awol since Tuesday - work has been crazy, had a very important day with very important people missing (all valid reasons - illness, strike, long-booked annual leave, funeral) and coming week if anything even crazier. looking forward to Friday!
seeds in the bra itchiness? my thoughts exactly @VJsmum
exciting about the viewings @Frith and sweet about the premature mum's day
lovely about the flat @mhagster - for me DD1 and DS now settled with mortgages, DD2 hoping to move out this summer - when i think of all our trials and tribulations shared across these pages over the years, certainly been a journey!
1) lots more house reorganising / decluttering and with the cat gone could have all the windows open yay
2) short video from son of cat trying to climb out of his top window (he's bought a ground floor flat) - mum and I don't think it'll be long till the indoor cat isn't.
3) colleague's leaving talk - nice buns after 😋
4) goldfinches on the finch feeder - i know they visit cos it does slowly empty but hadn't seen them before - a pair
5) flat packed flowers from DD1 - they always make me smile, look half dead when they arrive, she ordered them to arrive Friday so now they are fully out

Pleasures for yesterday
1. DS's birthday. Now 24! he got a Villa season ticket which costs lots so i'd bought him a few reasonably priced 'bits' to open. THe cuddly Koala (it's an in-joke between us) was a hit
2. Made a very chocolatey cake - not stylish to look at (i'm pants at decorating) but tasted yum
3. DD came round for cake and pressies and stayed the afternoon. She and i watched Everything, Everywhere all at once while the menfolk were at the footie. Was excellent - i can see why it won awards. Tho maybe not Jamie Lee Curtis above Stephanie Hsu (though i do love Jamie Lee).
4. The Villa won 3 - 0 so that pleased the menfolk
5. out for dinner - not the best meal but nice to go out all together.
Enjoy your evening allI wanna be in the room where it happens9 -
Hi.
Still not fully dark and it's been a lovely sunny day here. Well, it's dark now but wasn't when I started this!
Quick pleasures while I grab a quiet five minutes after a massively busy day - maybe not normally but we are all still a bit frail and feeble so it's been a bit of an uphill struggle and I'm thankful for a cuppa and a sit down before sorting tea.
1) Mother's Day, and a mixed one for me. First one without my mum but only happy thoughts of her today, she was my best friend, there is so much I want to tell her since she's been gone but I'm happy for her that she is with my dad. He used to treat us all to lunch at the golf club on Mothers Day as a thank you for everything we did for them, such wonderful memories of happy times and appreciating how lucky we were to have them as our mum and dad.
2) My bairn fitted me in between the builders and taking eldest grandson to football. Bubbly and a wonderful card - he's not the sloppy, sentimental type so what he wrote means so much. Aww! What means more to me, however, is that I know if ever I needed him he would be right there and rock solid, as I would be for him - we don't need one particular day to know that. He has been my biggest pleasure ever since the moment he was born.
3) The house (my side, anyway) is totally cleaned, every little bit of it. What a job, everything was covered in brick dust, even inside my shoes in the wardrobe! The builders cut a wall down today and you couldn't see for dust, it was billowing out of the doors at one stage just as if there was a fire. Anyway, all the steels were bolted and welded today and the props are down and the whole of the back of the house is now stable after having been propped up with acrow props for the last three years. Massive lengths of steel and great big bolts, it won't be going anywhere soon that's for sure. They also got my summerhouse base finished so need a few nice days now to let it harden before they take the wooden frame off.
4) Hubby went off at the crack of dawn to get the stage set into the the theatre for their production starting on Tuesday. Luckily, he came home late afternoon just as I was flagging and, unusually, there is no rehearsal tonight so he can have a nice easy night before being out every night for the rest of the week. Sounds like there were just a few minor adjustments to be made and now they are good to go.
5) In addition to my panic cleaning, I have done a load of cooking and food prep for my visitors tomorrow. There will be nine of us in total and I do love an opportunity to get people round my table. Everything is ready just to be finished off tomorrow, so far so good.
Right, off to sort tea and then a quiet evening with my fella, last one til next Saturday.
Enjoy your evening and have a good week.8 -
Pleasures for today (Sunday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) A card from smaller son! It was very formal in message, but unprompted.
3) I was invited to lunch at bigger son's house (chicken wraps) and we had 2 games of pool and went to TK Maxx.
4) Did some Arabic.
5) Had a lie down in the afternoon. A combination of carrying heavy things at the cinema and doing Park Run has led to a lot of pulled muscles.
6) We have just ordered an Indian takeaway using the mothers day special offer.

sending hugs @Highdays and all who have a reason for Mothering Sunday to be a mixed one
oh and sending hugs to bop - you certainly got further than Luton!
1) great service - young church usually give out posies that we put together the day before but Dundee is doing big things with wild flowers and we were able to give out packets of seeds - pink iced fairy cakes along with coffee after church - very yummy
2) off to Elm of Dun to find a standard lamp - they all seemed a bit flimsy so we went to
3) the next shop - met an ex colleague so had a lovely catch-up. saw a lamp that was nice but can only get online
4) called in B&Q on the way back and what should i find in the reduced to clear but a really lovely tripod lamp, £77 less than the one i would have got in the previous shop had they had it in store. saw the fire pit i had wanted last year but they'd sold out so got that for £28 if you count how much i saved on the lamp 🤣
5) put together the firepit and the lamp while mum made supper and very very happy with our new lamp - loaded the broken one into her car with some other stuff for the dump tomorrow.MrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

Good morning!
Saturday
Up early and at beach nice and early. Lovely walk though tide was well in. Sets me up for the day!Went out for a wee while with DD2 kind of looking at housy bits and pieces but not buying anything till they get a move in date.Snuggled up with doggy on sofa watching stuff then an early to bed as I was up at ridiculously early o’clock on Sunday
Sunday.Oooft! Was in at work at 4.30am to start the mammoth task that was Mothers Day.Left twelve hours later…slightly broken😆 it was our busiest day ever and was relentless.Home and I could see from my car that there were delights on the table for me coming in. Lovely pink roses and two big bags of crisps! And a bottle of my tipple of choice Caffeine Free Diet Coke! Absolutely perfect! And a beautiful card with beautiful words written by DD2, the dog and the chap!Ate a packet of crisps for my tea and retired to my bed! Absolutely aching all over and ever so glad the day was done!My doggy so pleased to see me ( even though he’d had company all day! ) I missed you too!Tips were good.
Big hug for a colleague who’s last shift is next week but it was our last one together. And I get to do it all over again today but then I’m on holiday! This will hopefully keep me going today knowing I don’t have to do it next week!Have a lovely day.9 -
For yesterday,
Up first and oh that early morning cuppa with small dog snuggles.
A quiet day at home, like Highdays the celebrations of Mothers Day are always so bittersweet but I had the most wonderful Mum so happy memories see me through.
We had a fair bit of sunshine so time spent in the garden, lots of yellow with the daffs & forsythia but great to see so many small green buds as well.
Afternoon walk, we surprised a muntjac that was lying by the hedge, couldn’t see much damage apart from a slight scrap to its antler (?) but it seemed a bit stunned so wonder if it had been clipped by a car, poor thing ☹️ small dog just went nose to nose before I called her away.Watched the wonderful Wild Isles about our woods & forests and then the new series of Grace.7 -
Art'noon
Pleasures for yesterday
1. Lovely mother's day pressies - an electric screwdriver from DS (i'd asked for it) and Game of Thrones season 1 from DD
2. Went for a walk with OH into town and back via DD's
3. Also went to a new pub in town - as did everyone else, it seems
4. OH cooked delicious roast beef
5. DS, OH and me watched Aftersun, was powerful
Have a great afternoon.I wanna be in the room where it happens8 -
Oh I do believe I’m out of office! Hurrah!Workety work was worked. Stressy morning. But the very long afternoon ( which went on for ever) wasn’t madly busy.Daughter turned up at work in a state…the dog had got in to something he’s shouldn’t have ( and I’m just saying the dog cannot open doors nor unzip rucksacks but apparently he did. I’d suggest that the door wasn’t shut tight nor the bag! ) anyway she was distraught, I thought she was going to tell me he’d died…he’s currently on my feet so obviously never. Thankfully!Anyway call to the vet and advised to head down with him. So she went and got him and I made my own way down…cursing the roadworks and the amount of stuff I still needed to do at work. Very charming vet gave him a thorough check and had to call the veterinary toxic place…it might take half an hour. Me…he’s okay enough? I need to get back to work. Anyway advice was to keep a close eye for first four hours. Dog is fine. I am skint.Anyway…good company at work. Good tips. And goodbye…see ya!Glad to be home.
