5 OS pleasures in your day today - part 3

For yesterday,
My phone rang at 8.45am to say that garage had done car, apparently a wire had corroded causing the problem, Capt S dropped me in the village to save the walk down to pick it up,
Another foul day weather wise and the horses were in, I spent a couple of hours at the yard grooming my girl, cleaning tack and chatting to my pal, it’s such a sociable place to be as well as great facilities / hacking and no more worrying what mood the owner will be in that day, makes such a difference!
A cup of tea and a hotxbun.
Listened to the footie, we won 2 nil away from home, may well be too little too late to prevent relegation but much needed all the same.
Snorkers for tea, we just had them in a roll with fried onions, very nice.7 -
🤲😇🤩Nelliegrace - what lovely pleasures!

Can't believe I'll be tippy-tapping quickly here after big, crazy yesterday.
1. Started with continuation of reassurance+action to friend whose email had been hacked. & had responded to '&, could I possibly ask a quick favour?' which threw up no alerts and was not unreasonable. All slowly coming right, but v.alarming and plausible. It's via a rogue BT bot invasion. So, heads-up generally, maybe?
2. Vile weather continued, but car was slowly loaded with Raffle Harridan's prizes and all the equipment needed for this inaugural Papa John's Community Cup home match day. What a palaver! New Doblo msg - 'Limited range'. Yes, & knew, so diesel taken en route. At Club, drenching continued during heavy unloading, so & did a bit of helpless little old lady.😁 Opposing players commandeered, so everything progressed indoors.
3. Just hearing that 5-6hr coach delays are ongoing at Dover. That'll hit the lovely, LOVELY French boys returning, after playing our 3s yesterday. They arrived almost late, after hitting Town of Gown the night before, still won 68-26, were likely hitting boîte de nuit Vinyl hier soir after much singing and helping AND RAFFLE WINNING.🤩 They were a total joy. Helped clean up, got stuck in completely, loved being with us - 💕Mutual!💕 - and & happily babbling in French all day, as and when......
4. We'll call this a stand-alone, expanding on 3. All the touring team, Centrale Supelec, were intrigued by an OAP kiwi & speaking français, about which they were 😊 blushingly complimentary. Of course it was &'s joy too. &'s large 3 litre amphora-style jar of long-macerated h-g figs intrigued Thibaud, who also has a fig tree chez lui. He absolutely wanted to win &'s, spurring more raffle ticket sales.😃
Come the draw, tout annoncé en français bien sûr, & involved nos invités.😁 First 3 draws, no claimants present, so later phoned. 4th draw! Pas croyable! OUI, c'était Thibaud! Forward he rushed amid entire rugby family cheering to claim the figs! They disappeared, with more compliments and much discussion. &'s last time with them, before delivering a prize to Linton, was singing upstairs with them all and teaching them various Chansons de La Legion Etrangère, astounded they didn't know them!https://youtu.be/QC6-AhOmnCk
5. 2 hwbs again hier soir - an osp never to be tired of and always on tap!

Morning everyone, sparkling and sunny here but I bet it's cold outside!
Some Sunday pleasures:
1) A nice, relaxed start to the day, feel like I've hit the ground running every day this week. Nobody 'on site' today for a change so drinking coffee still in my dressing gown. Definitely not a morning person!
2) My half- made patio is taking shape, a change of plan - again - yesterday whilst chatting to the builders and now I am very thrilled with how it's going to be. There's also a nice space for a raised bed so I can dabble in veg/salad growing again.
3) Sorting more 'treasures' for my summerhouse - only putting in it things that make me very happy. I've got my dad's old stool from his greenhouse, I can so picture him sitting on it tending his tomatoes and enjoying the warmth. It is really old and worn, it was obviously painted at some stage but most of the paint has worn off, it was his dad's before him. Perfect next to my reading chair to hold a pile of books, nice to sit with my hand touching it.
4) Son's partner's car has been in the garage since Thursday, won't be back till Tuesday as some parts are on back order. Obviousy not a pleasure and the bill won't be either, but I was able to offer her the use of mine as I don't drive it very often now so it's more like a pool car!
5) Had a busy couple of weeks and the boys are now on holiday for a fortnight and the builders back tomorrow to start roof removing so we are having an afternoon out by ourselves today - the calm before the storm. Lots of places round here re-opened this weekend including our favourite garden so we will go and look for spring flowers, if hubby behaves himself I might let him treat me to lunch out so best go and get dressed!
Happy Sunday.

Pleasures for today (Sunday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) It hasn't rained yet today !!!
3) Did usual chores this morning.
4) Went to M and S. Fewer pots of tea these days (sad times) so had an orange juice and did lots of Arabic.
5) Sat out in the garden with the cat for an hour or so and grabbed the trowel to remove a few thistles that had seeded from next doors. (Not recently. This was when the people before had it and didn't garden for 4 years).
6) There will be meatballs and wraps for tea, made yesterday. I'm going to catch up with Gogglebox first.5 -
mhagster - <blush> very belated happy birthday! Chap gets bringing laundry in? Most impressed. Sending big texts when opportunity permits, oh yes. Blossom & daffs are good things.Frith - fingers so crossed for house move! Touched how your chess club works to keep a little girl engaged. No more tea? But if no more complex March, fair enough. Quite a start to April at Park Run! Have you deciphered what was written on you?Highdays - loving the sound of the summerhouse emerging. Especially dad's old stool.Purple kitten - working glasses are astonishingly worth it! Inspiration can indeed be gravity powered. Love the idea of 4 pawed help in the garden.LaineyT - love you steering a courier in! Lungeing before rain - excellent timing. Eeep, car! Love the sound of a hotxbun.Happycas - a cold is to share. (Learned from my generous, creative, ooozing children.) If you must come down with something, now while spring is cheering you up & yet hot water bottles are still de rigeur, is the time.PaulieHerts - OH will cope. You've trained him carefully, have the food ready - Enjoy your time off!ampersand - victorious over NotSpot - will go listen to Dara on DID as Barbers Adagio for Strings was 'Our Song' - will be interested to hear how it made his list. "did a bit of helpless little old lady" then completely foxing the touring team in the best ways (and teaching Them songs)!Nelliegrace - splendid pleasures! Hoping the blossom does bring fruit.
villagelife - if you need to pull the duvet over your head & hide, that's fine. Maybe leave a note so the rest of your family can see so they are more thoughtful before climbing in under with you?OS recentlyCoz on walk spotted crittur, then IDed as a newt. Later Fink-Nottle inclined friend advised from photo distinctly pregnant newtScouts playing “Moo!” trying to make each other laugh… they’re nose to nose & blissfully silly! The 90th birthday party that was just amazing, despite the host needing a quick once over from paramedics in the first hour & making a glorious entrance to rousing applause when he arrived in hall. His family touchingly grateful to me for a ruthless line in distraction & badinage... I got him to laugh & that eased some anxieties in a way medical expert friends didn’t.Tucking mum in as she used to tuck me, a special moment between us. Preceded by vigorous gestures, as once her hearing aids are out, language is wasted. Now preparing to go on a walk. Coat, hat? Stick, phone? We mother each other & chuckle… Mum delighted by all the emerging yellows of spring, me by her alert curiosity & competent walking! The sight of mother & son well stuffed & affectionate over emptied plates of lasagne.Got a terse “email system almost full” message - deleted all the auto generated copies of notes & thus wiped over two thousand messages to Himself. Happily all shorter versions of the real one.Couldn’t tell you why but went & had a look at the order of service for Himself & was much comforted that the photos did him justice & reflected some of his skills. We got home & heard what sounded like a bad tempered rodent in an echo chamber - turned it was Middleson tiling & declaring himself “occupied” (mixing grout while sat on the loo - seemed a reasonable term).Penning thankyou letter for birthday party & thinking really, completely spoiled for the traditional jelly & pass-the-parcel sort! Deliberately not mentioning the floorshow as party splendid both because and despite.Health Strength Love & Courage to all as have need, plus lots of flexible clothing to accomodate the joys of Spring & the sudden coolth & wet that includes...7 -
Hello. And the first big worky day is done and dusted. One to go. It was glorious having last weekend off but needs must I suppose.I am fortunate that I can manage just working two days a week. I do without some things to accommodate this ( by choice) and live a fairly simple and quiet life ( again by choice) anyway first day done.
Was a cold and frosty start to the day which surprised me. Had to defrost windscreen before heading off. It was the most beautiful sunrise.
The day was busy and we were kept going.A bit of laughter and chatter.Okay tips! More than I got last week ( none 😆)
Home to sort some things out with DD2. It’s moving out week and I think she’s a mix of excited and overwhelmed. I’m
just ready for some quiet which I think I will like for a few days and then it will be too quiet. So a big adjustment for us both.Anyway I have a much tidier airing cupboard and empty kitchen cupboards!Lovely to see my dog boy. I think he senses somethings happening. So big cuddles with him.8 -
1. Broken tooth not giving me any pain at all, even with icecream.
2. Sunshine
3. Oh went out so I got a chance to watch an old black and white film.
4. Went out later to catch up with my sister, took our own coffees to the park and sat in the sun.
5. Coop was still open on my way home so managed to buy some eggs and some icecream.
6. The 5 mile walk in the sunshine felt better than the lazy morning.working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?8 -
1 Grilled bacon sarnie for brekkie, and a pork roast for dinner.
2 Actual warm sunshine.
3 Bird feeders cleaned and re stocked up.
4 I disappeared down a rabbit hole looking for inspiration for DHs birthday – thou still haven’t found the right thing yet.
5 Meal planned and remembered to take the meat out of the freezer today to go with it.

Your summerhouse sounds lovely Highdays and the perfect home for all your treasures.
For yesterday,
Early cloud floated off and we had lots of lovely sunshine.
The usual start of bacon butties and catching up on all things Ambridge.
Time spent in the garden, tidied up my herb pots and cosseted them with new compost, looks like my parsley didn’t make it but everything else ok. Also cleared out an old planter and found three very small carrots that had been missed when picking. Washed newly repaired car.
Back inside mid afternoon, enjoyed our lunch then watched two episodes of Magpie Murders with the wonderful Lesley Manville.
Evening walk with beloved and small dog, heard the first skylark of the year, high above the field.9 -
Hello! Work is over and done with for the week! Hurrah!Alarm clock woke me up this morning. It’s always set in a work day but I usually wake before it goes off.Watched a beautiful sun rise Almost full moon out the back! Lovely! In at work a wee bit earlier so I could leave mid morning. Nice chats with both of our bakers who were dropping stuff off.Nipped home. Hello doggy. The chap was here so I didn’t need to come but I wanted to. Hung out my washing.
Back to work and it was a tad busy!Tips. Meh! But more than I had this morning. Laughter and chatter in amongst the madness! We seem to have developed a way of communicating without actually speaking! Usually a raised eyebrow 😏😜
And home! Sigh! A doggy waiting at the porch for me coming home. Out for a quick wee.Home to a birthday gift from DD1. A very nice pair of socks with platypuses on them 🇦🇺And what a beautiful evening. Blackbirds are singing. Sky is blue. Ducks have been overhead. Washing all dried and folded. One more night of a full house!5
