1. Still at Addenbrookes after latest oncology haemotology follow-up. Osp is having connectivity to write here. The Plusnet thing isn't working unfortunately. No time to chase it today.
2. Using buses to reach botanical gardens 3 times this week, while Doblo has more of a complete fix. Yesterday's special pleasure was putting hand in deep, dark, tepid Tropical Glasshouses pool, then seeing and feeling tiny tadpoles nibbling at my fingers.
3. Happy Birthday sung to & by a couple of hundred at rugby club lunch on Saturday. Beautiful flowers, including gorgeous scented freesias given....and still & coshed them for raffle......pure evil😁. £800 raised, which was amazing. Everyone is so kind.
🦚🏉
4. RTC emporium chicken turned into lovely slow cooker casserole, using new olive oil from oldest northern hemisphere uni friend's daughter's finca!
5. Reading Henry Marsh's 'Admissions', among many 50p books over last weeks and saw brain tumour notice during today's appointment. Another remarkable surgeon, as was sir Roy Yorke Calne, RIP, closely connected with,🦚🏉.

lovely photos ampers I remember chasing after my eldest when she was a toddler heading for that fountain!
It's been a very busy 2 days - we ran three 4 hour pre-conference workshops (today started at 8am ug) then the open ceremony tonight.
1) meeting old friends, some colleagues, some alumni, some met at other conferences (e.g. Pakistan)
2) visiting the supermarket - I have bought chocolates for the office and coffee and cloves for mum - always good to get that out the way
3) the beautiful dancing from the students at the opening ceremony
4) deciding i was going to walk the stairs to the buffet - it was on floor 14 and each floor had 2 flights of 12 steps :-)
5) the fruit - my colleague had bought some lychees, and the bananas are very yummy

Belated birthday wishes to ampersand.
Realised I’d left my iPad downstairs last night once I got into bed and thought nah…it can just stay there so never posted yesterday. For Wednesday.Up early with doggy. Heavy frost.Went to castle. It’s been closed over Christmas and NY. So just reopened on Monday. Of course we have to sit outside so it was a very quick bacon roll as it was -7o! But what a lovely morning, bright blue sky and I parked in the sun so I didn’t refreeze!Drove straight in to town to a wool shop to get a bit of tartan ribbon . Lady kindly sold me just half a metre as that’s all I needed. Think it would normally be by the metre.Home…hello puppy? Er, no pup! He’d literally just been picked up by the new dog walker just a minute before. They were driving out the street as I was driving in. Hag and I were looking all over the house for him before I worked out what had happened! Anyway he was away for almost 3 hours. And was so exhausted when he came back!Walked to small shop to drop off a parcel for DD2 and walked the very long way home. Passed by old work and had a chat with old boss. And home…did some work stuff.DD2 wasn’t here till 7.30pm so she chattered for a bit then left. Finished work stuff and headed to bed. This morning we were out and about at 4.30am and had a very peaceful walk…too early for even the birds! Ground was lovely and crunchy.Back home, set alarm and dozed off again. Had a very weird dream. Then it was get ready for work. I was conducting a service today which went very well and I’ve had such beautiful feedback from it. I drove down saying to myself I CAN do this then drove home feeling happy that I actually did it! And I’m doing it! And although very cold and took ages to defrost car it was such a beautiful drive. Normally I go and it’s been lashing with rain.
Request was for bright colours or tartan. So I wore my new to me charity shop cardigan and had folded my tartan ribbon in a bow and placed a little wooden red heart brooch that had been my mums in the middle.
And hello doggy…after I’d stopped at supermarket for self congratulatory chocolate and daffodils!Phoned sister.Fire on.Friend texted was I in and could she pop round. So we had a lovely afternoon sitting in front of the fire chatting. It started to snow which was pretty to look at…was oh it’s snowing ( one or two flakes) to oh…it’s snowing!Have another service booked so called the family to arrange an appointment with them. And for tea I had leftover lasagna, mashed potatoes, red cabbage, broccoli ( which I’m actually going off so may stop buying for a while) carrots and the very last of the 15p sprouts! They were magnificent! And then I thought I’m going to bed!8 -
Pleasures for today (Thursday)
1) Not a bad sleep
2) Big lawyer meeting for MrU. It went OK.
3) Quick whizz round Tesco.
4) Made stew for tea - lamb, butternut squash and prunes. We had that with bulgur wheat.
5) Our friend was on Sky News! His interview was retweeted by Carol Vorderman so he is now famous! He's the smiley chap at the end of the interview. We also know the other chap, but not very well.

6) Smaller son and I just had a chilly walk to Tesco.5 -
Belated happy birthday wishes Ampersand, glad that you were suitably spoilt by the club 💐
For yesterday,
Cold cold cold, beloved defrosted my car when he did his bless him.
I wore my hat that lovely friend knitted for my Christmas present to go shopping and lady in emporium admired it.
Heated up some sausage rolls and took them out to the two chaps working on nearby building as they looked frozen, gratefully received.
Paddocks are rutted & frozen so girlie having a duvet day, took her for a walk in-hand and we stood in the warm sunshine for a bit, her head got lower & lower as I leaned into her steady, solid side and counted all my blessings.
Monthly vets trip for small dog and he is pleased with her so medication dropped lower once again. Home and we had baked spuds for tea as easiest option.

Hello. Bedtime.Long story cut short was woken by a noise at 3.50am, saw it was snowing, heard more noise…was some youths (4 teenagers I’d say…and I’d also say up to no good to be prowling about at that time…they were throwing snowballs at houses so they weren’t expecting me to fling open a window and shout at them! They ran off. Anyway wide awake so dog and I went a lovely snowy walk at 4am. Posted a letter to DD1. Hag was like Scooby Doo sniffy the ratbags footprints. They’d headed off through the next estate…I was more annoyed that they’d spoiled the lovely snow!So day started earlier than usual but what a lovely way to start with a walk in the snow.Day off…no worky stuff, other than an email to say I’d been paid which was nice.Popped to supermarket…the joy of just jumping in the car and not having to defrost or demist! Just a quick swipe at the remaining snow and off I went.
And home. Pup dropped off.Started a book and I’m almost finished. Second book in 3 days. And the snow and ice is all away. The heating is switched right off as not to get too cold tonight but wind and rain forecast.Doggy nonsense when pup was getting collected. Think we had two over excited dogs! Was funny.5 -
For yesterday.
Slightly less cold, but only slightly!
Errands in the morning which included picking up two of my horse’s rugs which had been cleaned and popping into the GC for more bird seed as they are really going through it at the moment. They all sit in the apple tree watching me as I fill up the feeders and scatter on the floor then whoosh of tiny wings as I turn away to come in.
Not exactly OS but a parcel in the post, witchy mug and cork coasters picked up in the EB sale.
At the yard, worked girlie in the lunge pen and despite two horses kicking off in the turnout pens plus another charging around the school she was impeccable behaved, will be getting back on soon. Tucked her back in stable with hay then enjoyed a tea & cake in the kitchen, love cake Fridays at the yard.
Glass of wine and an evening snuggled under sofa blankets catching up on programmes with beloved.6 -
