Villagelife, I'm so sorry to hear of your loss.
1 We both needed eye tests, so off to Costco we pondered, my eyes have changed a fair bit, I will admit we spend a bit on them as we wear them all the time and they double as sunglasses when needed. It will be nice to be able to read properly again. AL
2 I have to say we didn’t much feel like spending more but we did get pizza!
3 Picked up the second set of curtains.
4 A trip to Ikea and trying to find their short cuts, ah the disappointment when their floor video game in the childrens toy area wasn’t active, as it’s fun jumping around on the floor like to fully grown lunatics. Their recycling area was useful thou.

Great news on the house Frith.
For yesterday,
Think we have kestrels nesting again in one of the large beech trees, the adults teaching the juveniles to fly kept us entertained last year.
Long chat with my bf.
Phone rang again, hello, this is courier, I can’t find you, we are tricky and doesn’t help that satnav sends them other side of bypass roundabout! All sorted and my parcel was a good Ebay purchase.
Out in the evening, pub in the next village on that does Thai food. Not much parking but my pal & I demonstrated the advantage of small cars as we squeezed both of ours into a spot meant for one.
Lovely evening with lovely friends, lots of laughter and do you remembers, good for the soul.9 -
Good afternoon. A bit of sun now and again but mostly grey here
Tuesday - had a bad head cold so mostly drooped about feeling sorry for myself. Not dreadful really but bad enough to stop me doing anything productive.
Wednesday - started to feel better. Out to shops and for coffee with DH in the morning. He suggested going out for lunch but I'd really lost my appetite so decided against that. Poodled about a bit in the afternoon and then went to floristry. Last lesson and we were doing wreaths, my favourites, so I was determined not to miss it. It's been a great course and I've learnt a lot. In fact, DD suggested doing the same course in autumn to refresh our skills.
And now today DH has my cold!, so he's taken to his bed! Am making shepherd's pie for tea. Always his first choice when under the weather ( mine is fish pie!) Comfort food taking us back to childhood.
So I'm finding lots of quiet things to do this afternoon. Reading and crochet should do it!
Happy Thursday everyone

A nice morning then a stinky mid afternoon then a lovely evening!A kind of quieter day but was taken out for lunch by my friend which was very nice and very kind.Away out in the countryside. Saw lambs and lots of geese and ducks!Excellent service and very tasty. And of course much chatter as we ate.Home and as it had started to rain the chap had brought the washing in. And he and hung it all up but I think I’d have chanced leaving it out as it did brighten back up! Anyway it’s in and hanging everywhere. And I’ve not put the heating on today.Nice messages from a friend this morning. Catching up on each others news.Dog cuddles. Always a pleasure.

Slightly belated Birthday wishes, mhags.
1 Popped out to run errands, picked up meds and a Screwfix order.
2 Over to lidls just in time to see someone empty the meat reduction area oh well can’t win every time, but what I would call a normal shop for us has just under doubled in price now.
3 Pondering in the kitchen for inspiration what to do with my bolognaise and it nigh on hit me in the face when a half full packet of tortillas fell out, so chilli it was.
4 Some very basic tidying.
5 I found some hidden aero bubbles, they aren’t hidden now.

Pleasures for today (Thursday). Quite a busy day in the end.
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Posted all the house paperwork I could find to the solicitor. Drew a little map for her of where the septic tank is. Did all the online stuff she sent me (more forms).
3) Bought stamps before the prices go up!
4) Cleared more of the house. Finally took all the old batteries to Sainsburys for recycling. Took some other stuff (toiletries) to the food bank collection point.
5) Got bigger son's remaining stuff together and took it to his house. He was waiting in for the boiler man, who never appeared. My parents and brother had gone to see his new house so we all had a cup of tea.
6) Had a chat with the neighbours, who appeared just in time to see me put lots of rat poison down!
7) Tidied up, cleaned the bathroom, did a load of washing.
8) Went to the cinema where I was a projectionist. I didn't watch the film (NT Life of Pi) but did lots of Arabic instead. One lady brought me up a cup of tea.
9) Bought a voucher from the cinema for bigger son's girlfriend's birthday present.
10) One for yesterday. At chess club there is a Ukrainian girl, aged 7. She is learning to play chess there and all the other players are men aged 50-80 and (rather like me) are not particularly chatty. Well, every week they do everything possible for this little girl, sorting out badges or a little prize and having matches with her. She is very talkative and ran round last night and hugged some of them before she went home! I had a match against T (who I think said he is 70) who plays in several teams and has a proper ranking. I am never going to beat him but he always manages to look as though he is having to think very hard and tells me which moves were good at the end of the game.7 -
For yesterday,
Weather much improved and most pleasant, into horsey town to meet elderly pal’s daughter plus two other people I didn’t know about! A nice way to spend an hour or so.
Baked the loaf that I’d left to prove and did a few surveys.
To the stables, got Missy in and gave her a groom. Thought about a walk around the fields but by this time very dark clouds were looming on horizon so lunged her instead, we had just finished when the heavens opened,
Capt S thought he would be late at a meeting but actually got away at 6pm so we could eat together, salmon & veg pasta.
Started watching the new series of Taskmaster but tired after late night before so recorded it and had an early night with my book.8 -
Morning all 😊
Belated birthday wishes to Mhagster and fingers crossed for your house move Frith.
Recent pleasures:
Gordon Buchanan talk and slide show was really good and nice meal beforehand.
Swimming twice this week, 32 lengths and lots of exercises. Swimming improving even if walking isn’t!
Out to local pub for OH’s birthday lunch on Wednesday. Very nice gammon, egg and chips and very yummy 😋 onion nests. Came home for homemade chocolate cake 🎂
OH is getting around easier with his boot on and crutches which is just as well as I’m off to Cornwall for 4 nights on Sunday with BF. Mixed feelings about it as leaving OH to cope and also the long drive down with my bad back and joints! She has a comfortable automatic car with heated seats and she will do the majority of the driving with me just doing an hour or so. We stop a lot as she has a little dog so will be able to stretch my legs. Leaving OH some homemade meals he can just put in the oven. My BF is good company so I’m sure it will be fine.
Have a good Friday and great weekend 😊6 -
As usual, it's taken umpteen attempts to post this, since trying nearly 12 hours ago:
1. Yesterday began with midweek Communion, ended with Passover supper, memorable in all good ways, despite noted speaker having to cancel at last minute through illness. We, CofE, followed the seder and learnt much. Very interesting and a heightened sense of sharing.
2. Yes Lainey, re: yesterday's weather. It's currently Drapelands in &squat. Was up on The Gallops when that lot crashed down and v.glad first load wasn't outside. This morning's final load will find a place somewhere. Was drenched coming in last night.
3. Working on Preview during osp2 and again till 0228h this morning. Had to ghost some failed-to-arrives. Still awaiting one, while in bed with tea. Panic wake-up earlier, then 'Ça va!' phew moment - it isn't Saturday......yet! Much to sort for fundraising tomorrow, only home match of the new national Papa John's Community Cup thingummy.
4. Quick CS call yesterday to support former colleagues. More than a magic wand is needed. Leaving, saw......yes! Another Fiat Doblo!❤️ Out came driver and happy exchange/mutual inspection ensued. More good learning curve for &. Chap loves his, but wishes it hadn't been lowered. &'s isn't. & is becoming an FD bore, happily so.😁
5. Have really enjoyed brekkie in bed this morning, with both hwbs still warm. Up for final Lent lunch soon. Just hearing Dara O'Brien's DIDs and Samuel Barber's Adagio for Strings in G Minor is more than fine by &.

It’s been a bright dry day today. Washing out and in almost dried.Had to pick up DD2 for a hospital appointment this morning. Actually managed to get a parking spot on the first drive round! We’d to wait an hour for her to be seen but sat and chattered.Sent aunt a big text whilst she was in and got a big reply back.Dropped her off and then popped into vets to pick up dogs meds. And home! And was going to garden but didn’t! Ended up dozing whilst watching something.Had a toastie for tea with the last of the lovely cheese I bought in the deli last Friday.7
