5 OS pleasures in your day today - part 3

Hi everyone.
Sounds like you had a great birthday, PK, after the best-ever birthday pressie.
Lainey, hope everything turns out to be ok with your girl.
Recent pleasures:
1) Just like 'real life' on here isn't it?! Good news, not so good, happy times, not so happy times, in sickness and in health and all that. Such a pleasure to be able to support and celebrate and share just a little of each others' lives. A lovely place to be,
2) Slowly, slowly my house is being cleaned and decluttered - mainly in boxes in the summer house so a delayed non-pleasure will be sorting them all out after the Christmas 'do' a week on Sunday. In the meantime I am starting - again - to get some idea of how my home could look.....
3) Lovely cosy evenings, curled up nice and warm with some lovely candles collected over the year - chestnut, orange rind and brown sugar last night, good enough to eat!
4) The skip was packed tight and has now gone so it looks a bit less like a builder's yard doen the side and we can get tidied up outside before the bad weather - this is the royal 'we' as hubby can get on with that while I sort my candle cupboard!
5) Diet and exercise camplaign is going well, lots of walking and tasty, healthy meals. Why is it so easy when you finally get your head in the right place and so hard if not impossible when it's not!
Getting all the Christmas decs down from the loft today, will get them sorted and then up at the weekend. FAR too early but we need to look like a winter wonderland by next weekend so they will be up very very early this year. Not feeling it yet by any means.
Hope you have a good day whatever you are up to.7 -
Eeek! Should have proof read, sorry!!6

Had a very quiet day. Puppy from 8.15-12.30 and then all I’ve done is hoovered! Still need to wash floors and clean bathroom ( as in I put cleaning stuff down loo and sink when I was last upstairs 😆)
Weathers been rather ghastly.
Chatted with sister.Made a work call. Arranged something for next week.Cuddles with my dog…who was being extra cuddly incase the pup got more attention than he did!8 -
1 Talk about like minds, I caught up with friends having a rough time, so gathered some bits for a feel-good parcel and sent it off for them today, and when I got back today a lovely little hamper from them also turned up for us aww.
2 We went for what turned into a long walk as we talked to everyone as we had 2 ferrets with us.
3 An easy tea, RTC’s of quiche and ham, with mash and salad on the plate.
4 Engrossed in the Christmas Nigel slater book.
5 There might have been a nap.

For yesterday,
Into town for a food shop and saw my young friend riding out in one of the strings of racehorses, she waved liked mad and then all her mates waved too, made me laugh.
Dropped into garage and used the car wash voucher that I had from the other day when it broke down on the car in front of me, the mini is clean!
Over to nearby market town to see family, helped eldest niece decorate her salon for festive season and then off to lunch with DSIL and youngest niece, a lovely catch up. Looked in some CS’s and picked up a Val Mac book I hadn’t read.
Driving home and the sun setting across the flat, fenland landscape.
A little, ploddy dog that doesn’t want to go too far on a cold, dark night so just a quick sniff around the beech trees then turn for home.

Good afternoon. Sunny now and big Billy wind has dropped.
Tying of loose ends continues. New driving licences applied for online. Here now so old ones cut up and returned.
More presents bought and got some ideas for the rest. We are a small family but it still takes some thinking about each year!
Looked at some Black Friday offers but nothing special on things we need.
Decided to make Florentines! Don't think I'll bother again! They're ok, I suppose, but expensive ingredients ( nuts are very expensive!) didn't turn out all that special. Will stick to my favourite oatie biscuits ( very cheap too😃)
As it's sunny, I'm going out to cut down some ivy and eucalyptus ready for next Sunday's wreath making session.
Happy 🌞 day everyone8 -
Hello! It’s a bit quiet round here! Hope everyone’s alright and just busy!Awake at 4.15am, saw the grit lorry go by, very quick doggy walk at 4.30am though it wasn’t particularly frosty at that time. But stars in the sky and just a wee robin singing.
Nice chat to DD1, she’s doing well out on placement. We’ve booked in our mince pie making session!Up to castle with my doggy boy, enjoyed a bacon roll and a lovely walk! Blue sky and birdsong. And blooming freezing!Home briefly.
Friend unwell so popped over to see her. Then it was puppy time.Gathered some greenery from the garden and wrapped it round my charity shop wreath. Which cost me £2.75. It all looks rather splendid even if I say so myself! My mentor phoned me twice. And I had my first work email! Woohoo! ( the one I sent to myself as a test didn’t count!)
DD2 stayed for about half an hour for a chat when she was picking up her boy.Catching up on GBBO an extra slice episodes. It makes me laugh!8 -
For yesterday,
Busy morning, changed bed, cleaned bathrooms and made a loaf of bread, Capt S was working from home and came downstairs sniffing the air, just like a Bisto kid ☺️Had lunch together, hadn’t happened all week.
Over to the yard, cold cold with a keen wind that made my eyes water. Another session of groundwork then cosied my girlie up in her stable, added a warm neck attachment to her stable rug as temps meant to drop low overnight.Driving home and seeing festive lights starting to twinkle in people’s homes.
Meatball and mozzarella gnocchi bake for tea, very yum and enjoyed a glass of wine too.7 -
Morning all.
The weekend again, where did this week go?! Beautiful day here, cold but blue skies and sunny. We've got a lot to do but am determined we will get out somewhere for a walk and a cuppa this afternoon, there will be plenty of grey winter days to hibernate so we must make the most of it while we can.
Not a lot going on here apart from cleaning and sorting but there are pleasures always:
1) Far too early but we have our Christmas tree and decorations up in readiness for hosting the Christmas family get-together next weekend. Need to concentrate this week on sorting food, drinks, final bits of cleaning, etc and some other stuff going on so we bit the bullet and did it. A big job done and a tick in the box.
2) Hate doing the tree normally but it went well this time, it's straight and hubby got the lights evenly spaced. Bittersweet pleasure decorating it, we don't have a 'theme', it all goes on - decorations my bairn made at nursery school, very old baubles that my mum and dad had on my first Christmas tree, the lot, so lots of memories, some tears and lots of smiles. It looks, as usual, totally over the top and gorgeous. The pleasure is that, now the tears are out of the way, I can look at it and remember very, very happy days.
3) Walked every day this week with my lad, feeling fitter so we are covering more ground and lovely to have a daily hour of 1:1 chats. Won't get many chances for the next couple of weeks but will enjoy it while we can. We have always been very close and lovely that he still chooses to spend time with me.
4) Have been enjoying my scented candles but yesterday hubby found a forgotten about box of tall, ivory pillar candles leftover from our wedding (2008)!! Lit one last night and it was just beautiful, a very calm, steady flame and a 'proper' candle.
5) Back to reality and hubby, bless him, has looked at the 'to do' list and volunteered himself to deep clean the bathrooms. He is currently gathering his equipment, old toothbrushes and all. The pleasure is that not only did he volunteer, not only is he doing them, but he has the patience to do a much more thorough job than me. And that will be another tick in the box. I have a cake to make so will let him scrape the bowl and we will both be happy!
Right, coffee break over, better crack on if we want to go out and play this afternoon.
Hope your day is good, whatever you are up to.9 -
