Pleasures for today (Friday)
1) Not a bad sleep, though I was woken by the building work opposite earlier than I would have liked. (Yes, it has taken them over a year to build 4 houses).
2) Vaguely tidied the house.
3) Went to chess club in floody town. I won my first ever match today! Only took me about 6 weeks!
4) Went to the charity shop afterwards then to M and S. No more pots of tea (it's an anti-anaemia law) and the man who works there clutched his chest when I said "no" to his usual "tea?" enquiry and passed him an orange juice! Did some Arabic.
5) Spent an unhappy half an hour getting my premium bonds account working again online. Lots of codes had to be sent to various phones.
6) Went to Wildlife Club in the village hall.
To be honest, I am glad March is nearly over. I don't think there will be another month where a son moves out, I split up with a boyfriend, sell a house and buy a new one... Looking forward to Park Run in the morning and to April generally.6 -
For yesterday,
Bit of a mixed bag really, doing errands in the morning, filling up with petrol and farmshop when warning light popped up on car, ABS system failure! Luckily I was on my way home and could do 40mph with no unexpected braking.
Garage in village able to take it in but might not be able to fix immediately, dropped it off and walked home in rain wondering if day could get worse!
Capt S came home and I commandeered his car to go see equine girlie. She was already in as weather was foul so gave her a good groom and tidied up her legs.
Home and a very welcome cup of tea plus two choccy biscuits.
Loaded nachos for tea, glass of wine as well, few games of Yahtzee then Gogglebox.

Hello. For Saturday.Out to beach this morning. Down just after 7am. Just us and tide far enough out to have a decent walk.Nice drive there and back. Blossom on trees and daffodils on roadsides.Went to garden centre with DD2 and the chap. For a cheese scone! Then B and q for exterior paint. Painted my garden furniture. One table. Two chairs and a footstool. Same colour as before so really just a top up. Did a couple of coats and it looks so much better.
Did about 2/3 of the raised beds ( full width of garden) so just the two side bits to do now. I think I will ache tomorrow! Up and down. Leaning. Stretching!Cuddles with my doggy.A good day7 -
Pleasures for today (Saturday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Off to Park Run. I walked at the back with 1 volunteer and one man. We saw a muntjac and tried to identify birds on the other volunteer's bird app. Then we reached the end and 9 of us had a cup of tea (3 were fasting).
One man is very quiet but he suddenly grabbed my hand. I thought this was out of character. Then he raised it to his face and I thought he might be having some sort of breakdown. He then said repeatedly, "Who wrote that on your hand?" Everyone had turned round at this point! Every time I get stuck with some Arabic words that I can't remember, I write a few on the back of my left hand...
I kept saying, "I wrote them", which completely confused him. At this point, 3 or 4 other men also held my hand and had a read! One said, "Ah, but she doesn't know what it says". I said, "unfortunately, mountain, coastal". I think at that point even the birds fell silent.
Another confused man then said in Arabic, "Hello, what is your name and where do you live?" and when I answered that he went, "Arrghghgh!" in shock and took a step backwards! The original man got a pen and wrote something else on my arm (that I can't read) then I got out my notebook full of Arabic and they were completely flummoxed that I knew the alphabet and just kept reading out things I had written. I was laughing by that point.
3) Got home and made part baked rolls for lunch plus a large batch of tomato sauce. I also made some flapjacks.
4) I listened to our football team on the radio and they actually won! I think they had 10 losses or draws in a row before today.
5) I phoned my school friend.
6) My brother popped in, mainly to use the internet. Their phone line (to the village) has been down for 3 weeks.
7) I watched Casualty.

For Fri.
1 It rained rained and rained some more today, the ferrets love it.
2 Fresh bedding for us, hoovered and mopped the whole house.
3 Some horrible bangers and mash, the only time I’ve written that they were reduced from the freezer but had a “hint of red wine – yuk”
4 I made some low sugar cake for weekend treats.
For Today
1 A bit of gardening with a lot of 4 pawed help, they were so happy.
2 A fair amount of cleaning and washing loads, the pleasures of pets.
3 Tea and cake.
4 HM pizza, was sorely tempted by take away but resisted as it’s Sat.
5 Looking forward to the new glasses being ready as I can’t read / write for any amount of time now.

I put some washing out on the line and it all dried.
I checked the Eglu and there was a beautiful brown egg, still warm.
There is a lot of snowy white blossom on the Pershore yellow plum tree in the garden.
DH collected a library book I had ordered, and there was no charge.
I enjoyed a challenging online jigsaw puzzle which was just a mass of blue lavender.8 -
Good morning. Grey again.
Paulie - enjoy your break. I hope all goes well.
Frith - you do have some adventures!!
Not much happening here as we seem to have developed into a House of Pestilence. Very low level ( cold, tummy bug) but still enough to make us feel like doing nothing. And the grey weather isn't helping.
The good news is that we've both lost weight, a couple of pounds each, and a lot of the bits of leftovers from the freezer have been used up. I've only cooked properly once this week and that was only shepherd's pie, most of which is now portioned up in the freezer.
Hey ho. This too will pass.
Happy Sunday everyone5 -
For yesterday,
My phone rang at 8.45am to say that garage had done car, apparently a wire had corroded causing the problem, Capt S dropped me in the village to save the walk down to pick it up,
Another foul day weather wise and the horses were in, I spent a couple of hours at the yard grooming my girl, cleaning tack and chatting to my pal, it’s such a sociable place to be as well as great facilities / hacking and no more worrying what mood the owner will be in that day, makes such a difference!
A cup of tea and a hotxbun.
Listened to the footie, we won 2 nil away from home, may well be too little too late to prevent relegation but much needed all the same.
Snorkers for tea, we just had them in a roll with fried onions, very nice.7 -

Can't believe I'll be tippy-tapping quickly here after big, crazy yesterday.
1. Started with continuation of reassurance+action to friend whose email had been hacked. & had responded to '&, could I possibly ask a quick favour?' which threw up no alerts and was not unreasonable. All slowly coming right, but v.alarming and plausible. It's via a rogue BT bot invasion. So, heads-up generally, maybe?
2. Vile weather continued, but car was slowly loaded with Raffle Harridan's prizes and all the equipment needed for this inaugural Papa John's Community Cup home match day. What a palaver! New Doblo msg - 'Limited range'. Yes, & knew, so diesel taken en route. At Club, drenching continued during heavy unloading, so & did a bit of helpless little old lady.😁 Opposing players commandeered, so everything progressed indoors.
3. Just hearing that 5-6hr coach delays are ongoing at Dover. That'll hit the lovely, LOVELY French boys returning, after playing our 3s yesterday. They arrived almost late, after hitting Town of Gown the night before, still won 68-26, were likely hitting boîte de nuit Vinyl hier soir after much singing and helping AND RAFFLE WINNING.🤩 They were a total joy. Helped clean up, got stuck in completely, loved being with us - 💕Mutual!💕 - and & happily babbling in French all day, as and when......
4. We'll call this a stand-alone, expanding on 3. All the touring team, Centrale Supelec, were intrigued by an OAP kiwi & speaking français, about which they were 😊 blushingly complimentary. Of course it was &'s joy too. &'s large 3 litre amphora-style jar of long-macerated h-g figs intrigued Thibaud, who also has a fig tree chez lui. He absolutely wanted to win &'s, spurring more raffle ticket sales.😃
Come the draw, tout annoncé en français bien sûr, & involved nos invités.😁 First 3 draws, no claimants present, so later phoned. 4th draw! Pas croyable! OUI, c'était Thibaud! Forward he rushed amid entire rugby family cheering to claim the figs! They disappeared, with more compliments and much discussion. &'s last time with them, before delivering a prize to Linton, was singing upstairs with them all and teaching them various Chansons de La Legion Etrangère, astounded they didn't know them!https://youtu.be/QC6-AhOmnCk
5. 2 hwbs again hier soir - an osp never to be tired of and always on tap!

Morning everyone, sparkling and sunny here but I bet it's cold outside!
Some Sunday pleasures:
1) A nice, relaxed start to the day, feel like I've hit the ground running every day this week. Nobody 'on site' today for a change so drinking coffee still in my dressing gown. Definitely not a morning person!
2) My half- made patio is taking shape, a change of plan - again - yesterday whilst chatting to the builders and now I am very thrilled with how it's going to be. There's also a nice space for a raised bed so I can dabble in veg/salad growing again.
3) Sorting more 'treasures' for my summerhouse - only putting in it things that make me very happy. I've got my dad's old stool from his greenhouse, I can so picture him sitting on it tending his tomatoes and enjoying the warmth. It is really old and worn, it was obviously painted at some stage but most of the paint has worn off, it was his dad's before him. Perfect next to my reading chair to hold a pile of books, nice to sit with my hand touching it.
4) Son's partner's car has been in the garage since Thursday, won't be back till Tuesday as some parts are on back order. Obviousy not a pleasure and the bill won't be either, but I was able to offer her the use of mine as I don't drive it very often now so it's more like a pool car!
5) Had a busy couple of weeks and the boys are now on holiday for a fortnight and the builders back tomorrow to start roof removing so we are having an afternoon out by ourselves today - the calm before the storm. Lots of places round here re-opened this weekend including our favourite garden so we will go and look for spring flowers, if hubby behaves himself I might let him treat me to lunch out so best go and get dressed!
Happy Sunday.
