Hello. Another beautiful spring day here.
Lost a long post this morning but was entirely my fault. Pressed the wrong button. So went off and sulked for a while but back in a better frame of mind now.
Frith - how great that your son has decided Mr U is someone he can talk to.
Paulie - belated birthday wishes. I hope your day went as well as planned and that you were able to forget your worries for a while.
Topsy - ooh, a date!. Tell us more!
Yoga yesterday was good. A new routine with lots of balancing. Challenging but enjoyable too.
DGC came for tea. First time in ages. It was great to spend time with them but tiring too, especially for DH. I think next time we'll let McD cater.
Found a new ( to me) Elly Griffiths/ Ruth Galloway book in the little free book nook in the outlet mall. A nice surprise and will return it once read, probably with a few extras.
Rapidly running out of things to watch on tv. There's only so many times you can watch reruns of Vera and Morse! Still, better weather on the horizon and we never watch as much in summer.
Might do a bit of gardening now. Unfortunately the green bin is very full and no collections until March. Perhaps I'll just admire all the things bursting into life!
Happy afternoon everyone

Thank you for all your lovely birthday 🎂 wishes. I had a lovely low key day, starting with a bacon roll brunch in the sun at the park with friend, then rehab exercise class, then tea and cake, then takeaway shish kebab, then chocolate mini eggs later 😊. Lunch out today with old friend (first HT I worked with). More tea and cake this afternoon and then a lush chicken sandwich with leftover chicken from last nights kebab and free low gi granary bread from Lidl.
Have a great evening everyone 😊8 -
Hello. Bedtime with my hot water bottles! It’s a bit chilly outside but a star filled sky and shiny moon.
Early start.Dozed off and then woken by DD2 calling at 7.15am to tell me the revised plans for my morning!Picked up balloons and party stuff that friend can reuse. Nice chat with the lady giving them away.Met old work friend as I was leaving so had a quick chat with her.Supermarket next for stuff for tea. Got a few things RTC which is always good.
Home and hello doggies and a daughter.
Then had to drop of Vinted stuff at further away shop, so drove there. Then had a further sale and walked up to local shop. Friends husband was walking the dog that way so walked with him on the way up and then met someone else on the way back…I tell you it’s never the quick walk I think it will be! And then was literally back in and sold something else so will have to go back up tomorrow! How’s your day I asked DD1…I’ve just written you a postcard all about it. Can you wait 2 weeks to find out!More clearing of the unworn stuff and on Vinted! Much of my stuff is from charity shops or from sales. Very rarely do I pay anything full price. But it’s nice to be able to try and sell it and rebuy else.Made fajitas for Tuesday tea. Wraps from freezer. Chicken from the dogs supply! RTC salad. And wee potato wedges done in the airfryer. Chatter and laughter and RTC chocolate cake for pud. Friend went home with a big slice of cake
Painted fireplace looked fine in the light of day so that’s a tick on the ginormous list of things to do!Was heavy rain this afternoon then brightened up. Lots of lovely bird song on my walk..Hope your date goes well TT9 -
A belated Happy Birthday Paulie
1 Both of us under the weather with a bit of a bug, the pleasure being we can take it easy and not let anyone down.
2 Had to take Diam to the vets after a vast abscess closed her eye, she’s now on eyedrops, painkillers and antibiotics.
3 I ended up cleaning the kitchen, as once I saw it I couldn’t unsee it, so started at the top of the units where fly’s had marked, washed the units, wiped down the cupboards, cleaned out the oven, set it to clean and cleaned the trays etc. muttering about not having animals if you want a clean house, that said Freddo and Diam were also determined to help wondering why I had lost the plot crawling around cleaning cupboards, I was also thinking the same…
4 I pre made a HM lasagne, with leftover veg, it made an easy meal when needed.

Quick pleasures for today (Tuesday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Took my friend to the jobcentre then to get a postal order and to send off for his driving licence. We were both peeved to realised we had forgotten to include his ID card before posting...
3) MrU went to the barbers then met me in M and S.
4) We took the fitted wardrobe down and removed more wallpaper in smaller son's room.
5) Football for smaller son and I. A loss tonight.
6) Playing chess now.9 -
How exciting Topsy
1) stir fry for breakfast due to ys stirfry veg bargain I couldn't resist - yum
2) lunch with friend who is retiring - i gave her an archers book ampers cos she is also a huge fan - she was thrilled and it was from a CS so very mse. lunch was our fave cafe and lish
3) needed to write first draft of a policy document - was so 'in the zone' didn't notice the rain or the night come in - suddenly it was 5:50 and time to heat up the hm chilli i'd thoughtfully packed
4) then made my flask of coffee and headed for my evening class - first of 6 weeks on the solar system. i had no idea planets were so fascinating
5) then off to the pub for 2nd half of the footie, lovely chat with DrM (who knows all about planets) and the students' ceilidh music.
and now in bed, archers listened to (poor Jolene) and draft document sent to colleague. she's going to share it with the students tomorrow as an activity for governance and policy - she gets an authentic formative activity, the students get to see development of policy for real and I get student feedback. Osps -1. Violets out everywhere down back. Vast blossom veils all through Cherry Hinton and everywhere around and beyond.2. Another penny found on ground - that's one every day since Friday, but &'s Nana's old 'all the day you'll have good luck' saying is major jest today.3. Have pulled over, adjacent connectivity for doing osps and downing free emporium cappuccino, after totally wasted day. Much diesel burnt and nil objectives achieved, either this morning, or afternoon or evening. Final one, tonight's journey, over 20 extra miles to BStE rugby ground, for Cambridge(inc.4 Peacocks)vs Suffolk, to find only darkness and blank looks. Weather postponement, unbeknownst to &. Yes, it's definitely been one of those days, especially as then back too late for original invitation to Ellgiah Field, that Army vs Western Trinity match now surely over. Such is Life.4. Oldest NZ school friend recovering from Monday op. Sent pic of the bones removed from her hand! Droll black humour between her and surgeon.😁5. Muntjacs, harriers and foxes in close range on all journeys today.#Haggis and Mhags, wishing you both settled recovery nights and a few calm days.Frith, echoing happycas's observation re: C and Mr U. So good, also meaning shared and lightened times for you too? Household Frith seems transformed these days,😁👌👏.CAP[UK]for FREE EXPERT DEBT &BUDGET HELP:

Recent pleasures:
1) Blossom, camellias and spring flowers everywhere.
2) Some definite warmth in the sun and the days are lengthening.
3) Pottering and happy to be at home.
4) Calm, sensible son keeping me grounded.
5) Family all pulling together as always.
Off to bed now, sleep well all.8 -
Pleasures for today (Thursday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) MrU and I took a fitted cupboard down in smaller son's room and removed the rest of the wallpaper.
3) We went to Lidl but someone had vandalised their electricity supply so they had had to throw all the fresh food (in the fridges) out. They were having a Mediterranean week in the middle aisles so that was handy for us.
4) Also popped to B and Q for more filler.
5) Back home and smaller son helped with filling 10 million hairline cracks in the walls of his room.
6) Went to the pub. The first we tried (Waggon and Horses, in case I look back on this) decided they were shut when we arrived - at 9.15. We went to the normal one after that. We also had a drive round a new village that is being built - 600 houses.
7) We have played chess and are still listening to songs on YouTube.8
