Morning everyone.
Not much happening in our neck of the woods, just steady away - perfect!
Recent pleasures:
1) Had my well woman check up thing on Thursday afternoon and amazed to get the results pinged to my phone on Friday lunchtime. Eveything pretty much ok, thank goodness, just need to lose some more weight (no surprises there!) but seem to be fine otherwise. More a relief than a pleasure and I am very grateful.
2) Had already started reading my Michael Greger book - just in case! - and am now working on prevention being better than cure so tweaked the shopping list and stocked up on lots of the healthy stuff that we enjoy anyway and crossed off all the c**p that we don't need.
3) Did some tidying and clearing in the garden and sorted the winter pots. Covers on the outside furniture now but we still have a seat in a sunny spot so if it's a nice day and we wrap up warm we can still sit out for a cuppa.
4) Started packing up my summerhouse, I will miss it but look forward to cosy afternoons with a good book and a cuddly throw and then it'll be next summer before we know it!
5) Hubby off early this morning to get their next production set up and the sets assembled. Missed the last one as wasn't well so looking forward to this one. A Christmas Carol - very seasonal. Meanwhile I have a day to myself so I can either be very productive or very lazy. Hmmm.......
Enjoy your day whatever you are up to.7 -
Hello. Bedtime. Just had a work ( ish ) meeting with someone and they’ve just left. We sat and chattered after the worky bit.
Anyway been a rather quiet day and not done too much.Up early and out with doggy.
Had a croissant with toasted cheese for brunch.Hung a washing out.
Chat to friend for an hour
Chat to DD1 for an hour
Had a bit of a lie down as felt a wee bit rubbish another hour
Did a bit of work stuff for about an hour!Put dinner in the oven and SIL called so had a nice chat with her for an hour and munched my dinner as I talked.Had the pup for a couple of hours. He had just left and work person came over. For three hours! So as someone who’s not done very much I’ve passed the hours!7 -
1 Several books on the go a terry Pratchett and also the Christmas chronicles, really enjoying both.
2 I have a sweet hankering, so I’ve cooked up a batch of chocolate cupcakes, they will soon be topped with some butter icing to top off the sweet tooth so to speak.
3 Had pizza tonight freezer to oven.
4 The bottom fell out of the water jug, having seen loads in CS’s I wonder if there are any there when we need it thou.
5 Meal planned for the week ahead.

Yesterday’s post appears to have disappeared into the ether 🤔
For Sunday,
Just light when small dog woke me up, frost on the grass and all of a sudden the beech trees are very orange.
Early Ambridge due to broadcast from the Cenotaph so all done by 10.30.
In the garden for an hour, filled up bird feeders, tidied pots and picked some veg for lunch.
Watched and thoroughly enjoyed the Fisherman’s Friends film, first time we’d seen it.
A walk around the field then home to hunker down for the evening.

Morning all.
Pleasures for saturday
1. Did a circuit by the sea
2. And then went for a swim - not in the sea! 🤣
3. Read more of my book club book - finally got into it and now want to know how all will pan out
4. Watched some Harry Potter
5. Went to the pub for dinner with friends. Copped out and drove (rather than cycled) as it was so bloomin cold.
ANd yesterday
1. More book
2. More circuit by the sea - dodging the showers
3. train back to civilisation and for once, all went perfectly
4. home and the meat for beef in beer was not defrosted, so i couldn't cook it. So lit the fire, watched the telly, had a cuppa.
5. OH cooked fajitas instead.
Have a great day all.
I wanna be in the room where it happens8 -
oh bother seem to have lost long post so to recap in a much shorter one...
1) trip to Durham fab despite being stuck 2 hours 41 minutes 'Due to a landslip between Darlington and Newcastle' - refunds are being sorted.
2) Saturday's trip over to Middlesbrough fab though not impressed by 2 carriage train first train after match to Darlington - it was a squeeze but we did get a lot more people on cos I went into teacher mode and moved people down the carriage!
3) Sunday in Durham lovely as was the weather - DrM and I went off to the botanics then we met with the other two for lunch then a trip to the museum and the cathedral
4) DrM and I stayed for evensong and the other two went off for their earlier train - got to the station and there were the other two waiting for their very delayed train so we joined them - at Newcastle we managed a table for all 4 of us!
5) 3 minute connection at Edinburgh was made in plenty of time, MrG and I went into teacher mode and managed to get 2x2sin a row - there was even an empty Waitrose bag to put in all the detritus left by the previous incumbents so by the time the other two ambled on all was clean and comfy! - train put on another line (no idea) and very slow (slippy rails) but we got back in the end - taxi up to Mennies for a toasty and starting to plan our next tripMrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

Hello! What a day!The weather first thing was just ghastly! Absolutely lashing with rain and wild and windy. The dog just kind of looked at me!Was out at a funeral for a big chunk of the day. My daughter’s best friend’s dad. And I thought I wouldn’t really know anyone as I was going to support DD2 but it turns out I did so had some lovely chatters and some lovely sausage rolls! And thankfully it was dry for the bits we needed it to be dry at ( burial) slightly funny moment when I thought I was heading to the carpark but we were in a queue of cars driving right into the graveyard behind the hearse, we were about 15 cars behind! Oh my goodness! Then had to drive right through to get back out.Popped into charity shop on way back to car. Got a linen top. And then popped into ice cream shop as I was walking right past it and bought a tub of ice cream and went yikes at the price of it from whenever I was last in, some time in the summer!Home and hello doggy! He’d had a visit from The Chap and The pup whilst I was out. Shared a wee bit of ice cream with him and then headed back out. Picked up DD2 who had waited on a bit longer. Went to big supermarket ( seeing as we were in their carpark!) and she got her very early Christmas present of a new coat. She needs one for doggy walking…and maybe I’ll get mine back…that she nabbed! There was a 25% off sale!Home! As it was starting to get dark and was raining and getting a bit ghastly again.Do not need tea…sausage rolls and ice cream quite e enough I think!Announced my new life venture. I have trained as an independent celebrant. My new direction in life. First service on Wednesday this week! Eek! Still got lots to learn and lots to do but a big leap of faith in myself ( and it absolutely feels like a leap!)
Log day tomorrow! Hoping the space I’ve made in the garage is big enough!8 -
Mhags, that sounds like an exciting new venture, congratulations.
Feeling very let down by a place we used to volunteer with, I know it’s a case of one door closes, to allow for another, but it's left us feeling low, and DH is also looking on the bleak with other things, so I need some pleasures.
1 Able to do a little de cluttering, this time of the excess toiletries that have accumulated up, as things were literally falling out. I know it sounds daft but it makes me feel a lot more organised to have things not falling out of a cupboard.
2 Burger and chips for tea tonight, I can never cook these up in the grill without the smoke alarm announcing dinners ready!
3 Just booked up a couple of Pilates classes next week.
4 Made plans to visit the in laws.[

Exciting indeed Mhags, many congratulations 🎉
For yesterday,
Woke up to the sound of rain lashing against the window so first pleasure of snuggling back down for 10 minutes.
Into horsey town for a food shop, the emporium’s car park was as empty as I’ve seen it, got a few rtc bargains for the freezer.
Sorted out another bag of clothes for CS, guess that I now have what is called a capsule wardrobe as keep getting rid and not replacing!
With my equine pal, very windy still but the sun had come out so a bit of groundwork done and she was back to her usual affectionate self, guess we are all entitled to an off day.
Capt S had a late afternoon meeting so I walked small dog, avoiding the beech trees which have been shedding small branches all day, and then home to make tea, he was home by 7.30 so not so bad.
