For yesterday,
Sloggus domesticus done first then took small dog for a walk along the back of some of the racing studs, her max walking time these days is an hour but she enjoyed the different sniffs and we met two friendly Norfolk terriers.
Chat with DSIL and plans made for a meet up next week.
Time spent with the beautiful grey one, lunged and did some groundwork, she was a good girl but half her mind was on the hay net waiting in her stable.
Driving home and the late afternoon sun was hitting the tops of the trees, highlighting them gold against the black clouds behind, stunning.
Tea and something new to me as I’d picked up one of those recipe cards in the emporium, Apple, Blue Cheese and Shallot tart, very tasty and Capt S said yes please to having again.7 -
Morning all, just written a post but can’t have pressed post!
Hope all went well PK.
slowly returning to the land of the living!Food shopping on Monday (first time for nearly 3 weeks). Defrosted old f/f cleaned and partially restocked. We’ve had mystery unlabelled pots for dinner the last 2 nights, but turned out ok.
Met friend for a quick lunch and a brief walk in the park yesterday. Beautiful autumn 🍂 colours.
Checked out the holly as sister needs some for a wreath making course next month, it was quite abundant so will be able to snitch a little.
Still have another 10 days of antibiotics and have very little energy. 4 hospital appointments have come through (2 were both on the 1 day that I absolutely can’t do, so now rearranged). The respiratory nurse also contacted me yesterday. I am feeling a lot better so onwards and upwards!Have a great Wednesday everyone 😘7 -
Good morning. Very grey again.
P Kitten - hope all is going as it should be. X
Paulie H. - pleased there is some improvement. Now be very careful not to over do things. These virus things are very sneaky and will come back at any opportunity!
As it's so grey I cleaned the South facing windows. My usual excuse of ' can't clean windows when the sun is on them ' really wouldn't work today.
Before that I managed to knock over my coffee. Only about a quarter of a mug, but managed to go over the side of the settee and a big patch of carpet. That took some sorting out so I think that and the windows is more than enough cleaning for one day!
Might see if I can make another mini stocking for my Christmas bunting. At the current rate it won't be ready by Easter!
Happy grey day everyone.8 -
Thinking of PK
Pleasures recently
1. decorating started and nearly finished but we've had to push the carpet back to next week. Can't wait to be back in 'my' room and 'my' bed.
2. while OH is decorating (I'm decorator's 'mate' - i.e. chief tea maker and fetcher of stuff), i've been spring cleaning various rooms. The conservatory, particularly, was crying out for it and it looks so much better
3. a shopping day with DD - bits for new bedroom.
4. and.. lunch with DD and OH
5. our chimney space in ICT has been plastered - at last. Now the wait for the wood burner.
Have a great day all.I wanna be in the room where it happens7 -
Thank you, it's lovely to see the comments on here, I’m home, things aren’t as positive as we were hoping, there will be more surgery needed, but we are still hoping for good news.
1-5 The amazing care of the NHS day staff.
6 It is lovely to be home it was a very late discharge from hospital yesterday evening, a shot of anti sickness and then some oramorph, and I was gradually wobbling about, I’m not as bad as I thought I might feel but feel today like want to do more than I can yet.
7 Shouting answers at pointless.
8 While waiting in a lovely, padded recliner yesterday, I got completely engrossed in a Terry Pratchett novel.
9 DH is cooking dinner!
10 As always animal cuddles of course.

Glad you’re home PK take care and rest.I’ve just came up to bed as I will sit and read…said that last night didn’t I? Zzzzzz….finished that book this morning and half way through another ( easy to read paperback)
Anyway I actually slept till just after 5am this morning! It’s been a couple of weeks at least since I’ve done that. But (whilst touching some wood) although I’ve been waking earlier I’ve been sleeping better.Out with dog in the wind and the rain!Appointment at tip first thing. Stuff from garage. Work in progress.
Then having and a mercy text from DD2 ( who’s not very well and had run out of loo roll) over to hers with loo roll, tissues, cough sweets and a bunch of roses. Because sometimes I’m a lovely mother!Home and tackled a big think that needed tackling. I’m such a blooming procrastinator. Anyway…waiting for a confirmation email…or not! Then it brightened up but a very cold wind and I had to drop car off for MOT so had a walk downhill into town…and of course had to walk back uphill!Car passed. Hurrah!Spent a whole pound. A set of lovely Christmas tree baubles…me I do NOT need anything this year. They had two stickers on them one saying bric a brac £6 and the other saying Christmas decor £1…got them for a pound!Picked up car, stopped at supermarket. They had Halloween tops RTC at a pound. So got my great nephews sorted out for next year! ( note to 2024 self remember!) Met friend as I was doing out so stood and chatted. Only saw her on Friday so was just a short catch up!Anyway home and hello doggy!Watched Bake off with a dog on my knee.Started new book.Made a crust less quiche , was alright. I ate it! Had plenty veg with it too. Then decided I’m heading to bed and means I can put the heating off and save a pound or so!8 -
P Kitten - so pleased you're home. Always a good thing. Not sure what you think you should be doing more of, but dont! Rest and more rest. Please xx7

Thanks for letting us know how it went PK, yes yes to resting up now!For yesterday,
A grey & wet day so indoor chores only, as always the pleasure is when it’s done.
Did do a sort of that drawer in kitchen, old receipts shredded, cracker presents from gone by years disposed of and found two rolls of new sellotape that I didn’t know we had!
Meet up with referral from Befriending Network, went well and arrangements made to meet again. Very local and more my age but with a debilitating illness that prevents much of life that I take for granted.
Started a new to me book, one of Peter May’s.
Good old Spag Bol for tea, another two portions for the freezer.6 -
Good morning all.
Funny day here weather-wise - we live on top of a hill and the view one way is grey and rainy and the other bright and sunny. I shall face the sun!
PK - lovely to hear from you and to know you are home. As everyone else has said, lots of rest and recuperation now.
Some pleasures:
1) A lovely day out at the Christmas Market, some high quality locally-made produce, bought a fab candle - chestnut, spiced orange and brown sugar. Smells good enough to eat!
2) Nor normally a fan of Yorkshire pudding but we had Christmas Dinner Yorkshire pudding wraps for lunch, complete with pigs in blankets, stuffing, cranberry and apple sauces and gravy. Very messy but very delicious.
3) Cup of tea and a selection of homemade fudges in the afternoon. In my defence we only had a slice of toast for a very late tea when we got home. Still full today!
4) Son's partner popped in when we got back, I have been teaching her to knit and she is starting a bit more complicated pattern so went through the stitches, shapings, etc she will need to do. Also a lesson in picking up dropped stitches. Turned into more of a natter than knit session though!
5) Booked in for a routine health check this afternoon. Not a pleasure particularly but hopefully a clean bill of health. When I went for my shingles and pneumonia jabs the practice nurse did a double take when I said I take no regular medications, said that was highly unusual 'at my age'. Hoping it stays that way!
Couple of bits to do this morning while hubby is out set- building then a clear afternoon after the health check thing to catch up with some reading.
Hope you have a good day whatever you are up to.8 -
Art'noon all
Pleasures for yesterday
1. Curtains for new bedroom arrived - they will do very well
2. Went for a swim. The plan is to swim and yoga at least once a week each - with walking and some stretches in between
3. read some of my book club book. Finally into it - it's taken a while. I have a week in which to finish it
4. An afternoon with my boy (who's been on half nights for a week so we've hardly seen him). Watched 'the hobbit' film (first one) and Welcome to Wrexham
5. Lit the fire and shut the world outside.
Have a good evening allI wanna be in the room where it happens6
