Tonight I'm being 'Dean' for the medical school prize-giving - I too have woken up with a scratchy throat mhags and need to sort before tonight
for yesterday
1) a good night's sleep as did the dogs - can't believe they slept even longer than me
2) leftovers for breakfast - cabbage, mash and carrot with added onion, an egg and chilli flakes - very yummy
3) last teaching and my excellent baker colleague brought in carrot cake for the break
4) 2 new members of staff (1 maternity cover) - 5 of us went to the canteen for freshly cooked pizza - the leftovers are in the work fridge for my lunch
5) after Shakespeare's folio on Sky Arts (very good) trotted down to the pub (very wet) and had a good what was left of the evening with DrM and others. They're next in Thursday for the Scotland match but I've got choir, subject to scratchy throat of course.MrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

Bedtime! So this morning we were at the beach by 7.30 am , tide well out and I had the happiest dog running and he was just in his element! So it was worth getting up early, driving in the dark and rain! However when we got back to the car I realised I’d dropped my phone so had to walk way back but thankfully found it. Another hour and it would have been covered by sea!Home. Briefly. Had shower and then went to hairdressers to get a blow dry! A wee treat for me from me. Wanted to look nice for tonight.
Home briefly. But had longer than I thought. Clock at hairdresser was at wrong time so I thought I had less time than I did!
Then out again. Drove to where I was going tonight so I knew where I was going once it was dark. Then popped into TK Max and bought unnecessary but pretty fripperies! Then met friends for lunch. Was so nice to catch up with them. Then I nipped into town. Then home and hello doggy! Then back out again for my first service that I was conducting and it went very well. Family were delighted so that’s what matters. And home! And hello doggy I’ve missed you too.And bed!! Ready for it tonight! And had to message people when I got in as they all wanted to know how I’d got on!8 -
Congratulations Mhags and how lovely to be part of such special days for folks x
For yesterday,
Busy morning with lots of admin jobs and surveys.
Crying my eyes out but in a good way when I watched radio listener Barbara’s message to Vernon Kay, for anyone not aware the back story is pretty heartwarming and worth digging out.
As always, time spent with my horse, she was in a very Woohoo mood and lunging her was like flying a kite at times!
Small dog had her monthly check up at the vets and I had to smile at the exaggerated sigh as we walked into the consulting room, all is ok though and she sat like a good girl for her treats.
Treat for us too, with an oven still not working we walked down to the pub in the village for our evening meal, lovely food and the log fire was a real treat as well.

Hello. Bedtime. I’m tired tonight.Up early. Chatted to DD1 and my sister about last night. Was taking DD2 to hospital for an appointment this morning so picked her up then dropped her back off at work and managed to get one of the last car parking spaces. Then headed out to half way garden centre and met niece, nephew in law and great nephew and had a very nice cooked breakfast! Their treat. Had a wander round. Then home and such a lovely drive through the countryside
Hello doggy! I am absolutely not going anywhere else today! So started the fire and hoovered upstairs and downstairs. Hung a washing on clothes horse as it wouldn’t have dried outside today. Cleaned bathrooms. Topped up log basket…so easy now it’s all in garage and a big full bag!Had sat stuff outside hall cupboard about a week ago to put away ( as in open the door and pop it in! ) anyway finally opened the door and put it in and found the exact light bulbs for the lamp I bought yesterday! So the spare bedroom finally has a lamp! Silly tiny bulb not a standard oh I’ve got loads in the kitchen cupboard kind! Then sat on the sofa with a dog on my knee and started watching the crown. And I know it’s fictitious and we don’t really know what was said she was absolutely hounded by paparazzi. It must have been awful.Had a RTC curry ready meal doodah for tea with some sprouts and peas. Then still felt hungry so made some pancakes and banana.
Chat to friend on phone this evening.9 -
1 We travelled over to the in-laws as it had been to long between visits, it went well barring the hard of hearing ness now very evident. They took us out for lovely meal at a very busy carvery.
2 As a glutton for punishment we did both Aldeee and L£dls, and picked up a couple of reductions at both. Currently boiling up 20 days’ worth of chicken for the animals, and they will have the stock liquid tonight in with their food.
3 I received a call for an appointment for results next week.
4 I picked up a packet of festive Kipling’s after various rave reviews and even the checkout lady was extolling how good they are, I’m expecting great things!!!
5 Enjoying reading the Nigel Slater Christmas book.

Briefly, after another tricky week - thankyou to Mhags for noting &'s t'internet probs are now officially classed as 'permanent'.
Further, will have to drive further than before for any connectivity e g. emporium or Peacock HQ, as now.
1. Much crochet done over last week. Koala finished. All from a very annoying, badly-written amigurumi book of 4 Oz stereotypes. Only quogga left to do after swagman, currently driving & 'nanas, as pattern instructions are so mangled and inaccurate.
2. Orange+choc chip biccies made Tuesday are way too nice. Christmas cake for oldest northern hemisphere uni friend is the hardy annual gift now. Suits us both very well to do this. & is feeding it up with whisky every few days.
3. Served post-training munch tonight, chilli and rice. Will & drive to Westcliffe away match tmrw? The dear boys were asking. Who knows. Raised £700 on raffle last Saturday and we won well. Glorious result and, on personal level, it was lovely to be so warmly greeted by all and sundry on return.
4. Have been asked to do something and will.
5. Catching up reading here. Wonderful news Frith! Perfect pathway, Mhags.

Good to hear from you Ampersand.
For yesterday,
Bad head overnight so decision made for quiet day at home, nice to have the choice.
Did pop into horsey town to pick up a new doormat and some bird seed as the colder weather is bringing more and more to the feeders.
Long chat with my bf.
Capt S out for the evening so I dug out something from the deep depths of the freezer, turned out to be lentil shepherds pie.
The long forgotten pleasure of The Breakfast Club, watched many times as a youngster and the joy was still there.6 -
Morning everyone.
Lovey sunny morning here, clear blue skies, lovely.
Some pleasures:
1) Our quiet week continues as hubby is at the play every evening. Just tonight and a matinee tomorrow and he is done. I finally got to see the production and it was very good, lovely to see our little theatre completely full, they are sold out for every performance.
2) Back on the wholefood and exercise routine after my health check last week, 5lb off this week so that was the kick in the ample rear that I needed! Feel much better, the chocolate and mince pie diet was doing me no favours really.
3) My new walking shoes arrived, too many wet leaves to wear trainers for walking and walking boots a bit too clunky. These are perfect and not too expenive.
4 )Have a 'date' to watch The Crown with son's partner, the menfolk aren't interested and not sure I'm that keen really but having watched the previous ones we might as well see it through to the end - and it will be lovely to have some 1:1 girl time in what was a mainly male household.
5) We have a skip arriving today so a load of the building rubbish down the side of the house will go. We are pretty much past the demolition stage now - this is a big pleasure. Had the roofers back yesterday as, when they were doing the extension roof, they noticed a cracked slate on the main roof. Turns out a half brick had fallen off the topp of one of the chimneys, cracked the slate and there was a hole in the underfelt stuff so you could see daylight through the hole. All sorted now, luckily, with winter coming.
Well, as usual, I've rabbited on about nothing very much!
Have a good Friday.8 -
Hello. Having an early night! Not going to sleep just yet but just time for jammies!Up early then dozed off again and woke at 8.45am yikes!Lovely walk up round castle. Had brightened up. A kestrel swooped past us. Lots of birds singing.Quick nip to supermarket then home for a puppy coming for the afternoon.Watched some Australian telly and missed Australia! Which says a lot as their telly was a bit rubbish 😆
Quick chat with DD2 when she picked up the pup…I’ll see him again in the morning!8 -
