Goodness Frith and well done DS
Many thanks for your wishes for my safe arrival. Which indeed I did. A bit of turbulence a couple of times and a slightly bumpy entry to Edinburgh but we arrived safely and we arrived at the right airport!
1) We left SL 20 mins earlier than the 4:45am advertised hooray and landed 40 mins early in Doha so no issues at all with getting connecting flight.
2) managed to sleep quite a bit on the flights and watch 2 films on 2nd flight - My happy ending (beautiful and poignant film about 4 women bonding over chemo) and Blended (funny film about 2 single parents) - both had stellar casts and excellent writing
3) Monday was home, soup and chat with mum, 2 hours sleep, loooong soak in the bath, supper then mennies for Leicester game with DrM.
4) The boys let me sleep!!! they didn't wake till 9 (unheard of, usually 5ish) - DM's birthday, nice lunch in St Andrews then fascinating talk about the Tay Bridge Disaster
5) Mum's legendary shepherd's pie for supper then another great talk, this time first of four on series called 'Watchers of the Skies', we've got up to the Greeks. Joined the lads for the 2nd half of the Chelsea Middlesborough game, DrM said we should get the bus rather than walk cos of the weather, bus cancelled so we ended up walking after all.
Normal service with the boys' early alarm restored this morning but lovely they let me sleep yesterdayMrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

Pleasures for today (Wednesday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Filled holes (again) in the kitchen and the dining room ceiling this morning. Filler dried by this afternoon.
3) Went to Ikea with smaller son so he could buy a lamp.
4) Filled in more interminable paperwork for MrU and have emailed it away.
5) MrU has painted the kitchen ceiling possibly 4 times and I hope to do a coat on the walls after dinner.
6) LO shepherds pie and bulgur wheat plus a lovely Ikea pizza for tea just now.
7) A podcast to listen to later.5 -

I have slept in! Was a bit wide awake through the night but oooft this is a late start by my standards!Anyway. Wednesday pleasures
Up early ( which is my norm 😆)
Looked out the back window to see what the wind had done. Furniture strewn across the garden and the big tree in the garden behind right down. Half of it was down on Monday morning and now the rest down. It’s a shame. It’s about 24 years old and I liked watching the birds in it.Pup dropped off…hello boy your granny is off out!Down to midway garden centre to meet with niece.Home. Hello my boy dog as the pup had been picked up by his doggy walker.Hoovered. Discovered at least 3 other small dogs that could be made from the fur brushed off my one dog!Friend and daughter popped in.
Then it was time to head off to house view. Sigh…I think there will be lots of deep sighing! So I walked as it was within walking distance and DD2 was driving g from her work. And coincidentally just happened to meet her at the end of my mums street. So hopped in the car for the drive 2 streets away! First of all checking it was her car I was hopping in to!Now if I was selling a house I would perhaps ensure there’s a lightbulb in the living room and kitchen that the viewer might see better, walking round with our phone torches on wasn’t really conducive! This one only ticked on the driveway and garden ( great garden) wants for a house.Home! Our first flat absolutely wasn’t perfect …in fact none of our houses have been perfect and we did them up as and when we could afford. And we could always see past how they were initially presented but oooft at what we’ve seen already and the prices being asked!Anyway we get the next ones home report today…onwards.7 -
Keeping everything crossed for DS VJSMUM and hope you feel better soon.
For yesterday,
Gave my short yard boots a little love & attention, the dubbin worked wonders and they look like new again.
Met a friend for coffee and a catch up.
Worked my girlie in the lunge pen and she was so good for me, then had a little play with a a plastic ball that my friend had for her horse, only trouble was my lass thought it was her treat ball and looked so disappointed when she rolled it around only for no tasty treats to drop out. She looked at me as if to say Mum, it’s broken!
Laughing at the R2 teatime show on the way home.
Tasty tea, chicken schnitzel with cauliflower cheese.7 -
Pleasures for today (Thursday)
1) Not a bad sleep, though I went to bed at 3am as I was painting the kitchen.
2) A weird pleasure but I think on the FOURTH attempt, the scabies treating might actually have achieved something. It is always worse at night so time will tell...
3) Painted the kitchen much of the day, and there is still an area that needs a second coat.
4) Went to B and Q for more paint.
5) Popped to Sainsburys.
6) Just been sent a photo of my 2 friends playing chess!
7) Smaller son is jolly today.6 -
Hello. Bedtime. I’ve been sat downstairs reading and reading till the bitter end of a library book. That’s not really my usual genre of book but was determined to persevere.Went to beach with doggy this morning. Tide was in and sea was a touch wild!Got some RTC flowers at seaside supermarket.Enjoyed a tunnocks caramel log and some irn bru for my burns lunch! We were just in and pup arrived. Oh hello…again! May have been a tad nippy with DD2 when she picked him up!Tried to avoid putting the heating on as I’m determined not to go out of credit with my gas/electric. One more wintery month to go! So I sat with my wooly hat on, under my granny’s quilted blanket with two hot water bottles. Sat and finished script. It’s been sent for approval and hence I wait with trepidation!Put some sausages and gravy in the slow cooker. Mashed potatoes m cauliflower, sprouts, peas and carrots, for tea. Which DD2 said was lovely! Then I got a bit grumpy has I just wanted to read my book and the pup was being a bit over enthusiastic and my vase of flowers nearly got knocked over. They left! And I finished my book!Hot water bottles filled and up to bed and see if I can stay awake to watch the penultimate Traitors! ( probably not!)8

Hello again.
Apart from an occasional gust of wind, the storm has died down in our region without causing too much damage thank goodness. Hope you've mostly been as lucky.
Recent pleasures:
1) My second shingles jab today, I am up to date now with all my jabs and as protected as it is possible to be.
2) Thanks to Lainey for reminding me of one of my favourite books ever which I have now started re-reading. 'Frederick had been the kind of husband whose wife betakes herself early to the feet of God' creases me up every time!
3) Biggest grandson's university offers have started coming through. In a month he will be 18 and a grown up. Very proud but, oh, he was a lovely baby...
4) Son dropped me off and picked me up from the surgery and then we went straight onto our daily walk, lovely and mild out when sheltered from the wind. Good long natter as usual.
5) A double batch of carrot, bean and coriander burgers tucked away in the new freezer, it is filling up nicely with yummy things.
Right, off to my bed now. Sleep well all.

For yesterday,
Early into horsey town for a payday stock up at the emporium, strings heading up to the gallops reminded me of Amps and positive wishes sent into the ether.
Grey and dreich day, headed over to the yard earlier as had hairdresser in the afternoon only for him to cancel due to illness, girlie was surprised to see me so early but happy to accept carrot and apple offerings in paddock. Cleaned bridles and chatted to friends.
Yes to Highdays #2 and having an unexpected free afternoon I downloaded & watched the film of Enchanted April, on the whole it stuck to the book and was perfect for a cosy time on sofa.
Had defrosted a couple of scones so tea & those added to the gentile atmosphere ☺️The first full moon of the year shining through the bare branches of the beech trees.6 -
Hello! Bedtime
very early start this morning with a dog wanting out! Was told it’s too early for breakfast.
Then when I went back downstairs in my bare feet I stood in dog sick at the back door! Not how I was hoping to start the day! So he’s been a bit subdued but enjoyed chicken and rice.
went as far as supermarket for chicken. Met old work colleague as I was leaving and had a nice chat.
oh hello pup! Day five!Made lamington cupcakes! The most annoying cake to ever be made I think! But was very tasty! The rest boxed up to drop off at friends tomorrow.Had log burner on. Almost out of logs. But did not have the heating on. So a cheaper smart meter day!And just sat and read a new library book all afternoon/evening. Dog on my knee and pup at my feet. I only moved to add the occasional log!Had RTC chicken Kiev for tea with rice and sprouts, peas and cauliflower nice it was too!8
