So sorry PK
For yesterday,
Much milder and I felt a tad warm in my winter coat. Trip into horsey town and met my friend for a coffee before doing a shop.
Home, unpacked then back out to the farm shop for some of their snorkers, car park was absolutely heaving but everyone must have been in the cafe as shop quiet.
Window cleaner chap came, just need to do inside now.
Over to see my equine pal, she called when she saw me and I swapped a carrot for a kiss which is a win in my eyes.
Uni Challenge and answered a few.7 -
Hello! It’s 5pm and still light! How fabulous!Up and out early with a doggy and we had a nice walk. Just us and the birds.Usual…dozed off again!Eyebrow wax! Ouch but much better. Made next two hair appointments whilst there.
Grabbed a doggy and we headed off to the castle. Enjoyed bacon roll using my voucher from Christmas. And a nice and friendly new chap who was very chatty and very nice to Hag. Beautiful snowdrops in drifts across the grass and I saw squirrels before dog did so I give them a cough as a warning that I’m there and then they scampered off.
Popped into pharmacy and grateful for free prescriptions. Then went in to old work to say hello!Home briefly then we went to vets to get weighed. He’s lost a wee bit of weight ( which I thought plus he’s had an upset tummy) however he was removed when he started barking at a cat! Er…I’ll take him out to the car and come back in! Prescribed some prebiotics which I’ll pick up in the morning…
because I’m in my jammies!Started power washing the patio which is grotty and horrid! Decided to try and do 10 slabs a day rather than do it all as it’s still cold! Anyway I got wet and then got wetter…
Dog needed a wash! He was a bit whiffy which isn’t like him anyway I’d decided today was the day. It was funny ( ish) he obviously realised what was going on and absolutely refused to come up more than halfway upstairs! So I had to bribe him with bits of chicken and sweet potato! Anyway got him in the shower and then he was okay! But I was even more soaked! So jammies on!Then got a text from vets to say prescription was ready so I just thought nah! I’ll get them tomorrow.
I know it’s still winter but there’s an air of promise of things to come. The birds volume has increased. Things are budding. Primroses in the shops. Think I’ll get some this week. The stretching out of daylight.
I’d stripped my bed this morning and got it out on the line in the sunshine with a wee breeze. It wasn’t dry but smelled of fresh air. And it’s half made…just waiting on quilt cover drying!Met a friend who was going into supermarket at same time so she was just going to hand in 2 books to the charity shelf so gave them to me and then I’ll pass them in to the charity shelf! So that was nice! And no Tuesday tea tonight! Which every now and again is nice!8 -
Evening all😊. Been MIA as been feeling down (Health worries and other stresses) but back here to dwell more on the positives.
Enjoyed the French Open tennis 🎾 over the last 2 weeks and it helped switch off from other things.
Been swimming this morning and had a great stretch and relaxing float at the end.
Lazy afternoon catching up on some tv.
OH has gone to see Scunthorpe play football ⚽️ (all the way from Hertfordshire) and taken his sister, niece and nephew with him. 🤞 for a good result.
As he is out I had duck pancakes from the freezer 😋 and a couple of 🍷 .
Commiserations to PK and best wishes to all who are poorly or down. 😘8 -
1 Used the MSE Gruum deal coupon as I use their shampoo all of the time.
2 BIL touched base, concerned we are going through it, I’m glad DH chatted with him as I wasn’t in the mood for pretending to be okay.
3 Picked up DH’s car which has been moving about having repairs all month to give you an idea of cost to us. We’ve had the gear box rebuilt, at one place and then drove it to a lovely garage we know well, they are soo good, with bits and bobs we were able to source some parts they managed some others, and talked with us where there were issues etc. We did have the conversation about the car worth, but what’s spent is just less than its second-hand cost, it’s known DH has done all of the work to it, and the only reason he couldn’t do the garage work is a few reasons, he’s badly injured an arm waiting for an op, and it’s so cold outside as it’s not in a workshop. They agreed we’ve done the right thing in the current market, and they always comment on just how nice the car is, which has a nice factor to it, coupled with out the work done it wouldn’t be worth anything. Now we need to tax it in Feb. To give a hint of the budget left for us for the year I am doing various things wondering how to work it now.
4 I bought in all the bird feeders, took them all apart, soaked and cleaned up, rebuilt, re loaded and put out again.
5 I caved and bought Tuesdays with Morrie on kindle on offer at 99p
We were talking of our close friend passing, he had suffered the past year with numerous issues. So pleased to have had him in our lives, we met in 2001, and years later gradually became one of those people who would have moved mountains for us if needed. We were such unlikely friends, but what a life he lived, we could go over there, and be regaled of just some of his history, it was incredible. Just looking at practical ways of supporting his wife (and friend) who is surrounded by family as it should be.

@Purple_kitten - don't forget some libraries have free eBooks and audiobooks on their websites, plus magazines too (over 9000). My library does and everyone can get a free "card" Residents of other countries may sign up for APL online services by visiting anaheim.net/librarycard and then selecting the link for Online Services Card Application for international residents.6

Good morning. Mornings are getting lighter and evenings even more noticeably so. We've turned the corner!
VJ's mum - what a clever son!
P Kitten - that's an awful start to your year. Many hugs x
Managed yoga this week and enjoyed it. No coffee after as friend went to RSPCA to meet her new cat. Her old (20!) cat died just before Christmas so she's looking for a new one, but not a kitten. Hopefully they'll match up. The system seems like a mix of a dating app and adopting a child! Many hoops to jump.
Still looking at holidays but daren't book until DH next camera test. Which keeps moving into the future. Was to be Dec. Three moves later and it's now to be end of Feb. Maybe.
Going Mother of the Bride dress shopping with DD tomorrow. I'm not good at it. Don't like lace/ brocade/ formal stuff at all. Didn't even have a 'proper' wedding dress when we got married. Still a child of the Sixties! Fortunately DD is very patient so we'll see what Leeds has to offer.
Think I'll have a cookery day today. Soup and maybe cake.
Happy Wednesday everyone8 -
For yesterday,
Did a tidy through, Yule log taken off hearth and stored away until it’s needed later in the year, last of the pine garlands and winter decs taken down and replaced with bits & bobs more appropriate to the coming spring, it’s Imbolc on Friday. Have no doubt winter still has plenty for us weather wise but the days are noticeably stretching out.
Baked a loaf plus rolls for the freezer.
With my equine love, she was strong and bouncy coming in from the field so we went into the lunge pen and did some canter work over poles, including some freestyle work with Mum jumping over the poles too!
Sat in her stable afterwards while she tucked into hay and I had a cuppa, she had a good long sniff at my tea which was ginger, honey and lemon but didn’t have a slurp.
Later in bed reading and heard an owl, has been some time.

For yesterday,
very long day taken up with taking DGS to and from hospital for day surgery to remove a severely impacted tooth as part of his orthodontic work .
he had to be there at 7 am ,it’s an hours drive so a 5 am get up ( I don’t do early mornings!) .
he had to stay longer as dropped his blood sugar , but all 5 pleasures are that he’s fine and it’s done and at long last we can see the end in sight .
i was in bed by 10 last night and slept !7 -
Morning all.
Greyish morning here but the days are definitely getting longer in our neck of the woods. Had to venture slightly further ooop north yesterday and it was noticeably colder so happy to scurry back.
Pleasures:
1) Catching up with friends on here, sorry to hear about struggles but lovely to 'touch base'.
2) To the hygienist yesterday. Mixed feelings about this as she said my teeth and gums were very good and barely touched them, I was in and out within 10 minutes (an hour's drive tjhere and back but I know that's my choice as I've stuck with my dentist since the move) and charged me £80 for the privilege but, getting older, does it make sense to keep seeing her - I alternate dentist and hygienist appointments so see each twice a year. Hmm...
3) Lovely to get home, I definitely belong here now. Keep saying that but the novelty hasn't worn off yet, four years on.
4) Lunch out so we didn't fancy much tea and settled for cheesy beans on toast - delish! So last night's planned and prepped tea is sat ready for tonight. Double pleasure.
5) Up and at it early yesterday (not as early as you, Sue!) so a lazy start to a day with not much on hopefully. Aiming for a quiet afternoon of reading and knitting to make the most of the last day of January. I promised myelf a relaxing month after a lovely but busy December and on the whole it has been and I've enjoyed it.
Have a good day whatever you are up to.8 -
Hugs PK, sometimes life comes at you full pelt, doesn't it?
Thanks for good wishes for DS - it's a huge thing for him.
Pleasures for the last few days - not many as i've not been anywhere
1. finishing my book club book "The Thousand Autumns of Jacob de Zoet". it was really very good but very looooong
2. starting another, much pacier book
3. Watching stuff on telly - Game of THrones, Homeland, Wolf Hall.
4. A nice soak in the bath yesterday
5. A walk by the sea yesterday - it took it out of me but i'm glad i did it.
I think i'm over the worst now - just the faintest of faint lines on the test. Just need to recover my get up and go.I wanna be in the room where it happens8
