1. two 'bonus' (i.e. unpaid) tutorials went well
2. tried on my summer clothes for holiday - not exactly a pleasure as all my shorts and trousers appear to have shrunk
3. washing largely dried on the line and i managed to get it in before it really started raining.
4. went for a swim - i'm getting better and faster
5. salmon for tea.
Enjoy the rest of your day.I wanna be in the room where it happens10 -
Hello!A nice enough day until the rain started. Now pouring!
The most stunning sunrise this morning.Went to garden centre. Had a cheese scone, met some old friends and had a lovely chatter. Spent some of my tips on a fire pit for the garden…if ever we get better weather!Home and was just about to take doggy a walk when I got an email from mums solicitor…there’s a wee bit extra money coming to us. Not lots but a very nice unexpected bonus. So very quick chat to sister. So I’d to nip in to town to sign my bit of the forms. I’m going to treat myself with this unexpected money.Chap kindly gave me a carpark ticket with 50 minutes left on it.Popped in to charity shop next door and found a Cath Kidston travel bag in excellent condition. Just missing the shoulder strap but it actually looks hardly used. The wee zip pulls inside still have the tissue paper on them. Also got a lovely springy top ( again for when the weather warms up) and a pair of cropped jeans. Ya know…for when the weather warms up😀
Home and come on doggy. Let’s go that walk! Was a pleasant walk. Much sniffing. However just as we were nearly home the rain started. But got heavy once we were in.Finished my book and had a wee snoozette.
Beans on toast for tea. And was very nice in its simplicity.12 -
1 Grocery delivery was great, free delivery and a couple of problems where they didn’t quibble just refunded and gave a 10 goodwill.
2 Hoovered and mopped all by 9am, as I wanted to spend the day writing.
3 Walked up with DH to the hospital as he had a diabetic eye apt, which leaves the eyes very susceptible to sunlight, so walked him back and shut the curtains.
4 Home to a fresh bread sandwich with turkey and coronation coleslaw which was lovely, and dinner is also the items that leaked so free in effect, of curry bits and bobs.
5 Catching up with Death in Paradise.
6 Took the weekly metre reading, at least we are in control of it, but experimenting this week so no tumble dryer, not easy when its about 2 loads a day here, and less use of oven, an experiment to see if it has any effect on next week’s reading.

Pleasures for today (Wednesday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Went to the allotment (not really mine anymore, just waiting for someone else to rent it) and dug up a very few raspberry canes and one of the rhubarb plants for bigger son's garden.
3) Went to M and S cafe and did almost an hour of Arabic, before suddenly being joined by my brother!
4) A couple want a viewing of my house on Saturday.
5) My brother and I went to see bigger son and we planted the rhubarb and the raspberry canes. My brother had not been before so they had a quick game of pool in the attic.
6) Went to chess club in carpet town.10 -
For yesterday,
Rough night sleep wise so the pleasure of a shower and big mug of coffee.
Made a loaf and left it to prove while I did some sloggus domesticus, it was baked by 11am so headed over to the yard to see girlie.
Bit of work done and a chat with fellow owners.
Home, late lunch then gave in to weariness and had an hours nap on sofa.
A one pot chicken bake thingy for tea then we caught up on Uni Challenge.8 -
Good morning. More rain but the garden is pleased
Lainey - sounds like a great, and very well planned, break. Not been to London for ages and now I want to go again!
Recently
Sunday - went to DD's in afternoon for a cuppa and a natter. On the way back, DS rang wanting advice on some trees he was planting so we detoured to their house for another cuppa and some consultancy. I love it when I see everyone I love on the same day and can see for myself that they're all ok!
Monday - no yoga. Teacher ill. Someone up there really doesn't want me to do yoga more than two weeks running!
Floristry this week was a hand tied bouquet. Definitely could have done with an extra pair of hands but pleased with the result. My favourite so far.
It's taken a bit of shower dodging but I've managed to get washing dry outside three times this week. Just needed airing when I brought it in.
DGD here today because of teachers' strike. She has Y9 exams next week so some French revision on the cards! And maybe some crochet.
And now the sun's out
Happy 🌞 ☔ day everyone9 -
Hello.
Teeny little pleasures today:
1) Most of us have been struck down by this evil tummy bug, even hubby has finally succumbed. Not really a pleasure but thank heavens we all have our own loos so no queuing which would be VERY problematical.
2) My blissful bed.
3) Plenty of stuff in the house if anyone wants to eat anything.
4) The builder is doing the concrete pad and my summerhouse will come a week next Wednesday.
5) We will get better, the rubble will be gone, spring will come, all will be well.
Hope you enjoy your evening.

Hello. The rainiest of nights and days here! So, so much water in the fields and on the roads!I was meeting niece and the boyo and DD2 and her chap came too! Went in her car, however I had further plans for after meeting so they had to take me!We meet half way at a garden centre. Nice catch up with my little boyo. Got the biggest of hugs from him.Went onwards to their town where there are lots of nice charity shops. Got 5 nice tops and a pair of black cropped jeans. So I’m all set for spring, if it decides to come. DD2 and the chap kindly waited for me!Watching a new to me medical drama called ‘Critical’ don’t watch if you’re eating that’s all I’ll say 😳
We had some lovely Chinese food for tea. DD2 treat. So many cuddles with my doggy.8 -
Frith - viewing...? Oh gosh yes, Hunt The Tip! All the hours of Arabic - remarkable. (How soon before a teapot triggers thinking in Arabic?) Hope the raspberries settle in - mine definitely think it's spring in Lancashire (despite the snow).LaineyT - Cor, St Bart's is quite a place! Tower of London - yes, I do wonder what would happen if you turned out parasensitive, if stones could talk or just hold emotions. Oh the joy of your own bed! Four days of mud, but in warm sunshine. After a bad night a nap is often only reasonable.PaulieHerts - delighted to hear OH mending, & of line drying amidst the daffs.VJsmum - "fire is lit", a phrtase to conjure with! Googling Creed I have to say I didn't see humour, but to each. Oh dear about summer wardrobe, but it is only March.mhagster - used up everything - I do worry you're baking some of your heart & soul into all this & that's harder to replenish. And how, hurrah work is done! Doubled up belly laughing - that's replenishing. Treat - Splendid idea! Hugs from boyo, likewise replenishing.Purple kitten - no good for anything ? ! love ferret medicine ice-cream has to be the right sort. Power cut, operation, pizza - quite a day! Weekly metre reads - awed, & thinking I should try.DundeeDoll - misread that as an hour on the exercise bike watching Hepburn & my mind's eye crossed...DD2 home & wringing her fare back out of the train companies - excellent! Office moves, eep.BoP - Two laptops?! Madness...Highdays - tumnmy bug Not a pleasure, but Husband sounds wonderful. Now all of you But Enough Bathrooms, phew. There wil be laundry but focus on hydration first.Happycas - you get called for tree consultancy? Neat! Aww DGD coming to you for prep & crochet.
topsyturphy - as the weather swings from sun to rain to snow & ice to sun again, I do hope you and yours are coping. Are card games possible & would poker help?OS Pleasures recentlyWell, youth nowadays. Middleson was planning a week away in Scotland next [er] week, he & colleague checked the forecast & are now booked to go to Gran Canaria for a few days! Not sure if I’m jealous or just startled. (Definitely wondering if he speaks Any Spanish! Mine was largely cave related, but hopeful expression & gesture worked fine.) [His flight back landed an hour ago, some normality will be restored in the coming 48 hours.]One acorn in the fridge but so little root yet… may make it a wire cradle & sit it over an egg cup til it gets the idea. (Engineering son helped considerably & it is now just in the water & daylight, hopefully thinking of growth.)Quince seeds batch 1 into fridge. Batch 2 still on my desk pending better quality compost.Seems broccoli is calcium rich - youngest has been requested to serve me some (as part of a meal) daily. His expression was priceless! My phone’s calendar function is a pleasure mostly. I can try to keep track of my mother’s appointments, one son’s shifts & the other one’s open day plans. Right now I’m crackered!Coz went out dancing & awoke next day near crippled so I sent him Epsom salts. Today he reports that they help but he’s thinking of just staying in the bath for 48 hours & I’m now thinking of the bacta tanks of Star Wars infirmaries…Made it to civic trust AGM in person & helped vote in the new constitution, which has the force of law & covers all sorts of useful areas like email & dementia to name but two!Watching The Mandalorian with the lads, much as we watched Dr.Who as a family in the Tom Baker years.Ah, discussing how to cut frozen butter - other than with pure kinetic shock. The bone handled knives with their blades in a mug of boiling water should be as effective & less loud.Youngest has taken to using the Predator tic-tic-tic sound to attract my attention. I can’t see how he does it & all my attempts to produce clicks are clearly wrong, & he finds it hilarious…It would be a lovely drying day if it weren’t for the rain. Steady brisk wind. As steady dropping from the heavens. Ah well.Curry & a movie - a good evening if not obviously traditional 21st birthday shenanigans.I’d not realised my lad’s birthday shares the day with the Dunblane massacre. I do remember driving home listening to the 9/11 coverage whilst pregnant. It started to snow. I started to worry. I went out, cleared the car & went & bought a shovel. It stopped snowing! (Result!) I had to tell the local hardware store Himself had died, which was hard, but they are lovely folks. This shovel will live in the downstairs loo as the gardening hardware coalshed door is swollen shut. Even had we been able to dig the coalshed clear, we’d not have been able to open it, so one shovel will now stay indoors til needed. The acorns are really getting the hang of this growth idea. All of an inch & a half but every mighty oak has to start somewhere. Sis has suggested one be named Patience & now I'm contemplating all the other girly virtue names, (with a very wry twist). After all 'Patience' is next to Diego & along from Sid...Meanwhile the mango has sprung more leaves & appears to be surviving despite the cold, and the key lime seeds have arrived… “something for the bra” as sis chirps happily, contemplating. (Some people used heated mats, I body carry seeds til they show signs of germination.) Why chuckle when it works?!
Lovely vendor of kumquat seeds labelled the envelope with "keep in fridge until you're ready"! Postie was most intrigued, bless him..health strength love & courage to all as have need & layers as needed!9 -
Get well soon, Highdays.
Pleasures for today (Thursday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Did I clean the house ready for the next viewing? No! Though I am up to date with the washing now and it isn't looking too bad.
3) Spent a happy morning making a batch of shepherds pies then baklava. I had never made it before but we buy it all the time. I thought there was far too much syrup but it actually could have done with a bit more.
4) Did lots of Arabic during the day. I have nearly filled the writing book that bigger son bought me for Christmas.
5) I went to the pub to watch the Man Utd match with my brother. We had a burger and chips and I had my traditional pot of tea (I am on a one woman mission to check that all pubs will provide tea to non drinkers).
6) Stopped on the way home to lift some toads out of the road and put them on the verge nearest to the pool.
