For yesterday,
Bit of a lie-in followed by a leisurely breakfast listening to the cricket, good start by our bowlers and then they got stuck into our batsman!
Meanwhile I made a loaf and did my ironing, most things are just shaken and put away now but some favourites still need to feel a warm iron to look their best.
Filled up the bird feeders and watched three magpies having an argument on the roof of the old barn, noisy birds.
Most of the afternoon was spent with my equine pal, she worked well for me and now takes her daily medication without a second thought but still gets a polo or two afterwards to take away the taste. Slightly later going home so listened to football on the way, we won away 2-1 but had to sit on the drive for a bit when I got home as was very tense!
Booked a few days away in the Peak District for the end of this month, haven’t been for a few years and very much looking forward to it already.9 -
Good afternoon.
DfV - Lovely to see you again. Love to hear how well your family is doing.
Frith - another busy bee. You sound content . That's lovely!
Still ticking over nicely here.
We went to friend's house Friday evening for drinks and a natter. He'd made samosas too so that was lovely. Didn't leave until 12:30am! Dirty stop-outs!
Both of us had premium bonds wins this month. £100 for DH and £50 for me. Will go in the holiday fund😃
I've finished the needle felting puffin picture DD got me for Christmas. It was good fun to do and I'm actually pleased with the result. Will look for a frame next time I go shopping. There's loads of wool left. Might tackle the Mona Lisa next😂
Mini pork joint for lunch with all the trimmings. We seem to have reverted to ' Sunday dinner ' after many years without. Comfort food I suppose.
Happy teatime everyone7 -
Hello. Bedtime for me and my hot water bottles! It has been the most ghastly day weather wise. Has not stopped raining all day! Rain currently blowing horizontally! So wild.Anyway
Up very early with a doggy. Then usual schmusual dropped off to sleep again and woke up in horror thinking it was 8.20am…I’d to be at nieces by 10am so imagine when my eyes focused properly and it was actually 9.20am! The quickest shower ever and clothes pulled on, hairbrush pulled through hair and off I went! Got there at 10.05am.They’ve just got keys to a new place so I said I’d go down and clean the kitchen and bathroom. As others were doing the actual moving of stuff.. but I also had to be back to go and view a property with DD2 at midday. So I literally had an hour of cleaning then had to turn round and drive back home. 25 minute drive each way and the surface water on the roads was awful. Anyway did it and I wish them well in their new home.Quick chat on phone with sister whilst there. So first house viewing at 12 then another at 3.30pm.With Sunday lunch in between. Had found a gammon joint so popped that in the slow cooker when I was first up with doggy ( thank goodness or it wouldn’t have been cooked!) had it with mashed potatoes, parsnips, cauliflower, broccoli, sprouts, peas and carrots and green beans! Then I’d made a tiny little crumble with half a tin of peaches I had in the fridge and apples. Crumble mix was from the freezer. And had that with the last of the skooshy cream from Christmas time.Back out in the wind and rain to see other house, got dropped off and said goodbye puppy. See ya tomorrow!Dog and I sighed and cuddled in on the sofa!No need for tea.
Friend phoned and had a very nice long chat with her.7 -
Pleasures for today (Sunday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Porridge for breakfast.
3) 2-3 hours in the garden. All borders dug over now, 3 crowns of rhubarb and 6 raspberry canes planted today.
4) Took ?12 sacks of rubble, weeds and pulled up roots to the tip.
5) Lidl.
6) Back in the garden for another bonfire and a bit more weeding.
7) Smaller son and I walked to the little Tesco.
8) MrU has been speaking to the local cat for some time. They are both on the sofa now.6 -
1) oo exciting happycas - i too won £100 - I have never won £100 before
2) sweet singing in the choir despite 3 of our best singers being in Nice singing at our old provost's instillation (after which they posted lovely photos on FB)

1 Spoke with friend last night, she’ll be okay, in the meantime I am gathering some bits together for her, just things like chocs, hot cross buns etc, to go with the milk/bread/cheese vitals.
2 Grilled bacon sarnie is always Sunday’s brekkie.
3 Luxurious deep hair treatment.
4 Made some plant plans, the greenhouse is in good order, plan to both find and plant some seeds tomorrow.
5 Comforting pasta bake for tea, using up leftover sausages, topped with melty cheese.

Hello again.
Lovely to 'see' you DfV, think you and your sons are amazing, your boys are a credit to you.
Recent pleasures:
1) My meds are working and I am starting to look, and feel, more normal. Don't much like the side effects but they are short-lived and, having had three hospital stays with this before, I can put up with them.
2) A very lazy day, didn't rush up and just pottered til it was time to get ready to go out. Read the papers, did some knitting, put a colour on my hair, that's about it really.
3) Had an afternoon visit from my step great granddaughter who is 3 and so, so cute. Having had only boys - son and grandsons - a little girl is a novelty to me and she is very girly and tiny compared to our big boys. Just adorable.
4) Met up with my brothers and their wives for a meal at our very favourite Thai restaurant. Lovely, though sadly I coudn't eat very much and had to forgo the delicious wine but I'm glad I could make it and it was lovely to all get together again. The restaurant boxed up everything that was left and it is now stashed away in my freezer for when I'm properly better - love leftovers so will look forward to it.
5) Son had lots of people over and because his kitchen/dining room is still a work in progress and we were out anyway, we gave him the use of our kitchen and dining table which can seat 14 with the extensions in. Came home to find they had left it all cleaner and tidier than they found it. Result! The little one had been playing with my old teddy when she came in this afternoon and left her on the chair all put to bed in a throw! Awww!
Right, another busy social day on the cards tomorrow so heading off to bed.
Sleep well everyone.8 -
For yesterday,
Small dog had a mini lie-in so I could too although still 7.30am!
Bacon butties for breakfast and then caught up on all things Ambridge, goodness me.
Prepped a beef stew then out in the garden, clearing and tidying veg beds, picked kale and calabrese which we had with the stew plus the last of the carrots. Lists and plans made for what we are growing this year and the seed box checked. Found a nest from last year in one of our shrubs, tiny so might have been a wren.
Late afternoon walk and strange orange light which apparently was dust being pulled up from the Sahara in the windy conditions.
Finally got round to watching the Only Connect final and even answered a few questions ☺️7 -
Quickly coming on this morning to be thankful. Son called through the night to tell me he’d been in a car crash. Someone ploughed into the front of his car but he’s okay. Car is not okay but it’s just a car. Had another quick chat this morning so he really is okay which I’m so relieved about. Your heart kind of sinks in the middle of the night when you get a phone call.7
