am I’ve obviously sat it there then cuddled up on the sofa with the dog at this time. Anyway thankfully it’s found and I wasn’t really losing my mind which I thought I was!So I was up super early with a doggy who wanted out…and then he was told he was far too early for his breakfast so we cuddled up together and dozed till 8am! Was dry at 4am and then wet by 8am.
Sold a coat ( which I had loved but do not wear and couldn’t tell you the last time when I wore it ( probably in Melbourne) so passing it on to someone else who can also love it!Walked up to local shop to post it off.And was just home and sold a sweatshirt…not for much but I’d bought it in a charity shop anyway and I think wore it once. Drove up to the shop this time as it was raining. And dropped a bag of jackets/gilets in the charity bin at supermarket by which time it was absolutely pouring so I’m glad I was in the car. Then home and put a wicker shoe doodah (that my friend had given me a few months ago) on FB marketplace for free. So that was picked up within half an hour of putting it on. So that was good and the girl that picked it up was sooooo chatty! We stood in the rain blethering for ages! And the dog hasn’t vomited but has been very snuggly.8 -
the dogs woke at 6:22 - normal service is resumed, oh well knew the lie-ins wouldn't last for ever, but boys it's Saturday my one lie-in day!!! however lots of mse pleasures

2) hair cut - although back not better not worse - had a great catch-up with the lovely lewis
3) called in at work (I have a key) so i could heat up my lunch. i'd also left some milk there wednesday which meant i got a cuppa, indeed two, the second I took with me to...
4) theatre with gbf - oh what a lovely war, matinee, very very good, 60th anniversary tour
5) gbf had car so lift home and i gave him his belated valentine's present.
and now i'm in bed so the boys will doubtless wake even earlier tomorrow. it's a bit chilly but i have a pyjama top over my nightie so i can read my bookMrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

For yesterday,
Bit of a lie-in and read my book.
Made a loaf and a couple of burger rolls for tea, sorted out some clothes for re-homing and had a general tidy around.
Parcel came in the post, really cute spring wreath to hang in hearth, not really mse but bought using survey earnings.
Over to the yard, negotiated mud bath and got my girl in, washed down and settled into her stable. Chat with friends.
Listening to footie on the way home and we won 4-0 away from home.
Walk with beloved and small dog then cooked steak burgers to go in rolls. A few games of Yahtzee before testing brains with 1% club, we didn’t get the final question so no jackpot for us!

1 Found a new to is series to watch.
2 Changed the meal plan around to suit us.
3 Spent some decent time with the ferrets.
4 Planted some more seeds up and popped ultra sonic things in the green house hoping to deter what has taken a fancy to the sweet pea seeds.
5 I made an absolute abomination of a chilli, however it was a hot bowl of food, and leftovers going into tomorrows lunch soup.

Shambles in, distracted by RL againAmpersand - Christmas crackers to Spain. <Baffled pause, then shrug - why not?! I take packs of paper napkins to mum.> HWB is wonderful for pain (and you can stash ice cubes therein too if needed - less meltwater dribbling.)mhagster - soaking filthy pup - ah, your St.V treat.. You've succumbed to Below Deck?! (And why not?!) Son chatting?! "it doesn't change anything" maybe not, but whatever helps, you stick with. Awed at you rehoming coats in the rain!VJsmum - thought you'd endeavoured to escape academe, & the marking? (US 'chocolate' is plain false labelling.)Frith - blimey oh your immune system is taking a workout. Hoping neurobod helpful. All this scabies & no dermatologist yet? Will not ask who is winning at chess, as it really is all about the game. Digging to remove old fenceposts - in this weather? Water is heavy!Highdays - not just the baby blanket but a little teddy to go with: there's the bonus touch! All strength with close relative.DundeeDoll - awed that fruit includes melon! Ergle doing workouts plural <I Must try harder> Yowch pulled back - Epsom salt bath soak & HWB? Reading in the bath - deffo a pleasure!LaineyT - unexpected deer are a treat. Aw turning off airbag for co-pilot. Preventive maintenance is still maintenance. Steakburger sounds wonderful.Purple kitten - welcome Hershey & so much love & luck to all your fuzzy household. Playfighting whilst on antibiotics - you're doing Brilliantly.Happycas - I have TV aerial envy. Ah well. Hurrah tetes-a-tete!RHemmings - you trigger Flanders & Swann happy flashbacks "It's started running hot, let's have another Hour or More!"OS pleasure recentlyGetting a definite buzz from repairing mum’s desk clock. The wood has splintered, the tiny screws are only a little bigger than those holding glasses together, as clocks go it was butchered years ago - but just a bit of TLC with glue, & polish with olive oil & vinegar & it’s telling the time & looking fine, even if I know it’s partly held together with masking tape.Mum's house is full of photos of dead people, but that’s fine as we know and can talk about who & when & where. Even if it a CADW castle in Wales somewhere & as for the year? <cheerful shrug, the lads were in secondary, so that gives a three year window>Argh the vocabulary quiz from mum! What is “blitzkrieg” (and her a war baby) and “oblast” (administrative division, sort of like our County) - then “Kim Jong Un” (dear gods what is she reading? Still, at least it isn’t about Trump (yet). Some of those terms were very difficult for a daughter to explain to her mother.) The Guardian Weekly - phew.Youngest has left his coat behind but is fairly sure there’s nothing vital in the pockets. All these new experiences - buying a wine box, refuelling a car, cooking for six two of whom are complete strangers - to forget a coat is not massive! [It was in the boot, not shoved onto the back seat as usual!]Own home, own heating, dehumidifier murmuring, laundry going, cupboards resupplied (shops en route back), hurrah! Copy of the Divan of Hafiz en route - I’ve read some snippets in translation that have me definitely wanting more. Finally acted on! [It’s here! I may be some time wandering through his writings.] {Months, possibly}Aw medic receptionist wholly understanding my MMR concern but wanting the lads' verbal OK so I phoned them on as speakerphone live & Neither knew what an MMR was (I explained), but agreed. Receptionist managing not to chuckle as she delivered double peace of mind.Ah the irony of Leonard Cohen’s “dance me to the end of love” (and the flickering footed tango video) as I fell out of the bathtub twisting my ankle last night. Nothing broken but owch & while I love the song, the video is getting a Wry smile.Sumira Ahmed on ancient Persia & watching her enjoy an abandoned city preserved by dry desert air. Not so good for wood, but the gendered door knockers still survive. A feature that makes me smile - blimey, blokes answer doors? (Mine need unplugging from their headsets first…) An upbringing of chivalry & heroism seems no bad thing, even if the real world doesn’t work quite like that.Intrigued by the Art Detectives on BBC4. I love it when they use logic, fact, date analysis etc to give “unknown” paintings their proper accreditation.Tested my ankle driving to collect meds - not perfect but functional. Something of a relief!Preparing a session on report writing (the really unglamorous bit of the job) and finding satisfaction in putting a coherent useful collection of ideas together.Scouts! So full of life, & sharing the bounce. Managed to slide a “check your measles status” line in - most are sure they’re ok but a few aren’t certain. Can’t hurt to check.Journeyed through rain not snow & eyeing tomorrow carefully - will I be driving on ice or just more water? [Water, phew.]“Penguin org*sm” - never expected That on a report writing course. Google no help, seems it’s about biting two corners off a penguin biscuit & drinking coffee through it…Chuckling at Midsomer & a "Retox menu" of beer, steak & chips at a pub down from a spa. All of which is identified by his loving wife in seconds. I do love that relationship!Oh gods my life via Amazon has gone sideways again - mouth guard for sis’ tae kwon do…. Someday someone will look & wonder & I can’t leave myself a note.Ah the simple pleasure of a complete B movie, good vs bad. OK the mission impossible stuff has serious A movie budget & thus bigger bangs & sharper clothes but the morality tale with big bangs is just Fun!Teasing youngest on posing by a wall - he’d got the wrist right to suggest spiderweb clinging but not the elevated knee… Did I spend too long gawking at comics at any time?!It’s a two hot water bottle night. One at my toes & clearly my son thinks my neck is cold as that’s where he left the second bottle. (I’m spoiled rotten.)Family tree climbing & the ticklish wording that recognises the love & work of the mother but also names her successor as the reminder of the bloke to take his pills, use a laundry basket & so forth. Or doesn’t.Teapot in the office has another fan. That it has a little teacosy (short scarf held with a rubber band) adds to its appeal to such as croon!Safety boots for work approved (not all bookkeeping checks happen in offices) - truly the Saint is smiling at me. [Arrived, bulky but comfortable, guided through confirming safe arrival...]Late start late finish, so the joy of home & doffing Social Trousers to don antisocial trousers!Good to hear Dame Judi lay down sonnet 116 like a challenge. And reflective reminder, but also a challenge to every journalist & observer that age has not withered her talent.Read colleague on contractors.: “Fate’s fiendish henchfolk, cunningly disguised as human beings. Of course they do not appear when expected. They’re not snowdrops.” Amused by this bracing reassurance.Sketched out my own death notice, lest the lads need help. Colleague grinned at “simple wants, data & blood”… I’d better deliver on the decluttering downsizing. The weather is taunting me, offering a possible three hour rain free window to hang out washed linen. I may accept, but set up the stepladder & dehumidifier Anyway. [Ah, plans are to be overridden by events, or sleep.]Potted on Lily of the valley rootlings. It’ll be a while before I can cut home grown posies but what the lads have no idea of harms noone!Found a jar of crystallised ginger & have had to hide it from myself! Yum-nibble-yum…Family tree climbing & finding one relative who I am awed by. The family had a bad year, mum died in a car accident father shortly alongside & husband’s brother (married but childless) took on all five children.Poor youngest! Up against the new ninja thing, trying to cook a risotto (for the first time) & finding midway we have no arborio rice. Which I had said to check for first, but he was tired stressed & peeved anyway poor coot. So we’re having something heat & eat from the oven. Lorne sausage, yum!“Age perfect rosy glow”?! (Ad for face cream) It’ll clash with my purple something dreadful. Besides I’m fundamentally yellow, not pink.Driving homeowner off to station, admiring the way the kitchen has become “bachelor” - recycling bin side loaded with bottles & impressive array of herbs & spices like a shanty town beside his ninja thing. He’s WhatsApped me where he’ll be staying (in case he looses phone coverage) & I’ve WhatsApped my vocab basic research (yes, no, please, thankyou, & excuse me) in two languages to him likewise… Ah. The photo holding fridge magnets he snaffled are seen in place, lovely family snaps including father & brother casually just part of the everyday. So proud of him that they they are there with an easy-going inevitability. He’s got the family snap I think of as “meleé” framed up large for the front room too - three brothers at full pelt armed and laughing with their father watching & encouraging.Health strength love & courage to all as have need & robust waterproofs in reach!7

Timing it right as always to follow on behind a DFV post!My day is most modest in comparison 😆
Well the most up and down kind of night with a very unsettled dog…phoning vets in the morning.Early schmearly.Sold another coat. One that I had loved and had kept but again haven’t worn probably since an evening at the theatre in Melbourne seven years ago ( was my first night out since husband had died …random fact!) and I’d bought it in 2004 ( was a beautiful velvet coat…timeless in style but unworn so I’m glad it’s going to someone who will hopefully cherish it also.So walked up to shop, usually takes me 15/20 minutes to walk…today I was an hour as I kept meeting people I knew and chattering! Was so mild today, was most pleasant.
And home. And had to quickly start making Sunday lunch as I’d chattered for too long! Made a very nice cottage pie, with roast parsnips, Yorkshire pudding and peas and sweetcorn and carrots. And very nice it was too. DD2 and The Chap joined me.Hoovered and washed floors.Watched some more trashy telly 😆
Had heating in for an hour this evening. Gave DD2 a hot water bottle earlier as she was cold but I wasn’t putting the heating on then!Friend just off the phone.Going to watch CTM now. Seems I’m not! BAFTA was on instead. Oh well! And seven years ago today we celebrated our silver wedding anniversary six months earlier and it really was a day most joyful. So I have lovely memories of that day and enjoyed looking through my photos.Have asked the doggy nicely if we can please have a nights sleep tonight! All night!6 -
For yesterday,
Woke up to lashing rain, small dog ran outside to quickly do her business and run back in again to the warmth of her bed, Mum took the hint and didn’t insist on walk as well.
Usual Sunday morning of bacon butties and catching up on things Ambridge.
Long bath and read my book.
Roast chicken dinner, by the time that had gone down the rain had stopped and the sun had come out so we all went out for a walk, ground very spongy under our feet but good to see so much blossom out in the hedges.
Downloaded and listened to JAM.6 -
Morning everyone. It’s my birthday 🎂 today and my twin sister’s obviously! So I thought I’d pop in and say hello and wish everyone well. I’m still reading along but not felt like posting due to to stressing over dental work, health worries and son worries!
but this is about pleasures!
So …. Beautiful flowers 🌹 for Valentine’s Day and birthday. Lots of my favourite tête-à-tête a tete peeking up in pots and the garden. Lovely roast chicken dinner last night. Some thoughtful little gifts. Takeaway tonight and may be a glass of 🥂 or 🍷. Some birthday cake while reading on here later.
Have a great day everyone 😊5
