So sorry, villagelife, to hear the sad news about your dad. You will get a lot of comfort later from the fact that you were all able to be with him and that he was treated with such care and compassion.
Go steady x6 -
Village sorry to hear your sad news, thinking of you and your family.
Mhags - Happy Birthday, enjoy your slice of cake5 -
@villagelife just holding you & your family in my thoughts - the NHS is blinking marvellous at the crunch moments. Buy the stamps for all the forthcoming post Today - prices leap on April 3. Indeed buy double your first-thought-of number, if you can, as it's a strange but reliable saving, and you won't know how many orders of service you'll need or want to post.

(re: DFV's postal advice. I will follow it myself this week.)

Still Lego building. Another free lunch.Jen has

I work from home so my cat can be fed on demand!6 -
Pleasures for today (so far!) Wednesday.
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Ferritin has risen from a 5 to a 6. That is still atrocious but at least all the eating of steak is paying off. Still feel fine!
3) Went to B and Q for rat poison and limescale remover (I was questioned), the medical centre for smaller son's fit note then Boots for some more iron.
4) M and S for a pot of tea and to do some Arabic.
5) Whilst in M and S, I had a phone call from the other estate agent and the house is (in theory) mine !! The afternoon has been spent speaking to solicitors, filling in forms, taking photos of ID etc.
6) Parked outside the new house, went for a walk round the back to look at the lake then fussed the neighbour's cat. I hadn't really thought until now that the new house is the same number as my house now.
7) Saw my chess partner as I drove home and we had an enthusiastic wave to each other.
8) Spent a happy hour on the phone resetting my First Direct password... Glad that job is done.
9) I might go to chess later, hence posting now.8 -
😃Frith, that is wonderful news!👏💝👍
I've just had that 'same number' experience with Fiat Doblo and Meriva, too. First thing I noticed.🙂

1. Passed on DFV's postage stamp price jump reminder to several friends.
2. Medication review call happened when it was supposed to. Dr caller dug and dug, but & is just too busy to be ill.😁
3. Oldest Northern hemisphere Uni friend is off to daughter's finca in Portugal tomorrow, a quick Mother's Day extra, needed and deserved. 'See you next week' chats enjoyed in knowledge of pastel de nata+coffee brekkies ahead for them both. 😋
4. Preview work underway. Quick but good catch-ups with 2 players and Coaches at Club last night. Saturday will be hairy vs Havant, as will raffle.😁
5. Exiting one theatre foyer hier soir, only to cross paths with our Club Chairman and wife. & had been misdirected for Town of Gown Corn Exchange to Town of Gown Arts Theatre. They were seeing Charlotte and Theodore.
https://www.cambridgeartstheatre.com/whats-on/charlotte-and-theodore
& was seeing an ad hoc piece of theatre on Remarkable and Forgotten Cambridge women: Dorothy Buxton/née Jebb, Clara Rackham, Leah Manning, Florence Ada Keynes, Eglantyne Jebb and The Uncredited One - an unnamed local journalist and traveller woman. Quite something.

Hello again.
mhagster - Happy Birthday wishes, sounds like you've had a lovely day filled with all good things.
frith - so pleased for you, seems that house was for you all the way along! Hope everything now goes smoothly and you can look forward to moving in and getting settled.
Today's pleasures:
1) My summerhouse arrived early - well before 8am, yawn! - and was quickly up and looks like it's always been there.
2) Started 'dressing' it already and had a lovely sit in it this afternoon and maybe a little doze as had to get up so early this morning. Not for long though as it's been a pretty damp and chilly day here.
3) Double-glazing man came to measure bi-folds, rooflights, etc in the big house. Why do these people all have such fantastic ideas designed to tempt us into parting with our cash?!
4) Seems our original structural engineer has shut shop so luckily have been pointed in the direction of a couple of others and hopefully will get the calculations for the extra steel quite quickly. The roof will be done first anyway so that buys us a bit of time, final measurements and a shopping list for that were done this afternoon. Two-thirds of the new kitchen/diner will have no roof at all for a while which is a bit of a scary thought - fine from a security point of view, that's sorted, but it does feel sort of vulnerable somehow being so exposed.
5) Poorly friend managed to get an emergency blood test appointment this morning, the results of which are being rushed through while she waits and she will then get straight to see a consultant. Very concerned for her but at least something is finally happening and with some haste.
A lot going on today, didn't sleep at all well last night - got a new memory foam topper on my bed which is so comfortable but 'different' - doesn't take much to unsettle me! Then up and at it early doors so feeling a bit overtired and somewhat genny with myself. Off to bed with my book now.
Night night.
