Hello! Oh my weary brain! Been doing work stuff and on a blooming laptop I’m not used to! I think DD2 thinks I belong in ye olde dark ages! I feel I belong in ye olde dark ages!Anyway asides from that :
Up early and out for very quick walk. A smily moon and a bright Venus below.Went to favourite place. Had a very nice fruit scone ( most unlike me but was there a few days ago with friend and had a roll then so I didn’t need again so soon ) lovely walk. Colours just stunning.Home and hello laptop…if I must!Went out for an hour and a half. Just to be away from screen. Walked round to mums NDN and had a quick chat with her and we shared a laugh as the tree between the gardens was shedding its leaves as always in mums garden’s direction…every year she’d moan! Then walked to supermarket bought some Jaffa cakes and walked the long way home. Met a friend on way back so quick chat to her and a catch up . Then homeward bound and met a neighbour so chatted to them.Sat down at table about 4pm to work. Pup dropped off about 5.40pm for an hour or so then DD2 picked him up.Ate said Jaffa cakes instead of cooking tea!8 -
back from Pakistan - what a fabulous trip - just caught up on all your pleasures - waves to Bop and sparrer - glad things went well PK - intrigued about Monday Frith Otis Khan clear to play for Pakistan BOP
Quick pleasures cos although 20:38 feels considerably later!!!
1) the people were so very very kind and lovely - we were looked after soooo well - met at airport, delivered to guest house in grounds of University then after a snooze and a shower off to host's niece's Dholki (first part of a Pakistani wedding)
2) day 2 meetings then then a trip to the shopping centre - I bought 3 shalwar kameez and 2 pairs of khussa which are incredibly comfortable though totally impractical for Scottish weather
3) day 3 teaching - decided i could mention the cricket as Pakistan doing much better than England - supper at guest house
4) day 4 pre conference workshop then trip to Walled Lahore was magical (though the smog was horrid - thank goodness for the Clean Air Act here in the UK)
4) day 5 and time for colleague to lead the day then day 6 conference with keynotes then day 7 meetings then off to Islamabad - 2 days of meetings, super restaurants and a trip to Murree with a lovely chairlift ride
5) then onto Abbottabad - soooo pretty - repeated one of the workshops. that was as far north as we're allowed (have to follow foreign office rules) but hoping one day we can go to Peshawar. DrM watched the Luton match at Mennies (there's dedication!) but i had to make do with the BBC updates
we had a straightforward trip back Monday night / Tuesday. I made it to Mennies Tuesday evening for the footie then work and more footie Wednesday. Today's just been work and tomorrow we (DrM, MrE, HA and me) go down south for the weekend - tickets for Middlesbrough Leicester have been secured. I'm not taking my puter so see you all when i get back

Sounds wonderful DD
For yesterday,
More home improvements, this time a plumber to replace radiator and taps in ensuite, he also resealed the shower cubicle which technically we could have done ourselves but seems daft if he was already here. All planned and budgeted for but hope that’s it for this year.
Left him to it and spent the morning baking in the kitchen, a loaf, rolls for the freezer plus a ginger & treacle cake. Think he was hopeful of a slice of cake with his cuppa but had to make do with biscuits.
Over to see my equine girlie who called out as she saw me walking up to her field, brought her in and washed her legs, then trimmed off the excess hair. Cup of coffee and a chat in the kitchen with my friend.
Make it up as you go along kind of tea involving chicken, peppers, orzo pasta and blue cheese, twas yum.
Last in the series of ACGAS ☹️ but pleased to see that there will be a Yuletide special.7 -
Hello…was on my laptop and wrote the first sentence and then thought nah…jump on the iPad!So for today
Woke at 6am…late for me.A star filled sky.
An hour and a half later a fog filled sky!Was leaving house at 7.30am to walk to hairdresser at 8am. Could hardly see a thing so I’m glad I wasn’t driving and was also very frosty and slippy.
First in at hairdressers and had a nice chatter and a lovely hairdo!Walked the long way home which took 45 minutes and was very slippy in parts. But fog was gone and sky was blue and a weak sun was shining.
Met a friend on way home so nice chatter with them.Home and hello doggy.Hoovered, washed floors and cleaned bathrooms. This was procrastinating prior to going in to garage to tidy up a bit more!Anyway in I went and there is now a log bag sized space for when it’s delivered next week. Felt rather chuffed with myself as it’s taken ages to do and has been a blooming emotional assault often. There’s still stuff to be sorted but there’s space when a few months ago there just wasn’t.Then it was hello Puppy.A quieter afternoon. Watched All Creatures. Lainey I was sad it was the last episode too. It’s just the nicest thing to watch from the very start of the titles and the music and then all the way through to the end and the music. Just lovely feel good telly.Put the log burner on. I’ve about another three fires worth of wood left.Made a curry for tea.DD2 picked pup up.Lots of metaphorical jigsaw pieces fell into place today so much has been done and I shall announce things very soon as to what I’m going to be doing with my next chapter in life! It’s nothing too exciting but exactly what I want to be doing!Just waiting on last log burning down a bit then I’ll be heading to bed,10 -
Mhags - I'm agog about the next chapter.
Pleasures yesterday
1. went to visit MiL - one of the only pleasures is that duty is done. it's all rather depressing
2. But we went to a favourite cafe. Had Jamaican soup - basically a vaguely spicy veggie soup with added kidney beans but was v. tasty with delicous bread accompanying it. I don't really eat bread but had to make an exception for this.
3. Managed a 4 mile walk in all.
4. Home and a basic jacket spud with tuna. and a much-needed glass of wine
5. Menfolk went to the villa (who won), so i watched the Robbie Williams documentary on Netflix. Was quite sad. Especially that one of his worst nights was one of my favourite memories - the pleasure was remembering it. We went to see Robbie that night (had taken the kids out of school - saying it was a 'family event'; well, we went as a family 🤣). Anyhoo, I remember 'Angels' really clearly - we were at the back, a small DS was cuddled up to me, absolutely knackered, as we watched the crowd singing along...
Night all.I wanna be in the room where it happens6 -
1 Feeling a lot more with it.
2 Popped some bird food out, loving watching the grey but is yellow wag tails.
3 Chop and veg parcel with fresh pasta for dinner.
4 Its raining leaves.
5 Learning about using mayo on wood stains overnight…. Also finding I’m making quite a big shopping list as I am reading recipes and realising we’ve run out of hm mincemeat, as Greggs don’t deliver… albeit just as well really.

For yesterday
Into horsey town for a food shop, few rtc bargains to be had including two slices of Biscoff cheesecake.
More errands, this time to pet store for small dog’s food, met a very excitable spaniel puppy called Belle, much bounding around and saying hello to everybody, remember those days oh too well.
Over to the yard and fetched in the beautiful grey one, she felt cool under her turnout sheet so sorted her legs and feet then left her munching on hay whilst I sorted out a heavier rug plus attached a neck cover to her stable one as very low overnight temperatures forecasted. Helped my pal with her horse then gave mine a long warm up, followed by a quick lunge and then settled her back in stable. Sun was just set by the time I left but know the afternoons are getting shorter by the day.
Straight into warm PJ’s when I got home as nothing smelly to cook tea wise, just loaded nachos, followed by said cheesecake which was far too tasty for my peace of mind!
Cosy evening, caught up on a couple of programmes and played a game of Yahtzee.8 -
Evening all, hope your weekends are going well.
Pleasures for yesterday
1. My goddaughter is over from the Maldives for a couple of weeks. Was good to catch up with her.
2. Good drive to ICT
3. a cuppa and a catch up with a friend here
4. The woodburner has moved on - chimney breast has had a second coat of plaster.
5. gin.
Enjoy your evenings.I wanna be in the room where it happens7 -
Good morning! Tis a cold and frosty morning here again. As was yesterday!Beautiful doggy walk. The sky was absolutely filled with stars.
I walked to supermarket the longish way and walked home the even longer way. Trying to up my step count! And get fresh air.Went to seaside town to have a mooch round their usually better charity shops.Got what was needed ( for work stuff)
Stopped at the beach just for 10 minutes on way back. Tide was in and it was busy so wouldn’t have been ideal for doggy but I feel dog mum guilt when I’m there without him…this guilt continues as I then met DD2 for a walk with the her and the pup…who is a lot more sociable than my grumpy bear of a dog!Anyway home to him with a hello doggy. See I am home.DD2 then dropped off pup for a couple of hours and the chap picked him back up.Watched strictly. Then bed. And was watching something but obviously fell asleep!Have a good Sunday8 -
Good morning. Beautiful bright day yesterday but back to dismal and grey today.
D Doll. - I'm very jealous. I used to mark papers from Pakistan and the descriptions of their home areas always made me want to go there. Though there was often a sad undercurrent too.
On Friday I didn't wake up until 7:55. That happens about once every three years - literally. Wish I knew what I'd done differently and I'd do it again!
DH cleared up loads of leaves yesterday. He'll be cross when he gets up to see there are just as many today!
I sorted out the wreath making bits and we've loads left over from last year. Fresh greenery and sphagnum moss and we're sorted.
Going to add the thin duvet when I change the bed today. We have those that press stud together. I don't like hot bedrooms but have to have a warm bed.
Still watching Strictly. Still whizzing the waffle. Though I fear my favourite will be out this week. Then it's just a lot of people I don't know. And Angela Rippon, and I can't seem to take to her, impressive though she is in her stamina and flexibility. Sorry if she's your favourite!
Happy Sunday everyone
