For yesterday,
Oh joy, more rain! Just as us equestrians were getting used to not wading through rivers of mud, so first pleasure must be my muckboots.
Dropped into pet store for small dog’s kibble and was delighted to see a dog helping itself to low level placed treats while his human was distracted, several big mouthfuls went in and Mhags won’t be surprised to hear that it was a choccie lab! Memories of my old Rosie and musing on how much stock has to be written off by store.
Hello pony and my haven’t you had fun rolling in the dirt today, distinct line where her rug went but everything else brown, mud dreadlocks in mane & tail. Just took off the necessary to lunge her then finished the job while she tucked into hay, my arms ached driving home.
Not switching on the lamps until well gone 6, slowly but surely days are stretching out.
Tea was fish with cauli & leek cheese.12 -
DforV - isn't seeds down your bra a little ... itchy
Lainey - muckboots as in Muck Boots wellies? The latter are my festival welly
Pleasures for yesterday
1. a clean kitchen and lounge
2. lunch with friends. Not too much kid talk which can get dull
3. shopping for DS's birthday, not expensive things as he has a football season ticket which costs ££££
4. watched 'the Dog House' with DS - we think he should get a Lurcher, but we know that OH will not agree
5. my bed
Have a nice evening all.I wanna be in the room where it happens9 -
Pleasures for today (Friday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Seven hours helping at the cinema. A lot of moving scenery and putting it away under the stage. I played the piano when (I thought) everyone else had gone out to get their lunch. One man was racist. I had already decided that the third time someone made a racist comment would be the time I said something back. So I did. He didn't say anything for several minutes then carried on talking as though nothing had happened. (But didn't say anything else bad).
3) I have a house viewing tomorrow and now another viewing next Friday!
4) Cleaned the house ready for the house viewing. The entire kitchen, bathroom and stairs, emptied the bins, put the shopping away. Smaller son cleaned the floors downstairs. Took about 2 hours.
5) Shepherds pies for tea that I made yesterday.
6) Did some Arabic.
7) In bed now with 1 hwb and about to watch the Last Leg. An incredibly busy day coming up tomorrow. Just bought our football tickets as our team is playing in Gloucester.9 -
Good morning! About to get ready for our Saturday trip to the beach. Will leave as it gets light.Friday kind of went like this :
up early.Had an appointment at tip…never again at that time! Way too much traffic with school runs and rush hour and throw in blooming roadworks and it was ridiculous!Nipped to big supermarket to get two more willows. With my tips. I’ll just give you some change if that’s okay…counting out 20 pence pieces.Nipped into charity shop at that end and got another pair of jeans, another stripy top…because there’s no amount of too many stripy tops! And a bright blue tee shirt which will do for work. And a what I thought was a nice top but DD2 said it was like her grade 6 teacher in Australia’s taste in fashion…this is never a compliment, that lady wore some strange things! However I like it!Home to get a bit of work done. Then we were dropping the chap off at rugby club so we took the doggy and I’d a walk round the outer of two pitches. Then it was time to go and visit a work location that’s coming up in a few months. Oh my goodness it was absolutely stunning and when can I move in? Nice to meet my client again and the person in charge of location. A drive through our beautiful countryside. And I wasn’t driving ( so even better 😆)And just as I was leaving a very exciting text from DD2 ‘ we’ve got a flat’ so I let out a wee squeal and said oh sorry but my daughters just got a flat! Hurrah! Hurrah! So home to a very happy daughter …and a me right let’s start packing! But we just had celebratory chips instead 😆 and I know I’ll have a huuuuge adjustment to having an empty nest but it will be a titivated nest…I’m full of ideas ( possibly not the energy ) of how my nest shall look. I have never ever lived on my own properly but it’s right that she moves on and out and starts her own nest! I stayed here for five weeks on my own when I moved back but was on a self imposed deadline to get things ready for the kids coming over. And a bit of catch up telly then an early bed.Right ! We are off for a paddle! Have a lovely day 😊9 -
Yep, Muck Boots VJS 100% reliable in the cold & wet without the stupidly hefty price tag of some of the more fashionable welly boots, just my opinion of course 😉
For yesterday,
Bed change and tackled some of Mount Ironmore.
Drove over to village on outskirts of Uni City to pick up my pal, she’s had a horrendous time with first radio then chemotherapy but is now out the other side.
We went to a collection of barns which house small, independent shops and had a mooch around but the cafe there was horrendously busy so found a nearby garden centre with a decent place for lunch. So good to catch up on nearly a years worth of news.
Home, then a wall of tiredness hit me so a late afternoon nap.
Woke up to sunshine, lovely and very welcome after a day of so much rain.9 -
Frith - well done for speaking out.
Mhags - congrats to your DD but yes, huge adjustment for you and Haggis. Agree on the stripey tops front
Lainey - love my Muck Boots, they're ideal for festivals as they're really comfy to walk around all day in if it's really muddy.
Pleasures for yesterday
1. More blooming shopping 🙄 but i think that's me done now.
2. Wrote Monday's lecture without the level of pain i anticipated
3. a chat with SiL. For once it was just a chat and didn't involve me having to do anything.
4. gin and tonic
5. the delivery of decent firelighters, hopefully lighting the fire won't be the pain it's been of late.
Have a lovely day all.I wanna be in the room where it happens9 -
Morning all - yes, I know its mid-afternoon nearly but I got up late and am very much in morning mode still!
Frith - fingers crossed for your viewings, sounds like interest is picking up a bit now spring is coming.
My pleasures:
1) Starting to feel a bit better, still get the odd wave of nausea but am at least up and doing. Others are at various different stages of being ill/feeling a bit better but hopefully all going in the right direction.
2) Just as well as I have visitors on Monday for lunch. They haven't seen our 'new' home before and everything is covered in dust and grit as the builders are still hard at work. Lots of cleaning to be done, this was a quite radical lifestyle change and can't help feeling I need to justify the move which is crazy really as it's the best thing we ever did and I love my ground floor penthouse and I love living where we do - though I can clearly remember the shock on my mum's face when I told her where we were moving to!
3) Chats with the builder - he is doing the summerhouse base this weekend but also now will be making me a new patio and regrouting the big patio and all the paths with some sort of resin so they will all blend in and be weed-free. He has lots of great ideas and a real 'can do' attitude which is great but means I will never be rich!
4) Got some lovely tried and tested recipes for my visitors which I know they will enjoy without too much effort on my part. Also, by Tuesday I will have a spotless home - hubby is cleaning windows as we speak, having done all the paintwork - and lots of scrummy leftovers and will then be having the rest of the week off.
5) Definite feeling of spring in the air today, trees are in blossom and daffs are flowering, blue sky and fluffy white clouds. Feels like we re finally turing a corner.
Have a good weekend.10 -
Pleasures for today (Saturday)
1) Not a bad sleep, though it took a few hours to go to sleep, which surprised me after the heavy work done yesterday.
2) I went to a Park Run! Obviously I didn't run (I haven't run more than 10 metres since I was at school) but I walked at the back helping pick up the signs. We took about 12 men from the hotels and they always do very well. 2 of them walked with us and the better runners got to the end, recorded their times then ran back to us so they could chat as well! I enjoyed it and we all had coffee and biscuits at the end. Even the 8.30 start somehow seemed reasonable.
3) Went home and finished cleaning the house. The viewing was at 4 so we await news.
4) Smaller son and I went to Gloucester to watch our team play football. We drove their via Bromyard and Ledbury and the potholes and road surfaces were so awful that we decided we would drive back a different way. We drew 1-1. Torrential rain but also 2 rainbows.
5) After the match we drove to the centre and had a walk around (the outside of) the cathedral. We drove back past the Malverns.
6) Spoke to my school friend.
7) Did a bit of Arabic.
8) Smaller son was too excited to wait until tomorrow so I have just had my mothers day present. I am sitting in bed with a cup of tea and some chocolates and will watch Casualty just now.8 -
For yesterday,
Another rough night sleep wise so a welcome lie-in.
Had a bit of a clothes sort, have been thinking about doing a bit of a capsule wardrobe thing but realised because I no longer go out to work things are all very casual so I’m not sure there is a need! Oh well, if nothing else it made me sort through and put a couple of bits by to donate.
Youngest DSS dropped by for a cuppa and a catch up, he’s down this way to go to a wedding.
Off to see the mud monster, just cleaned enough to get tack on and had a wander around the fields.
Home and made a chicken tikka masala, didn’t fancy rice so we just had a naan with it.7 -
Morning everyone. Nice sky this morning, mixture of greys and blues and feels fairly mild. Much better than all the rain we’ve had.
I’m still nursemaid, cook and general gofer to OH as he is still on crutches. Hospital on Tuesday, when hopefully he will be told he can partially weight bear 🤞
Out to lunch with BF on Tuesday and as I had a birthday free main meal, I had my first ever fillet steak, yes at the age of 66! Unfortunately it was a disappointment as it was rare not medium, luke warm and a bit gristly ☹️ Should have complained but didn’t like to as it was almost free and they were so busy. Great catch up as usual with BF.
On Wednesday I drove OH over to my sisters for lunch at lovely village pub. It turned out to be quite expensive as it was my turn to pay and her granddaughter was there as well as teachers were on strike. It was a nice lunch though, tasty lasagne.
Managed to go swimming twice this week, but probably won’t get there this coming week due to OH hospital appointment and my long awaited first physio appointment coinciding with my senior swim sessions.
Picking OHs mum up to bring her back for mother’s day lunch. I’m doing a full roast turkey 🦃 (crown) dinner and going to make a fruit sponge for pud, so I suppose I had better get up soon as I am chauffeur, cook, waiter and washer up 🤣
Happy Sunday all.
