Great news PK😊
Still feeling not quite right but starting to get on with things. Cooked a pork and apple casserole with lots of veg in the slow cooker on Sunday, which we had with roasties and sprouts (!). Lots of veg left so added cooked sliced sausages and topped with mashed sweet and ordinary potatoes, enough for last night and tonight, very tasty 😋
Went shopping to Lidl yesterday and going to friends for lunch today, I’m taking two packs of mussels in white and garlic I bought yesterday, to have with dippy bread 😊
I managed to buy quite a few Christmas presents on my shopping trip last week, still the difficult ones to get ☹️. I also bought a large gammon joint and a leg of lamb, both on offer. The family Boxing Day get together is at mine this year, so need to get planning.
have a good Tuesday everyone 😊7 -
Morning all.
Lovely and sunny here today, blue skies all the way.
PK - that is just the best news ever, what a fantastic result. And breathe.....
Dashing out, catch you later.7 -
Hello lovely people, great to be here albeit briefly. Hope you're all well and not beginning to feel the stresses of the upcoming season.
Just a quick one from the NW, with son and family for grandson's 3rd birthday.
1. Good drive up, M1 was almost empty(by comparison). M6 slow but moving.
2. Simply stunning Autumn, God paints in amazing colours.
3. Beautiful guest bedroom/bathroom now complete, no more staying in hotels so more to spend on the family
4. It's warm! A true blessing after my house, which must be the coldest one south of the Watford Gap. Tempting though it is I'll try not to outstay my welcome but will be back for the C-word.
5. Have requested no cards or presents this year - I can only drink out of one cup at a time, don't use bath sets and hate the Jan clear-out for a trip to the charity shop. Why do folk think once you're a g/grandma that you'd be pleased with yet another set of rose bubble bath? So donations only to food banks/favourite charities which will give me more pleasure than any of the above.
Sneaky 6 Going to pick the little ones up from school/nursery soon and we're making pizza as their chosen tea. Then hm rice pud with skin on, even at 5 and 3 years old they love it. The pleasures of being a grandma, even if long distance.
But I still don't like rose smellies!
I do read here when I get a minute and love to keep up with you all, so thank you for all the newsy posts. Do take care and stay as well as you can x
ps did I say just a quick one?!9 -
Or fluffy socks and I’m only a grandma ,not great !6

Hello and lovely to ‘see’ you again Sparrer enjoy your time with your family. I’ve asked for a hairdresser voucher for Christmas. I don’t need stuff…spent the last 18 months trying to get rid of stuff!Up early. Lots of stars in the sky and was frosty.
Went to Lidl which is the other side of town. But I’d a £5 off a £25 spend voucher. So went round with my calculator and spent exactly that. And managed to get some Rtc stuff.
Then drove out to garden centre for a scone and some bird food. Bird feeders now visible again as leaves have fallen off a tree!
Home. Quickly put shopping away and grabbed a dog. Went up to castle to book lunch for next week and asked if I could quickly walk doggy. Yes ( really only allowed with a dog as a customer)
Then home.Walked to supermarket. Posted DD1 Christmas card. Got a few bits and pieces. Walked home.
Then went to make a pavlova and realised I didn’t have enough eggs so jumped in car to grab ‘em.
Tuesday tea ( in honour of DD1 birthday) was RTC lasagna from Lidl. RTC salad. RTC baby potatoes . RTC coleslaw with RTC garlic bread from the freezer.
Pavlova and peaches for pud. Usual nonsense and chatter.Lovely roses from friend.
lovely to see everyone but enjoy that moment to myself when everyone goes.PK happy birthday to you 💕9 -
For yesterday,
Not a great morning weather wise so cosy time in the kitchen, made a batch of chicken soup with lots of immunity boosting ingredients and some winter slaw as well.
Postie came with something that needed a signature and I was in, doesn’t often happen and it’s a drive to our local sorting office.
Over to the yard to await vet, not quite what I was expecting as blood tests taken and if that doesn’t prove conclusive she will be scanned as vet thinks problems with her ovaries, suspected tumour. Her Mum is trying not to worry but…, guess pleasure is that we have fantastic facilities at horsey town where vet is based.
Home and needed a strong cup of tea.
Watched and enjoyed GBBO, although my favourite went home.7 -
Lainey, I hope your beautiful grey one 🐴 is ok, as you say you’re in the right part of the world for great facilities 😘😊5

Lainey, glad you have a vet you trust.
Had a really lovely birthday yesterday, obviously rather buoyed by great news, DH took me out to pamper me in MSE style, we went to Primark and just had a bit of fun, picking up a fluffy sparkly jumper that looks like it’s got 2 ferrets on, and some really soft stitch themed things..
Some amazingly soft great quality leggings – not from Primark, and we went perfume shopping, we had a real stroke of luck when we found my old original perfume on offer in Costco at literally half of the price and I picked up a few Christmas gifts that we were getting any rate but had a real bonus to find they had in-store Black Friday offers on them.
We stopped in at Greggs for a hot lunch, and picked up 2 packs of mince pies, one for freezing down as there are lots of birthday chocolate goodies around.
I had to pop to hospital to pick up my meds today we got there early and beat the ques, they also advised to be careful socialising in the new year as can’t do the surgery if I get a lergy it will delay things.
If anyone wants a slice of chocolate birthday cake, we have rather a lot of it...7 -
Hello! I’ll have a slice of cake PK…never turn down cake 😆
Up early. Then kind of had a dozy kind of return to bed!Up did some work stuff. Honestly that laptop!Sorted what needed sorted and took my dog to the beach! It was wild! So had a very exhilarating walk, shouted out some stuff to the universe!Saw a rainbow and then one of ‘our’ songs played when I went into a shop.Home. Phone call with my mentor. Feeling slightly out of my depth so was reassured and encouraged!Walked to supermarket in the dark for stamps and walked back ( it’s about 45 minutes all in) the wind blew me there and then I was poured upon on the way back.Had chicken Kiev again for tea.Watched GBBO8 -
Wishing you belated birthday wishes PK, sounds like you had a fab day x
For yesterday,
Rough night, nightmare plus being in the wide awake at 3am club, so oh that first cuppa of the day.
Into Uni city for a haircut, asked to go slightly shorter which I do like but boy were my ears cold when I come out!
Grabbed a festive sandwich from Mr Sparks and headed over to see my girlie, a little gentle in-hand work and much cosseting.
Out again, this time for a meal and a catch up with my friends, tasty food and lovely company.
Driving home through country roads and a barn owl flew out in front of me, beautiful, beautiful
