5 OS pleasures in your day today - part 3
Comments
-
1) sunshine coming through the window most of the day
2) a steamer pan arrived, that will fit on all my existing different size saucepans saving a bit of electricity and some hob space - don’t have the cupboard space to warrant space for a three tier separate thing that I used to have.
3) found a pair of socks I thought I had lost (not cheap ones either!) - was a bit miffed in case i had decluttered them into the bin, so am happy to have found them safely in the bottom of the drawer
4) got some life admin done at the weekend so feeling a bit less stressed. All payments to the bills account have been updated to cover price increases.
5) salmon and steamed veg dinner with home made mayoworking on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?10 -
1) being able to sleep in
2) my furangel
3) love that im eating super healthily almost every day for probably the first time ever... go go batch stir-frying.
4) for finding out an actual reason to my finger pain
5) for figuring out how insurance works properly for the first time ha!9 -
Great news Frith, new beginnings.
1 Wow what a stunning day weather wise, did a spot of weeding and re filled the bird feeders.
2 I had a lot of help while cleaning the bathroom and mirrors, they were not impressed by vinegar spray.
3 Homemade meatballs and hm sauce, lentil pasta and grated cheese
4 Property searching well the dream house hasn’t come up yet at the right price, so I guess it’s a pleasure – sort of, and at least now we are clear on what we want to get as well, also half the battle.
5 Booked in a tip run.
For today
1 Made a start on making the spare room into a spare room it’s still a dumping ground, a lot to achieve, a little bit every day this week should get it there.
2 Spent a lot of time gathering items for the tip run into one place and some final gardening also to go, all loaded in like tetris.
3 Fish for dinner.
4 I cleaned up the kitchen from top to bottom, literally balancing to clean the light. Cleaner through the washing machine and also cleaned the oven, always a pleasure when done.

May I ask you knowledgeable people what is probably a silly question? When my house "sold", the estate agents put me in touch with a solicitor. Now, does this solicitor just sell my house or does she also do the gubbins for the new one I am buying as well?? I mean, it seems obvious that she would do both, but I have never sold a house before so have no idea!
Pleasures for today (Monday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Chores done this morning. My brother popped in to use my internet. A lorry snapped their BT cable (for the 10 houses in their village) and no one has mended it. It has been about 10 days now.
3) The solicitor phoned then sent more documents and I think I have just about filled them in ok (online). I also posted off the various certificates for the new windows, shower etc.
4) Sat in M and S cafe to do all the online stuff. Also did some Arabic while I was in there.
5) Went to English class which is always good. I did have a man who thinks I will understand if he just talks more loudly in his own language, as though he is an Englishman abroad!
6) I drove to have another look at the lakeside house for sale and the car of the owner was parked outside (though the property has been empty for months). There was also a van on the road so of course I am now worrying that someone else has made an offer today or that there is some terrible leak or problem. They were probably there to pick up the post or cut the grass but I shall be in a flap until tomorrow. If I don't like the 11am viewing house tomorrow, I might put an offer in on the lakeside house. (I did put a low offer in back in January).
7) A tasty tea of Spanish chicken and rice then brownies.
8) I might pop out later as I heard on the radio that you can see several of the planets. I can't find any really helpful information about it. The skies are reasonably clear at the moment so I could go to the Clee Hill.6 -
Frith. Your solicitor does the conveyance for the property. They could do both for you, if you want.I work from home so my cat can be fed on demand!5

Frith in Scotland your solicitor would usually do both sets of conveyancing. Buying and selling.Hello! What a glorious day it’s been!Hurrah Hurrah for all this lovely extra light! It literally fills me with joy!
Rubbish sleep. So was glad to get up. Shoulder sore.A day for ducks in the sky, bluetits in the garden, murmuration of starlings. Swooping and swaying.Had a lovely catch up with DD1. Much laughter. The travelers arrived home. Peace and quiet over! They bought me lunch which was nice.Garden centre for plants ( funnily enough 😆) I’d a £50 voucher for doing surveys! Took me a blooming year! Got some herbs and plants and summer bulbs. And a very nice bar of soap! A bit left on it to spend.Bought a roll of wallpaper for my bathroom.
Home and out into the garden. Put soil /grass seed/patch seed down on half the lawn. Fingers crossed!Put some pots I don’t need out the front for free. About half have gone. Walked round with a lady from a street away as she had her dog. Had a nice chat with her.Was just returning home as friend was walking past so she came in for a blether for about an hour. Walked her back round the road and popped in to work colleague friend with a book I’d read on Saturday. Nice walk back home.Hoovered up the stairs and my bedroom. Finished stripping the bits of wallpaper that didn’t want to come off first time.Had stripped my bed and it was dry on the line. So that’s remade and I’ll look forward to bed tonight. Maybe with all my fresh air I’ll sleep better.A good day.8 -
Good evening. Been lovely weather here today. cold but sunny, however it appears we are forecast rain tomorrow.
Frith - great news about your house sale. I am no expert but generally your solicitor handles both your sale and your purchase, in our experience this is good as they can co-ordinate exchange of contracts -,when you become legally bound to sell your property and buy the new one - and also completion - when the money changes hands and you become the legal owner of your new house. This means they can liase with your purchaser's solicitor and also with your seller's solicitor to make sure all necessary searches, etc are done before exchange and, once they are notified that your buyer's funds have been received, they will then complete your sale and also your purchase We have never used different solicitors for a sale and a purchase, if you did they would need to liase very closely. I don't think the same solicitor can act for your seller or your purchaser due to conflict of interest.
As an aside, and probably totally irrelevant to your sale, but if there are any questions they ask you that you don't know the answers to, you can take out an indemnity insurance policy (your solicitor can do this if required or you can arrange your own - the solicirtor route may be more expensive but they would make sure it was fit for purpose) which will cover things you can't confirm or perhaps don't have certification for. Really useful in our experience.
Some recent pleasures:
1) My pals came for lunch today, had a lovely time in spite of their nightmare journey due to accidents/road closures. At least they got home in good time as the driver was panicking a bit.
2) Mixed news from the building regs man concerning the steel work on the house. Because we are taking off the whole roof of the orangery, the steel that is now sitting on a concrete pillar needs to instead sit on a steel pillar. This means more calculations need to be done and yet more steel put in. This wasn't allowed for in the original calculations as changing the roof wasn't on the cards then. The pleasure, I suppose, is that he is happy with most of the joints and welding.
3) The builders confirmed they have ordered the stone for my new patio, they will lay it this weekend and finish the edging round my summerhouse at the same time.
4) New series of Succession has started. Haven't watched it yet, will watch with my bairn and we can cringe together at the awfulness of them all!
5) As far as I know no more surprise visitors will be coming (or they wouldn't be a surprise I suppose!) so I am aiming for a quiet rest of the week, definitely no cleaning or cooking needed and a pile of new releases from the library to tuck into - but then I said that last week too!
Right, off to bed, hope we all have a good sleep.7 -
Been missing again - thank you for your kind thoughts.
Frith - great news on the house sale, I’m a great believer if it’s meant to be it will happen re your new house.
1. Temporary promotion at work going well.
2. My lovely neighbours who call my son their surrogate son and feed him. They also walk my doggy when I’m at work.
3. Now days off but so much to do.
4. No date yet for ds2 op, I do realise that he will get some of the best surgeons at Addenbrookes.
5. My friend has invited me to see a play at the theatre.
6. Dd and family are coming to see me next week at Easter.8 -
Good morning - though somewhat grey here! Yesterday was gorgeous though so mustn't grumble.
DfV - well, that sent me off down a nalbinding rabbit hole! Don't think I'll be trying though. It looks to involve lefts and rights which is not my strong point. Great picture of some two toed socks though. And brilliant that your needles are hand made with love.
Which reminds me, Ampersand, how did you get on with amigurami(sp?) ?
Busy day yesterday.
Yoga first thing. Not been for three weeks. Really enjoyed it, but now there's two weeks off for Easter hols.
Then to visit my friend for coffee and cake. She's getting around really well with just one crutch , and walking locally every day, but still not tried driving yet. She'll get there, I'm sure.
Then to the dentist. My previous, best-ever, dentist retired last year. The new one was ok, didn't hurt me ( only two tiddly fillings) but had no 'bedside manner' . Apart from instructions, she didn't speak to me at all, and turned her back to complete her notes when finished. I know it shouldn't matter. She did the job after all, but if I ever need anything bigger doing, I think I'll have to ask for one of the others. Let's hope I don't need anything for a while!
Then home to no tea( frozen upper lip) but felt well enough later on to have some malt loaf!
Happy grey day everyone7 -
As others have said it’s a yes to your Solicitor handling both sale & purchase Frith, hope the viewing today goes well.
For yesterday,
We had sunshine and plenty of it, makes you feel so much better. Into horsey town for a food shop and had a coffee with friend.
Off to the yard, worked my girlie in the school then she dozed in the sun while I gave her a groom. Was daydreaming as I took her back out to field and walked through the biggest puddle on the track, back of jeans wet & muddy where she splashed me so the pleasure of having an old towel at the stables for me to sit on to drive home!
Made a loaf, malted grain with added pumpkin seeds and a mackerel pie for tea.
Evening walk with Capt S and small dog.
We did go outside around 9pm to see the planet & moon alignment, could only really spot the moon, Venus and a dim Mars but lovely clear skies so plenty else to look at.7
