Hello! Just switched everything off downstairs and came up to bed. Big moon tonight.Up early. Had a sad dream when my husband hadn’t been in touch in five months and I wanted to know why he wasn’t ( was a younger us) and then just as I was waking up I’d realised it was because he was dead and I didn’t know. So woke up crying. Anyway the dog and I went a very quick walk. Just us and the robins awake .
Back in and I usually just jump back into bed. Was actually milder when we were out than it was a couple of hours later.Drove way to other end of town to pick something up from FB marketplace. A very nice lady who complimented me on coming so promptly!Went to Lidl as down that end of town anyway. Got a few things RTC. A second gammon joint for Christmas Day to go in freezer. And beef for steak pie tomorrow. There’s a chap that’s rough sleeping outside so I asked about him at the till. It’s so blooming cold. And I don’t often have any cash on me but I had change as I’d to take cash out to pay the lady. But I think I may have also given him my trolley coin in the loose change I gave him.Nipped to charity shop ( and had meant to lift a couple of bags I’ve got to go out) and got a nice cable knit jumper and a pair of jeans.Home and hello doggy ,another very quick walk and then I hoovered half the beach out my car.
Picked up friend and off we went to castle for afternoon tea. A nice treat for both of us. Weathers been bright though blooming freezing so it all looked very lovely. Came home with a few little cakes.Had a macaroni meal thingy…I wouldn’t use ready meals every night and really only buy them if they are reduced. It was okay…had it with peas, cabbage and cauliflower. Last wee scrape of apple crumble from yesterday ( which was really just a little one)8 -
For yesterday,
Usual Monday morning of a trip into horsey town for a food shop, quick coffee and a catch up with my pal.
Ticked a few admin type jobs off my list and completed a few surveys. Also changed over the mantlepiece decs from an autumn theme to a winter one, days march away.
It was a cold, wet day so lunch was a big bowl of chicken soup.
Over to see the beautiful grey one although she looked distinctly bedraggled coming in after being out in the rain all day, cold as well so rough towel’d her down and popped on stable rug. Still waiting on blood test results which certainly isn’t a pleasure ☹️By the time I got home Capt S was back and the house was warm & cosy with the lamps on and human & canine loved ones waiting for me, counting blessings.6 -
I have been collecting pleasures over the last few days, so thought I should post them really.
1 tried to tidy at least a bit, it’s like things group up to get where they are going, still.
2 Had to run a few errands in the car, so also did a bad mse thing by “just popped into Aldi to check if their good mince pies where back in stock, they weren’t, but they did have half price, mince x 2, wagyu burgers, whole chickens, casserole, all stashed in the freezer.
3 Chop and veg parcel cooked up, served with cheat pasta in a hm cheese sauce.
4 Watching an old Jules Verne movie.
5 I was ignoring black fri, however some things I was going to buy anyway, have been reduced half price and I have a discount on top handily.
Spent a long-time weeding and getting mulch down. But had to keep coming in for tea to warm up as I got cold right through, the birds where happy when I stopped and put some extra food out for them.
It was a beautiful moon.
Cooked up the reduced whole chicken for a lovely Sunday roast.
Popped various curtains in the wash and re hung up to dry.
1 Masses of washing loads, our bedding, their bedding, our clothes, curtains, a pleasure when done and it’s still on the go at the mo.
2 I’ve happened across what seems like a wonderful Welsh small holding selling meat boxes, I’m hoping to try.
3 Meal planned for aa while.
4 I’m rather embarrassed to say I went to move my shopping order happily by a few days but forgot to check out, and voila it arrived today, ah well at least it was a shop and not a 40-pound roast joint or something.

Hello. Bedtime! And I’m ready for it!
Up through night when a picture fell off the wall. Bit of a clunk and was wide awake!Walked to supermarket. Met mums NDN out for a dog walk so quick chat with her. Was a very crisp morning ( aka blooming freezing!)
Went to old work and had a scone. And a few nice chatters.
Walked home. Quick doggy walk.
Puppy was dropped off for an hour or so.
Had a snoozette
Made dinner. We had ( in honour of St Andrew’s Day on Thursday) Haggis with nachos on salad. Salad was RTC. Haggis was crumbled over nachos, with cheese, onions and peppers. I had it without the haggis. Then steak pie. Used a pack of diced beef and a pack of RTC sausages done in slow cooker with RTC puff pastry and lots of veggies and RTC roast parsnips. Then pudding was a nod to a Cranachan with a base of caramelised oats, cream, meringue and RTC raspberries. Irn Bru to drink. Much chatter and nonsense.
Then they all left. Dog and I let out a big sigh and tidied up.Big moon very high in the sky and lots stars and heavy frost already.6 -
Your get together meals always sound so tasty Mhags
For yesterday,
A coffee out with my new friend, a debilitating illness means she can’t do too much at any one time but we had a little trip out to the farm shop cafe.
Quick lunch then over to see the beautiful grey one, sorted out her feed bins then snuggled her down with a thick stable rug on.
The sun setting on one horizon with the moon rising on the other, magical.
Sara C on the radio made me laugh with a comment about cord trousers “ they’re like a contraceptive with a zip “ she said, I like wearing cords in the winter 😆
Very much enjoyed the GBBO final, worthy winner.

Morning all.
It's turned a lot colder here and we are forecast snow at the weekend but it's lovely and sunny today, clear blue sky, just right.
Recent pleasures:
1) Inch by inch my home has been cleaned/polished/painted as necessary in readiness for our visitors. It's scrubbing up very nicely and part of me wishes I was domesticated enough to keep it at this level all the time, unfortuntately it generally gets a qiick lick and a polish most of the time and the 'big clean' before people come. Anyway, we are just about there on the cleaning front, now to sort the food.....
2) A ride out to the garden centre as we needed a wreath holder thingy for the glass door. Quick look at the Christmas stuff but it was very busy so didn't linger.
3) The trees are mostly bare now and we had a journey back through pretty bleak and bare countyside just as the sun was going down in a wintry sky. Always makes me feel very nostalgic.
4) Son's partner and daughter came in to look at my Christmas decorations and plans were made for a girlie day out in the run up to Christmas. That'll be fun.
5) Through necessity my Christmas decs have gone up very, very early this year but evenings with the tree twinkling and the candles lit are proving to be a big pleasure.
A day to make lists and get sorted today then an afternoon with my library book - by coincidence it's just won the Booker Prize so I'll need to get it finished as it's due back shortly and there'll be a waiting list now so no chance of renewing. It's very, very good so need to crack on.
Have a good day whatever you are up to.4 -
Another day of blooming freezing!Out with niece first thing, was -5o on the drive over. Nice (child free) catchup! Sat and chatted for a couple of hours. Handed over advent gifts.Home and hello doggy!Quick phone call to sister.Had a work meeting this afternoon. Very interesting.
Grabbed a bag of chips for tea on way back.Picked up the pup. Walked up and back. Blinking chilly!Chatter with DD2 when she came to collect him. I was literally just home five minutes before she arrived.Been waiting for a delivery which has just arrived so can head to bed!6 -
Good morning. Gosh it's cold! Has been the last two days, but at least it's bright. Much better than the grey, low-sky days. And the sun does help to warm our south facing lounge.
The slow cooker has been busy. A chilli, a soup and a rice pudding. A friend recommended using coconut milk in rice pudding. I'd had a tin for ages so I used that to replace some of the milk. It was really rich and creamy. Will be doing that again !
Started some tentative Christmas sorting. Have changed the cushion covers and throws to wintry colours. Gradually moving some houseplants and ornaments to the spare bedroom ( or bin in some cases) to make space for decorations. Still three weeks to go though and we tend to be fairly low key anyway.
Tried to do an online food shop yesterday and it all went wrong! No idea why but I cancelled the lot and will try again today
Onward and upward 😀
Happy brrr day everyone

For yesterday,
Woke up to a heavy frost and hungry! Scrambled egg on toast for breakfast.
Out to independent pet store, picked up small dogs food plus a new coat for her as she’s feeling the cold in her old age, warm & waterproof with a handy fluorescent strip, she will be as snug as a bug.Nice day with plenty of sunshine, Postie came with some Etsy purchases.
Chilli with baked spuds for tea.
My latest book is a tad gory, well more than a tad so not feeling the love for reading it in bed at nights, decided to read the Winter section from The Magic Apple Tree again, just right for when you’re snuggled down.6 -
Hello another cold day here but the big moon is high in the sky and I can see it as I type. I do like the moon.
Up early.
Went to castle had a nice walk.Had some work stuff to do. Again very interesting and helpful.Popped up to see DD2 for half an hour in way back.Hello doggy. Let’s get that fire lit! So we did.Tidied up ( not that it gets that bad as it’s just me but it’s now tidier)
Watched new drama series on channel 4 which was good. Watched final episode.
Enjoying the glow of candle light and tree light! And of course the moonlight.4
